After reading Chapter 5 of our   text and reviewing the Edutopia article, “From Curriculum to Communication: A School   Immerses Itself in Tech”   and video, Elementary Students Get a Wired Education, required this week, reflect on the level of technology   used in the school. Address the following:

What level of planning do you        believe facilitated integrating the technology into the classrooms?  How does the use of        technology address the five instructional activities (Motivation,        Orientation, Information, Application, Evaluation) listed in our text.  Describe your reaction to the        use of the technology.  Which of the tools would you        feel comfortable using?  Which would you like to know        more about?  Describe a plan for becoming        more comfortable with new technology tools and their implementation in        the classroom.

Throughout the course, you have been working with a group to complete a Final Project. This week, you will complete the final step and create a presentation individually to share.   Anti-Oppressive Social Work Practice

Anti-oppressive social work means critically reflecting on your own cultural identities and how the social environment impacts these identities. Acknowledging power and privilege can be uncomfortable; however, with values of multiculturalism and social justice, social workers are committed to engaging in their own personal work and addressing social barriers clients may experience. Social workers view clients from a strengths-based perspective utilizing client strengths to support their goals, rather than pathologizing clients from the lens of the dominant culture.

For the past six weeks, you have learned about the social construction of social identities, structural inequality based on dominant and non-dominant groups, and oppressions based on sex, class, and race. While readings have continuously pointed out white privilege as the dominant group privilege, you also know that privilege is not equally distributed in groups. Intersecting identities creates unique experiences for clients. For this assignment, you draw from what you have been learning during the first part of this course and discuss strategies for anti-oppressive social work practice. By Day 7

Submit a 2- to 3-page APA formatted paper in which you: Explain the potential impact of white privilege on clients from both dominant and minority groups (consider impact of both positive and negative stereotypes). Explain how intersecting identities might impact an individual’s experience (for example, race/ethnicity and gender, race/ethnicity and class, race/ethnicity and ability, race/ethnicity and sexual orientation, race/ethnicity and class). Providing specific examples, explain how a social worker might utilize cultural strengths when working with clients. Describe 2-3 social work skills and how a social worker might use them to engage in anti-oppressive work. Support ideas in paper with at least 2-3 course resources (please reference specific chapters, not the entire textbook) and at least one additional peer-reviewed article from the Walden library (not assigned in this course) to support your ideas.

The   Impact of Cinematography and Editing Options

 Explore movie clips from the Movieclips website or the Internet Movie Database –IMDB. Choose a clip that you wish to analyze. The clip you choose must be from a film (preferably from a film with which you are familiar) – not a film trailer or a mash-up. Re-watch your chosen movie clip while closely observing the mise en scène, making sure to analyze the placement and movement of characters and props in the scene as they relate to camera shots, color, lighting, and other elements of cinematography.
 

In your discussion, analyze at least three elements of cinematography and editing (e.g., lighting, color, shots, focus, transitions, and types of cuts) by evaluating the dramatic impact of the scene. Interpret the scene based on your analysis. In your view, what mood, symbolism, or meaning results from the scene’s creative editing and cinematography?
 

Include the name or partial name of the film clip you analyzed in the “Subject” line of your discussion. Include the link to your film clip in the body of your post. Your initial post should be at least 200 words in length. Support your claims with examples from the required material(s) and/or other scholarly resources, and properly cite any references. By Day 7, respond to at least two classmates who reviewed a different clip than your own. After watching the movie clips reviewed by your classmates, compare how the scenes would be different had the editors or cinematographers chosen other options. Each response should be a minimum of 125 words.
