EX16_AC_CH03_GRADER_CAP_HW – Northwind Traders

Project Description:

Northwind Traders, an international gourmet food distributor, hired a new CEO. She asked for your assistance in providing summaries of data that took place before she started with the company. To help her with her strategic planning, you will create queries to perform data analysis. Based on your meeting, you plan on creating four queries. One query will find orders with minor delays. Another query will summarize the cost impact of customer discounts. A third query will be used to help evaluate financing. The final query will calculate the total sales by country.

Instructions:

For the purpose of grading the project you are required to perform the following tasks:

Points Possible

1

Start Access. Open the downloaded Access file named exploring_a03_Grader_h1.

0

2

Create a query using Query Design. From the Customers table, include the fields CompanyName, ContactName, ContactTitle, and Phone (in that order). From the Orders table, include the fields OrderID, OrderDate, and ShippedDate (in that order). Run the query and then examine the records. Save the query as Shipping Efficiency.

5

3

Add a calculated field named DaysToShip to calculate the number of days taken to fill each order. (Hint: the expression will include the OrderDate and ShippedDate fields; the results will not contain negative numbers.) Run the query and then examine the results. Save the query.

10

4

Add criteria to limit the query results to include any order that took more than 30 days to ship.

5

5

Add the Quantity field from the Order Details table and the ProductName field from the Products table to the query (in that order). Sort the query by ascending CompanyName.

5

6

Add the caption Days to Ship to the DaysToShip field. Switch to Datasheet view to view the final results. Save and close the query.

5

7

Create a query using Query Design and add the Orders, Order Details, Products, and Customers tables. Add the fields OrderID and OrderDate (in that order) from the Orders table. Set both fields’ Total rows to Group By.

5

8

Add a calculated field in the third column. Name the field ExtendedAmount. This field should multiply the quantity ordered (from the Order details table) by the unit price for that item (from the Products table). Format the calculated field as Currency and change the caption to Total Dollars. Change the Total row for the ExtendedAmount field to Sum.

10

9

Add a calculated field in the fourth column. Name the field DiscountAmount. The field should multiply the number of items ordered, the price per item, and the discount field. This will calculate the total discount for each order. Format the calculated field as Currency, and add a caption of Discount Amt. Change the Total row to Sum. Run the query. Save the query as Order Summary. Return to Design view.

10

10

Add criteria to the OrderDate field so only orders made between 1/1/2016 and 12/31/2016 are displayed. Change the Total row to Where. This expression will display only orders that were created in 2016. Run the query and view the results. Save and close the query.

10

11

Create a copy of the Order Summary query named Order Financing. Switch to Design view of the new query and remove the DiscountAmount field.

5

12

Add a new field using the Expression Builder named SamplePayment. Insert the Pmt function with the following parameters:
• Use .05/12 for the rate argument (5% interest, paid monthly)
• Use the number 12 for the num_periods argument (12 months)
• Use the calculated field ExtendedAmount for the present_value
• Use 0 for both future_value and type

10

13

Change the Total row to Expression for the SamplePayment field. Change the Format for the SamplePayment field to Currency. Run the query and verify the second order has a sample payment of $125.84. Note: it will display as a negative number. Save and close the query.

10

14

Create a copy of the Order Summary query named Order Summary by Country. Replace the OrderID field with the Country field in Design view of the new query.

5

15

Run the query and then examine the summary records; there should be 5 countries listed. Switch to Design view and change the sort order so that the country with the highest ExtendedAmount is first and the country with the lowest ExtendedAmount is last. Run the query and verify the results. Save and close the query.

16

Close all database objects. Close the database and then exit Access. Submit the database as directed.

