Select a health care organization in your community to conduct an interview with an appropriate risk management employee. The organization can be your current employer, or a different health care facility in your community. Acute care, urgent care, large multi-provider private medical clinics, assisted living facilities, and community/public health clinical facilities are all ideal options to complete the requirements of this assignment. Make sure to select an individual who can provide sufficient information regarding how that organization manages risk within its facility to answer the questions below.

In your interview, address the following:

  3. How the facility’s educational risk management program addresses key professional issues, such as prevention of negligence, malpractice litigation, and vicarious liability.

Read the “Research Areas of Emphasis in Professional Psychology” article and select a topic of psychological research discussed in the article (e.g., evidence-based treatments, veterans/active military, multicultural issues, ethical issues, suicide, chronic pain, interpersonal violence). This topic will be used as the focus of the literature review you will be creating as part of your Final Project, as well as for aspects of other assignments within this course, so select a topic that is of personal interest to you.

In your post, discuss some of the methodological issues unique to this psychological research.

  • State the topic you selected and then write two potential research questions that could be explored on the topic you selected.
  • Identify at least one potential research design to answer each of the research questions you wrote (you will identify a total of two designs).

Understanding the Court System

The U.S. Court System is a complex system that includes both federal
and state-level courts. The federal system includes the judicial branch
of the government. This system is designed to help society interpret the
U.S. Constitution and provide guidelines for society. Court cases may
concern many different topics and have an unlimited number of outcomes.

Use the Internet or Strayer databases to research a civil or criminal court case in which you are interested.

Write a five to eight (5-8) page paper in which you:

  1. Summarize the seminal facts of the case that you chose.
  2. Explain the main laws that have been violated in the case that you chose.
  3. Describe the possible penalties that could be associated with the laws that you just described.
  4. Explain
    whether your specific case was heard in the state or federal court
    system, and include any related jurisdictional requirements. Explain the
    fundamental reasons why it was necessary for the case to be heard in
    that particular court system.
  5. Summarize the outcome of the case, and indicate whether the judge or jury made the decision.
  6. Discuss whether or not you believe that the outcome of the case was justified. Provide a rationale for the response.
