Students must begin by first stating “I believe your main (basic)point was”.  You may then proceed to discuss your viewpoint and advance or clarify you contribution to the discussion topic.

Throughout the short thirteen-minute video, I could not believe what goes on and what is happening to those young vulnerable children. These children have been through all different backgrounds and traumatic experiences only to go through more. Forced to be put on medication for severe mental conditions that they do not even have, not only that but doctors who they are expected to trust to help them through their traumatic experiences. Only for them to be betrayed and to be drugged up with different medications and mixed with other ones, that are dangerous for adults to even take. They are so drugged up that they are actual zombies and or these medications can have severe side effects. Especially the ones for depression or the side effects that cause suicidal thoughts or tendencies when they should be protected and know they are loved. These doctors either don’t have the time or patience to sit and actually talk these children through their feelings and problems. The combination and amount of medications they are taking can cause these children to act out when really they did not have any of those issues beforehand.

SOCW -6111 Week 1, Discussion 2

Discussion 2: Integrating Theory and Practice

As a social work student, it is important to understand the need for theory-informed practice. As you assess, intervene, and evaluate in your practice, theory is an essential foundation for clinical social work. The use of theory to inform and guide your practice is what establishes you as a professional. In working with clients, you should always be aware of the underlying theory of your clinical approach. Through this course, you will develop the ability to better articulate the theoretical base by which you choose your interventions. You will use theory in every decision you make as it guides you through your practice. Additionally, identifying the theories in assessing and creating change will make you a more confident and skilled social work practitioner. By Day 4

Post  an analysis and description of the importance of the use of theory in clinical practice. Then describe how the use of theory relates to the social issue you presented in your Introductory Video for this week’s Assignment.
