Depressive Disorder Diagnosis and Assessment

Depressive Disorder Diagnosis and Assessment

Read the following vignette, keeping in mind the importance of knowing symptoms, and their durationand severity:

Christina is a 25-year-old Mexican American woman who has been working as an elementary school teacher since she graduated from college three years ago. Although she does well at her job, she has been feeling low ever since she left college. When she took this teaching position, she had to relocate to a city over four hours away from her family and the house she grew up in. Even though she has made some new friends, Christina still feels disconnected and lonely. She is also concerned about her mother, who has been diagnosed with a serious health condition. For the past month, Christina has felt much worse. She reports feeling very sad and tired most of the time and is having difficulty concentrating at work. She says that she does not have enough energy to accomplish the things she would like to do. She admits to overeatingto “unwind” after school, and is concerned she is sleeping too much on the weekends. She also has very low self-esteem, despite being well-liked at her school and receiving good performance evaluations.Christina describes her life as “heading nowhere” and says that lately she has felt extremely hopeless. She wonders if she will ever feel as happy as she did when she was in college. She does not have a history of ever feeling worse than this, and is in good health.Based on the information presented, address the following questions in your discussion post using headings to match content in each bullet point:

  1. What depressive disorder diagnosis would you consider assigning to Christina? Describe the process you used for making this decision, including your use of the “Differential Diagnosis by the Trees” from the DSM-5 Handbook of Differential Diagnosis (linked in Resources).
  2. Describe how the Beck Depression Inventory-IIwould aid in making a diagnosis for this client. (See pages 62–63 of Abnormal Psychology).
  3. What Z code or codes would you consider for Christina? How would including these systemic considerations help youunderstand Christina’s presenting symptoms and consideryour treatment approach?

Stress Management for Salespeople

General Project Guidelines

1.    Papers must be written using the current APA Publication Manual. Papers must be five to seven typed double-spaced pages.

2.    Papers must include a minimum of five relevant resources, appropriately cited.

Stress Management for Salespeople

Frank Taylor’s automobile dealership has a number of high-achieving salespeople who could be described as extreme Type A personalities. Unfortunately, several of them are experiencing stress-related physical problems such as hypertension, high cholesterol, and migraine headaches. You have been hired to develop a stress reduction program incorporating both relaxation techniques and physical exercises that can be utilized by individuals and in group sessions several days a week at work. Describe specifics of a program that incorporates techniques of proven efficacy in dealing with extreme Type A personality behaviors.

Tips & Clarification for Final Applied Project

The goal of the Final Applied Project paper in this course is to design an intervention program for Type A employees to lower their stress levels and improve their mental and physical health.

For this assignment, keeping that goal in mind, I would suggest that you address each of the following items in your paper:

1.    Describe the Type A personality, emphasizing its role in stress

2.    Discuss health risks associated with the Type A personality

3.    Discuss the roles of relaxation and exercise in the prevention and treatment of stress

4.    Discuss a few possible interventions to reduce stress for employees and/or Type A personality

5.    Evaluate those interventions using studies of their effectiveness for employees under stress and/or with Type A personality

6.    Create a description of a program that would likely be effective, based on what you’ve stated above. Be specific.

1.    Write a description you would present to the company or to the employees describing the program, how it works, and why it is being implemented.

2.    How long does it last?

3.    How frequently do the employees practice the intervention?

4.    Is it practiced at the job site or on their own time?

5.    If on their own time, how will you track their participation or improvement?

Your paper should be 5-7 pages of double-spaced text (12-point font, Times New Roman or Courier style). These pages do not include the title page or references page(s). Please consider using the APA 6th Template.doc I’ve provided. It will simplify your formatting, as it allows you to replace the text in the template with your own. Please also consider using subheadings for each section of your paper to guide the reader. You may want to review how to create APA-style headings.

Be sure to support your ideas with information from academic, peer-reviewed sources, and cite those sources using APA format. This involves the use of in-text citations and a list of full references for each source cited within your paper on a References page.

Critically evaluate the argument you provide on Spinoza’s behalf.

Requirement: Spinoza suggests that 1p7 follows directly from 1p6c. It is natural, however, to feel that there is a gap between what is claimed in 1p6c and what is claimed in 1p7.

Explain why someone might think there is a problem here.

Provide a fuller argument, on Spinoza’s behalf, for getting from 1p6c to 1p7. (Here you might find it helpful to look at 1p11 and its various demonstrations and its scholium.)

Critically evaluate the argument you provide on Spinoza’s behalf.

Other information: “General instructions. Whichever topic you choose, you should divide your paper into two parts, and label them “Part A” and “Part B.”

Part A should be your explanation of the text.

It will be evaluated on how well you explain Spinoza’s position in an intuitive way (concrete illustrations often help).

Close paraphrases are safe but often don’t make clear what is going on.

To do well on this part, you must ground your interpretation in the text, but you should also take us beyond the text, explaining its main idea, pointing out possible ambiguities and difficulties, etc. The text is difficult, and it is sometimes not clear exactly what Spinoza’s argument is. You should do your best to make clear what you think the argument is and why.

In Part B you should critically analyze what Spinoza is saying.

How compelling is his argument? Is the argument unsatisfying in some way? Why?

How might someone argue against his position? Are there other reasonable views of the matter that someone might adopt?

Give equal attention (not necessarily equal space) to both parts. To do well on the paper, you will need to have both a good, clear explanation of what Spinoza is saying and an original, interesting analysis of his discussion.”

, consider a couple/family where one member has a severe and persistent mental illness. (

As you explored in this week’s Discussion, assessment becomes more complex if a couple or family member shows signs of pervasive mental illness or a significant health concern. Using theory-based interventions may help you navigate this challenging terrain.

