Study Description: A school educator is interested in determining the potential relationship between grade point average (GPA) and IQ scores among ninth graders. The educator takes a random sample of 30 ninth graders aged 14 years old and administers the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children-Fourth Edition (WISC-IV). The WISC-IV includes a Full Scale IQ (FSIQ; however, for this assignment we will just call it IQ).

Answer the following Questions:

a. Hypotheses – Formulate null and alternative hypotheses. What do you think is the relationship between IQ scores and GPA?

b. Variables – Describe the scale of measurement (nominal, ordinal, interval, or ratio) for each of the variables.

c. Correlation – Write an overview of the results of the correlation (at least two paragraphs), including the appropriate and necessary statistical results within sentences and in proper APA formatting. Be sure to provide sufficient explanation for any numbers presented. Consider the following in your overview and conclusions:

· Is there a significant correlation between IQ scores and GPA? If so, what does a significant correlation mean?

· Using the correlation table and scatterplot, explain whether the relationship is positive, negative, or no correlation.

· Describe the strength of the relationship (e.g. very strong, moderate, weak, etc.).

· What do the results tell us about your hypotheses?

· What conclusions can we draw from these results? What conclusions can we NOT make using these results?

Recall from the Management Team Briefing on Employment Laws Assignment that the company in the assignment was the defendant in some HR-related lawsuits; claims of harassment, failure to reasonably accommodate disabilities, and work-life balance issues were made by employees, forcing the company to answer to the claims in its own defense. As the new CHRO, you want to enact stronger policies and guidelines to avoid such situations in the future.

Write a 5–6 page paper in which you:

  1. Briefly note how workplace harassment affects equal employment opportunity and describe at least four elements a plaintiff must show to pursue a harassment claim.   3. Make a connection between religious advocacy or harassment and bona fide occupational qualification. Can churches promoting a certain religion refuse to hire people of other faiths? Why or why not?
  4. Discuss your overall understanding of FMLA and the Pregnancy Discrimination Act as they relate to organizations granting leave for each. Then, identify two or three common FMLA mistakes managers make and what you would do to avoid the mistakes. Hint: Read The Top Five FMLA Compliance Mistakes That Could Land You in Court.

The facts, evidence, and recommendations in your case analysis should be based only on the information provided in the case, rather than your knowledge of the company and its activities “in real life”. That is, for the purpose of this analysis, I am not interested in what a company actually did, how successful a particular decision turned out to be for a company, etc., as my intent here is to see how you evaluate and work through a particular challenge given the knowledge you develop in the course.

For this week’s case, please focus only on answering the following questions in your written reply.

1. Conduct a PESTEL analysis to identify the primary trends in McDonald’s external environment; identify which trends are likely to have the greatest impact on the company’s ability to sustain a competitive advantage.

2. How is McDonald’s positioned vis-à-vis its major competitors; comment on relevant factors you identify such as company size, menu variety and menu health qualities?

3. Consider whether McDonalds is pursuing a strategy as a differentiator or as a cost leader. Describe which approach McDonalds is employing and comment on its effectiveness.

4. Consider whether McDonalds is using a global brand integration/standardization approach to international efforts or whether its attempting to be responsive to local conditions. Describe the international strategy McDonalds employees and comment on its effectiveness.

5. Consider the problems faced in the US with obesity and other health related issues that are often linked to diet. Comment on the need for McDonalds to factor societal concerns on health matters relating to its customers in formulating its strategic planning efforts.

In the presentation, you need to explain federally prohibited gender discrimination, sexual harassment in the workplace, and the role of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Research has shown that nearly 50% of American employees experience some form of workplace aggression whether it is psychological or physical.

Scenario:

The employees at your organization are voicing concerns about the negative work environment. The CEO has decided that a new training program should be created to improve the safety climate and the health and well-being of the employees. The presentation should be no longer than thirty minutes to allow employees to ask questions.

Tasks:
