    • Part 2: Project Report Presentation.
      • This presentation is an overview of the project, also intended for an executive leadership team.

    Requirements

    Part 1: Project Report

Develop your data review project report. Use the Data Review Project Report Template, linked in the Resources of this unit. This template is different from the Data Review Project Proposal Template used in Assessment 2. Authoritative sources should be integrated into the Evidence-Based Recommendations and Conclusion sections of the report.Provide a minimum of three visual data summaries (for example, pie chart, graph, spreadsheet, and process map), two evidence-based recommendations from the literature, and one new insight. Place these additions in your document under the headings: Data Display, Recommendations, and Conclusion.Add, in an appendix, the balanced scorecard table that you have created in Assessment 2.Note: The requirements outlined below correspond to the first five grading criteria in the scoring guide. Be sure that your project report addresses each point, at a minimum. You may also want to read the Data Review Project Report and Presentation Scoring Guide to better understand how each criterion will be assessed.

      • Present your visual data displays, along with a concise analysis.
      • Describe the significant findings, trends, and any new insights evident from the data summaries.
      • Determine if there are any limitations to your findings, obstacles to collection or interpretation of data, or potential for bias.
      • Ensure your data is valid and reliable.
    • Provide evidence-based recommendations, a conclusion for problem resolution, and organizational transformation.
      • Identify a short list of interventions to solve the problem, supported by current (published within the past 3–5 years) authoritative literature.
      • Consider how legal, regulatory, ethical, patient safety, and organizational factors are related to the problem.

c457 exploratory paper three

C457 Exploratory Paper Three Fall Semester 2019

Write 3 pages on ONE of the topics below

1. Write about changes in the architectural complex of New York City in relation to the culture of the city. You can pick a building, a bridge, infrastructure, or a complex of buildings for analysis and discussion. The target period of cultural impact is 1920-40, encompassing Art Deco and other styles, but the date of construction could be earlier (i.e. Brooklyn Bridge etc.)

2. Take a writer from our New York anthology and find out more about this person. Read more of the writer. How does New York culture of the early twentieth century impact on the work of this person and, perhaps, vice versa.

3. How does popular music reflect changes in the culture of New York City in the early twentieth

century (before 1950)? How does this affect the rest of the country? Consider the rise of Tin Pan Alley, Broadway theater culture, jazz clubs such as the Cotton Club, and radio. Be sure to focus on a specific topic, however.

4. Gershwin and his career, located between classical art music and popular music. In particular, what is signified by the Rhapsody in Blue?

5. Stieglitz, O’Keefe, Gallery 291 and American Art

*6. African American Experience in New York City 1920-40 and African American Poetry. Find out more about Langston Hughes, one of the greatest poets of the period, or some other figure of the period, and go with it. Remember to focus, however, and avoid merely general information.

7. Harlem Renaissance and the Jazz Age. What is the similar? What is different?

8. The Cotton Club and American Culture. What was going on there and why is it significant?

9. The immigrant experience in New York City and the contribution to American Culture. Pick specific examples that pertain to the arts. How does it relate to our discussion of “cultural spillover.”?

10. As ever, find your own topic but clear it with me before you write it.

Due date: The official due date is December 6, 2019. However, anytime from now will be good, especially if you want to write about New York. If this is the case, you should write it right away. If not, it can be provided later in the semester but note that this exploratory paper is required of all students. Minimum of at least three citations, one print-born (Jstor, Project Muse etc.) web- born. 2-3 double-spaced pages. Assigned classroom reading does not count for the new citations. Type your essay. Spelling, grammar, clarity and style count. Cite your sources clearly. Wikipedia can be used for quick reference at your own risk, but it cannot be cited as a source. Go beyond into research materials. Please upload your paper to the Assignments section in Canvas. All papers will be sent through Turnitin.com. Therefore, be sure to write in your own words. MLA or Chicago format for citations. Be consistent, whichever you choose. Citations and works cited pages should be in MLA style (for online information about citations, see http://libraries.iub.edu/help-citing-sources).

write a song about linkin park or just the band itself

Select one song that you think should have been included in this course and was not. Your task in this paper is to write what amounts to a mini-lecture about this song, capturing roughly what you would like to have heard Prof. Mercer-Taylor say about it. If you select a song from an artist or band that we have listened to one or more songs by, you should demonstrate why the song you picked reveals something new and enlightening.

