Drama Research Paper Question

Drama Paper: Mini-research paper (4-5 pages, Times Roman 12, double-spaced)

In this paper, as in our previous assignments, you will be doing a close reading, but with two differences: (1) this paper asks you to examine two works and compare/contrast them, and (2) this paper requires research.  In this paper, you will compare and contrast Shakespeare’s Hamlet and Henrik Ibsen’s A Doll House.  Your larger purpose in comparing/contrasting them is to consider the concept of tragedy.  Your thesis should make an assertion about the nature of tragedy in both works.

This paper will address the following questions:

  • How are these two plays different?  Do these differences tell us something about the nature of tragedy?
  • How are these two plays similar?  Do these similarities tell us something about the nature of tragedy, or about the difference between Shakespearean drama and “modern” theater?

In this assignment, you are confined to discussing these two plays, but within this framework, you are free to choose what order to address these questions in and how to create a thesis that focuses your discussion.  Feel free to emphasize comparison and de-emphasize contrast or vice-versa, as long as in some way you have done both.  Be sure to give equal time to both plays, however.

It is also up to you how to use research in this paper.  My recommendation is that you use it to bolster your discussion of tragedy, drawing from scholarly sources to create your definitions, but you may also want to use articles on the plays themselves to help with your readings.  This is fine, as long as the following conditions are met:

  1. All sources must be cited correctly using MLA documentation.  This includes (1) in-text citations and (2) a Works Cited page.
  2. You must use at least five sources.  There is no maximum: if you would like to include more sources, that’s fine, but since our objective is close reading, it’s definitely not necessary.

Length: This is a lot of material to cover in 4-5 pages.  This means you need to be very concise.  Do not go over five pages!  Less is more.

Business Organizations Regulation

As you reflect on your time at Phishy Pharmaceuticals, you decide it is time to move on with your career. You have always wanted to start you own restaurant business and be an entrepreneur. As an entrepreneur, you must decide whether the business should operate as one of the major forms of business organization, sole proprietorship, general partnership, limited partnership, limited liability partnership, limited liability company, or corporation, or under other available legal business forms.

Your selection depends on many factors, including the ease and cost of formation, the capital requirements of the business, the flexibility of management decisions, government restrictions, personal liability, tax considerations, and the like. You must choose one of the major forms of business that is best for your business. (For this assignment, you should not choose a sole proprietorship for your business entity.) In your initial Discussion Board post, you must address each of the following:

  1. The defining legal characteristics of your business entity
  2. The advantages and disadvantages of your legal business entity
  3. The operating agreement required by your entity
  4. Why that entity choice is the best for your business

digital technologies, communications assignment help

1- To continue our conversation about digital technologies that we began last week, I would ask how all of you think one might convey active engagement with another’s ideas within a digital context, such as our own classroom. Without body language or gestural communication, we do not have all the communication tools at our disposal as we would in a face to face scenario. However, there might be other ways of modeling active engagement with others within digital forums, beyond simply responding, What might be some of these ways?

2- What are some key advantages and disadvantages to traditional, written media?

3-print media is more likely to have been fact-checked and thus may be more reliable than news that is disseminated digitally. However, as you point out, John, print media may not be as timely. Nevertheless, many valid arguments have been made about the democratic ethos of social media; we live in an age in which the average person may spread awareness about an issue or concern via a social media platform. Still, the news that is spread by that person may not be accurate.

This conversation seems especially timely given the political landscape at the moment. , what are your thoughts?

4- how does your consideration of the audience affect your planning process? How can you use an audience analysis and determine an audience’s needs before composing your message?

5- Why is it important to maintain a manageable scope in communicating your message?

6- What are the three steps of the writing process, and how do they apply to business communication?

7-Discuss the value of careful revision, and describe the tasks involved in evaluating your first drafts and the work of other writers.

8-Describe the listening process and explain how good listeners overcome barriers at each stage of the process.

9-Explain how to achieve a tone that is conversational but businesslike, explain the value of using plain language, and define active and passive voice.

10-Define the four types of sentences and explain how sentence style affects emphasis within a message.

Has social media become necessary for businesses, communications homework help

Social media has become necessary for businesses. If you can’t be found online and don’t have great pictures of your services, how will anyone know what you do- or that you exist? Social media is good for business because it allows communication between it and its consumers. People are able to feel closer to a product or company they love, or at least use, and the company benefits from the business they keep and gain from the new followers. My husband’s family business uses Facebook to interact with customers and in return people will post what great work they did. Social media can easily tear down a business now matter how long it has taken to be built up. One popular example now is of Joel O’steen. He has a huge physical and online following.

