Junk Bonds

If you have poor
credit due to being delinquent on credit card debt or other issues,
chances are the bank is going to charge you a higher interest rate on a
personal loan, or it might not give you a loan at all. Corporations face
the same problems. If a company takes on too much debt or is otherwise
considered to be a credit risk, then it also gets low credit ratings. In
this case, if it wants to take on more debt it needs to issue what is
known as “junk bonds,” or as corporations prefer to call them,
“high-yield bonds.”

Whatever you call these types of bonds, their key feature is that
they pay higher interest than bonds from a corporation that has a high
credit rating. If you have a 401(k) or other retirement investment fund,
chances are you have the option to make a portion of your investment in
these higher risk/higher return bonds.

Do some research on junk bonds. What kind of controversies do
you see with them? Do you think they are a solid investment for your
retirement, perhaps no riskier than most investments? Or do they deserve
the derogatory term “junk”? Share the links to the articles you find
with your classmates, and discuss your opinions as to whether you think
the higher interest rate justifies the increased risk.

The department of health scope of practice asks, Is the act within standard of care?, Do you have current clinical skills to perform the act safely?

The 6 main categories of practice are assessment, analysis, outcome identification, planning, implementation and evaluation. By these categories we are able to provide excellent care to our patients.

Different entities that might be involved in developing a standard of practice are : American Nurses Association and The Joint Commission on Accreditation of health Organization, have established and recognized standards of care.

Standards of care are found at the national and state level. State boards of nursing develop standards of care at state level and enforce those standards. The American Nurse Credentialing Center(ANCC) work on the national level. Professional specialty nursing organizations, State Board of Nursing, Educational institutions, and other health agencies develop standards of care.

All those health organizations work together to develop nursing standards of practice and develop better health system.

National Drilling Company ships its only pump to American Hydraulics Corporation, the manufacturer, for repair. National hires Overland Transport, Inc., to take the pump to American Hydraulics and to return it to National as soon as the repair is complete. National is forced to suspend operations without a pump, but Overland does not know this. National expects to be without the pump for five days and to lose profits of $5,000. When the pump is not returned by the end of the fifth day, National rents a pump at a cost of $100 per day. Overland delays five more days before returning the pump. National files a suit against Overland, asking for compensatory, consequential, and punitive damages. Will National recover?