There are many ways to approach this assignment. You may want to talk chiefly about the words of a song (though you should not talk ONLY about this), or about musical particulars, or about its relevance to the historical narrative of this course, or about the relevance of the artist/band who produced it. It is best if you are able to hit in some way on each of these, but this is not a hard-and-fast rule.

Your paper should be between 3 and 6 pages (typed, double-spaced, no larger than 12-point font). Pages should be numbered, and citations should take the “Notes and Bibliography” form described in the Chicago Manual of Style, with footnotes at the bottom of each page and a bibliography of all works cited (which does not factor into your page count!) at the end of your paper (the moodle page provides a link to a CMS website that will answer many basic questions about this style). Song titles should appear in quotation marks (not in italics), album titles in italics (without quotation marks).

practical connection assignment 19

Assignment:

Provide a reflection (2 pages double spaced) of how the knowledge, skills, or theories of this course have been applied, or could be applied, in a practical manner to your current work environment. If you are not currently working, share times when you have or could observe these theories and knowledge could be applied to an employment opportunity in your field of study.

It is imperative that you don’t copy from a previous paper you have submitted in another class or copy directly from a website without citing the source correctly (APA). If you copy I will have to report you to the Department Chair.

Requirements:

Use of proper APA formatting and citations. If supporting evidence from outside resources is used those must be properly cited.

Share a personal connection that identifies specific knowledge and theories from this course.

Demonstrate a connection to your current work environment. If you are not employed, demonstrate a connection to your desired work environment.

You should NOT, provide an overview of the assignments assigned in the course. The assignment asks that you reflect how the knowledge and skills obtained through meeting course objectives were applied or could be applied in the workplace.

critical process paper 10

Analyze ONE of the following topics:

1. Should alcohol, tobacco, fast food and/or pharmaceutical advertising be prohibited? Make a case for and against.

2. Select TWO public service announcements from the Ad Council ( Link) and make an argument for or against their effectiveness. What issue would you create a psa for?

3. Analyze any recent public relations campaign.

4. Discuss the cultural and economic influence of the Walt Disney Company.

Critical process papers should be written as a formal paper with an introduction, clear thesis statement, body paragraphs discussing the topic, and a strong conclusion. I’m interested in reading about what you have to say about the topic, so don’t rely too heavily on outside sources. If you do choose to quote an outside source, make sure to include an in-text citation and full citation at the end of the paper. MLA or APA format should be used for the paper. For more information about proper formatting, please visit the Purdue OWL online resource: Research and Citation Resources.

Critical process papers should be double spaced, 10-12 point font, and 4-5 pages in length. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me.

answer the following questions 342

1. Mancur Olson describes states as “stationary bandits,” while Charles Tilly questions

whether states are actually protection racketeers. Discuss (what do they mean, etc.?).

2. What is distinct about settler colonialism (as a specific form of colonialism) and its “logic

of elimination” (see Wolfe and Lloyd)? Do you think its “logic of elimination” is distinct

from or consistent with the idea of genocide (Jones)?

3. According to Tilly and Ayoob, how do the experiences of state-building in postcolonial

states differ from those of Western states?

4. Referencing the relevant course readings (Ayoob, Lacina, Kaldor, Collier), in what ways

are many recent wars –-particularly in the post-Cold War era—distinct from other wars?

5. Discuss the distinguishing characteristics of terrorism as a form of political violence.

6. Extra credit: this must be a serious effort at addressing the question, not half-

effort to earn a few points – no credit for partial effort