Explain the normal functions of the skeletal, nervous, and muscular systems, health and medicine homework help

Explain the normal functions of the skeletal, nervous, and muscular systems for the individual in the given scenario by doing the following:

1. Explain the basic process of movement for the musculoskeletal system.

2. Explain the basic process of the central and peripheral nervous systems. I received the attached report already but when submitted my instructor sent me the following stating information was still missing. The submission
includes accurately completed PDFs of the skeletal, muscular, and nervous
system modules with perfect scores on identifying structures, such as the
fibula, Sartorius, and cerebrum. The quadriceps, hamstring, gluteal muscles,
leg, foot, and hip are correctly identified as musculoskeletal structures that
are involved in kicking a football. It is aptly explained that the skeletal
system supports the body and that the contraction of muscle fibers results in
movement. The gross central structures are not clearly identified. An
identification of the gross peripheral structures and a description of their
normal function could not be found. I need a paper that includes all the elements of the assignment.

Explain the importance of work relationships.

You will encounter many different types of relationships in the workplace. Understanding these types of relationships will allow you to better adapt your communication accordingly. Look at some of the different work relationships at Waking Up, Inc. below. A large part of any job involves working with a diverse group of people.

Manager-Employee Relationship

Henry is Shellie’s Life Coach Director and thus is her manager. Shellie enjoys working for Henry because he is a good listener and clearly communicates to Shellie what his expectations and goals are. This makes Shellie feel comfortable about what Harry expects from her job performance. Most importantly, this allows Shellie to understand how her job fits into the overall big picture of the company. Both parties communicate often with one another, and they share power as they achieve goals, work autonomously, provide recognition, and build upon other relationships.

Coworker Relationship

Ryan and Nicole have been working together for a few months now and have a good relationship. It helps that they sit near one another and share similar interests in running. Unfortunately, not all coworker relationships in the company are as strong. They both work with Devon and do not enjoy their work environment when he is around. Devon is a self-protector; he is only concerned with making himself look good to leadership and often does not recognize the efforts of others.

To overcome obstacles related to working with Devon, Ryan and Nicole focus on the goals at hand and ensure that they support each other so that leadership will recognize their efforts.

Employee-Customer Relationship

Many jobs in today’s workplace require you to work with customers. The way a customer views a business is often directly related to an experience with the employee with whom he or she interacted. Customers want to feel valued, respected, and understood. As an employee, you want to get to know the customer’s needs, wants, and problems. The best way to handle the relationship is take responsibility for the interaction and service the customer promptly and with respect.

Now that you have reviewed the various relationships of Waking Up, Inc. employees , do you see some similarities with your own work relationships? You will answer the following questions in your blog assignment for this lesson.

Reflect on a group of which you are a member, either in an organizational setting or at school. What role or roles do you typically assume in that group? Why?

Blog post 10:

Explain the importance of defining presentation goals and purpose for your presentation.

As you have learned, in every communication situation, you should define a goal and purpose. Preparing a presentation at work is no different.

The first step in preparation is to define your goals and the purpose of the presentation. Sometimes, your manager will give you this information. However, you may also have more freedom to choose your goals and purpose. That’s when the fun kicks in!

Presentations have four general purposes from which you may choose: to inform, to persuade, to motivate, or to celebrate.

To Inform – Provide information and educate the audience about the topic.

To Persuade – Can be one of three types of persuasion; first is to change or reaffirm the audience’s existing point of view. The second is to convince or acquire the audience’s commitment, and the third is to inspire the audience to action.

To Motivate – Similar to the persuasive speech, the motivational speech will generally focus more on emotions and feelings to persuade an audience.

To Celebrate – These speeches may share many of the same characteristics as other speeches. Often you deliver these in very specific settings or at events such as award ceremonies, churches, or even weddings.

Now that you have had a chance to review the four general purposes for a presentation, think about the purposes of presentations you have attended or given. You will answer these questions in the blog post for this assignment.

Think about the last presentation you attended. What was the purpose of the presentation? Do you feel the presenter was effective in establishing the purpose of the meeting? Why or why not?

Blog post 11:

Now that you have had a chance to review how to deliver a presentation, think about how your visual, vocal, and verbal cues could affect your delivery. For your blog assignment in this lesson, you will answer the following questions.

As asked in the video, how would you change your verbal, vocal, and paralanguage cues if you were delivering an informative versus a motivational presentation?