SPHS511 Week 3 Annotated Bibliography

Using the research topic you picked last week, find ten scholarly references and create an annotated bibliography with annotations for all ten of your sources.

Articles should be within 5 years (stay away from over 10 year old articles unless it is seminal research). Books can be 10 years old; however, they generally do not contain the most current information. Try to stay away from dissertations and Master’s theses. You can look within dissertations or theses for sources in the references to use to advance the knowledge on your topic.

A sample annotated bibliography is attached. Your lessons and the library will have additional information regarding the proper creation of an Annotated Bibliography.

Case Study #8

“Mani Lost His Job”

Manipi, or Mani as his friends call him, is a 42-year-old Native American, married factory worker with two children. He lives in a small town in western Pennsylvania that is located about an hour away from the nearest major city. The factory where he works manufactures chairs. Mani has been working the graveyard shift, from 11pm to 7am for about six years. The hours are terrible and he never really got used to them. He tries to sleep when he gets home in the early morning, but finds it difficult because his children are getting ready for school at that time and his wife is getting ready for work. Even if he waits to go to bed until everyone leave the house, Mani still has trouble sleeping in the daytime. He is tired all the time, but at least he get some sleep on the weekends. Sometimes Mani thinks that if he could just get enough sleep he would be a truly happy man.

Between their two incomes, Many and his wife are able to comfortably support their family. They bought a small house. There’s always food on the table, and their children have decent clothes to wear. The house, the food, and the clothes are not fancy, but always adequate, until recently. Mani just lost his job.

Mani’s plant was bought out by a rival overseas company and initially there seemed to be no change in the production schedule. Then one Friday Mani received notice this would be his last day and told to take all his personal belongings with him at the end of his shift. The factory was shutting down immediately to be retooled as a totally automated production line. Mani was devastated by the news and so were his coworkers.

It seemed like the chair factory had always been there and always would be. People from Mani’s community had fathers who worked there and had retired from that company. Some even had grandfathers who had worked there. They thought their jobs were secure. They were wrong.

Mani and his coworkers always took pride in their work. They crafted their chairs by hand, using tools their fathers had used before them and they built an excellent product. Mani was especially proud of the intricate designs he made on the backs of the chairs he produced. His skill earned him the respect of his coworkers.

Now, two months after the closing, Mani is not proud of very much. He has not been able to find any other work, and he is embarrassed by the prospect of not being able to support his family. Although he and his wife have been able to make ends meet temporarily because of her job and his unemployment compensation, he is not sure what will happen when that runs out. How will they meet their mortgage, or put food on the table much less save for retirement?

Depending on his wife’s income has been especially difficult for Mani. He believes that he should be the primary breadwinner, but his wife has been incredibly supportive since the plant closing. She is constantly trying to boost his self-esteem and has never complained once about the things they had to give up. Mani loves her very much and wishes he could do more for her and for his children, who he adores. He would give anything to go back to being tired all the time if he could have his old job back. He feels useless and incompetent.

Using Chapter 15 as your guideline, address the following issues or questions as they relate to Maslow’s need hierarchy:

  • Which of Maslow’s needs were met for Mani before he was laid off?
  • Which of Maslow’s needs were met for Mani after he was laid off?
  • Which of Maslow’s needs were not met for Mani after he was laid off?

Option #1: A Communications Case Study

Several issues have arisen on the Recreation and Wellness Intranet Project. The person from the HR department who was supporting the project left the company, and now the team needs more support from that group. A member of the user group that supports the project is extremely vocal and hard to work with, and other users can hardly get a word in at meetings. The project manager, Tony, is getting weekly status reports from all of his team members, but many of them do not address obvious challenges that people are facing. The team is having difficulty deciding how to communicate various project reports and documents and where to store all of the information being generated.

The team members include you, a programmer/analyst and aspiring project manager; Patrick, a network specialist; Nancy, a business analyst; and Bonnie, another programmer/analyst.

Write a paper that includes a partial communications management plan to address some of the challenges mentioned in the previous paragraph. Offer two approaches to communicating with the hard-to-work-with user.

Your well-written paper should meet the following requirements:

  • Length: three pages in length
  • Include two external references in addition to the textbook
  • Format according to CSU-Global APA guidelines.