For this Assignment, consider a couple/family where one member has a severe and persistent mental illness. (Note: This may be a fictitious case or a case from your professional experience). Think about how you would conceptualize the couple’s/family’s problems using the lens of your chosen theoretical orientation. Using the Walden Library, locate two evidence-based journal articles that support interventions for the present issue.

The Assignment (2–3 pages)

  • Identify the pervasive mental illness or health concern present in the couple/family.
  • Conceptualize the couple’s/family’s problem through your chosen theoretical orientation.
  • Design a treatment plan including short- and long-term goals.
  • Explain two evidence-based interventions you would use to address the couple’s/family’s issues and how you would use them. (Note: The interventions may not emerge from your chosen theoretical orientation.)
  • Justify the intervention you selected with two evidence-based research articles.

Family Policy through a Human Rights Lens

Family Policy through a Human Rights Lens

Chapter 18 of your text reviewed social policies that focus on individuals and families across the domains of family formation and family care. It then analyzed family policy through a human rights lens and identified areas of injustice and inequality that families face. Finally, the chapter discussed the lack of access to healthcare that families encounter and addressed how it can impact resilience. Please use your readings and research peer-reviewed journal articles in the Purdue Global Library to support your post.

Please respond to the following:

  • Identify one social or family policy that directly impacts either family formation or family care, and then discuss this policy’s impact on family resilience.
  • Discuss the importance of using a human rights lens when working with families.
    • Then identify specific steps a human service professional can take to ensure their personal worldview does not interfere with ethical service delivery.
  • Using the NOHS standards, identify and briefly discuss two ethical standards that compel the human services profession to practice from a human rights perspective.
  • ***ANSWER EACH BULLET. MINIMUM 350 WORDS***

Vargas Family Case Study.” Develop three experiential interventions that you would use with the Vargas family.

Read “Topic 6: Vargas Family Case Study.” Develop three experiential interventions that you would use with the Vargas family.

It’s time to get creative! You have noticed that the Vargas family struggles with emotional expression, particularly with congruent emotional expression (i.e., words, actions, and body language being congruent). Using the Experiential Interventions Template, create three unique experiential interventions that you would use with the family and describe how they would be helpful to the family. It may be helpful to refer to the library articles for ideas and inspiration, but do not copy existing interventions.Be sure to fully address each section in the template for each of the three interventions in your paper:

  • Title of your Intervention
  • General Goals
  • Materials Needed
  • Advance Preparation Needed
  • Description of the Intervention with the Vargas family
  • Discussion of the Benefits of the Intervention to the Vargas Family
  • References (if any)

While APA style is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected, and documentation of sources should be presented using APA formatting guidelines, which can be found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.

Take the following questionnaire on happiness and answer the following questions in an essay format: http://www.meaningandhappiness.com/oxford-happiness-questionnaire/

What was your score? How did you rate in happiness?
Did you agree or disagree with this score? Why?
Does this change any of your thoughts about how happy you are? How so?
Did this test make you want to make any changes? If so, how?
The textbook describes happiness being divided into 3 elements: the pleasant life, the good life, and the meaningful life. Do you believe that you are missing one of these elements? If so, which one? Why?
The above website has links to research done to improve happiness. Feel free to browse the studies and try some of the exercises!

chose an advertisement (print, commercial, ect.) and post it here (add an attachment or add a link). Then explain why it is persuasive.

Discussion boards provide students an opportunity to share their unique perspective, make recommendations, provide an opinion, or answer a question about an issue. Each response should be professional and must be written well (follow rules of grammar and mechanics), clearly, and concisely. In general, students should support each of their claims using empirical evidence, logic and reason, or both. After posting a response, respond to another student’s post. When responding to others it is best to add support to their claims or add evidence or logic that goes against their claims. Please remain professional, constructive, and open-minded when responding to those whose perspectives differ.

This week chose an advertisement (print, commercial, ect.) and post it here (add an attachment or add a link). Then explain why it is persuasive. What technique(s) does it use and what component of one’s attitude does it attempt to shape. If not explicit from your answer above, explain why it is effective.

Your answer and response are due prior to end of week 6.

Nadine was a 15-year-old girl whose mother brought her for a psychiatric evaluation to help her with long standing shyness.A

Original discussion board

There are three possible diagnosis in this scenario. Can you indentifythem? Discuss.

Nadine was a 15-year-old girl whose mother brought her for a psychiatric evaluation to help her with long standing shyness.Although Nadine was initially reluctant to say much about herself, she said she felt constantly tense. She was generally unable to speak in any situation outside of her home or school classes. She refused to leave her house alone for fear of being forced to interact with someone. She was especially anxious around other teenagers, but she also became “too nervous” to speak to adult neighbors she had known for years. She said it felt impossible to walk into a restaurant and order from “a stranger at the counter” for fear of being humiliated.Nadine also felt she constantly was on her guard, needing to avoid the possibility of getting attacked. She was the most confident when she was alone in her room. From seventh grade to ninth grade, Nadine’s peers turned on her. The bullying was daily and included intense name-calling (for example – “stupid,” “ugly,” “crazy”) and physical threats. One girl (the ringleader) had been Nadine’s good friend in elementary school, but hit her and gave her a black eye. Nadine did not fight back. She refused to tell her parents what happened, but cried herself to sleep at night.Nadine transferred to a specialty arts high school for ninth grade. Even though the bullying ended, she could not make friends. Nadine felt even more unable to venture into new places. She felt increasingly self-conscious that she could not do as much on her own.Nadine was even scared to read a book by herself in a local, public park. She had nightmares about the bullies in her old school. She spent whole weekends “trapped” in her hom
