D. The specific biome of where your organism lives. Please see here for more details on biomes.

II. The Body: this section should contain

A. Background: include a general physical description of your organism.

B. Life Cycle: describe the life cycle of your organism. The life cycle refers to the series of changes that happens from the beginning of life as your organism develops and grows into a mature organism. Please see here for some hints on the Life Cycle. Note that some organisms (like plants) have a more complex life cycle than an animal does. If you have any questions on this please ask!

C. Structure and Function: please select one organ system of your organism that you find to be particularly interesting and describe both the anatomy and physiology of that system.

b. If your organism is a plant, here are a list of the general plant organ systems

D. Evolution: Evolution is best understood as heritable change over time, or descent with modification. Please be sure to discuss the evolution of your organism using the following guidance:

a. Conduct a review of scientific literature to understand what is known about the evolution of your chosen organism. Search key words like evolution, fossil, ancestor. Also, refer back to your results from Assignment 1.

For example, does your organism have an interesting parental care strategy or mating system? What about an adaptation or co-dependence with another species?

III. Conclusion section: this section should contain four to six bullet points that sum up the main points from the outline.

A. Start your conclusive section with one sentence summarizing some basic information about your chosen organism (name and geographical distribution).

B. Continue with a brief summary (1-2 sentences) about the life cycle and any particular body structures.

C. Include a brief note about its evolutionary path.

D. Include a brief summary (1-2 sentences) about the ecological role of your chosen organism in its ecosystem.

C. What is an annotated bibliography and what is its purpose?

1. An annotation is a brief description of a critical, scholarly piece of writing. Each annotation should include bibliographic information. For this writing assignment, the annotations should be critical, not descriptive. The student will need to go beyond writing a mere summary or abstract.

2. The purposes are multiple:

The activity teaches students how to evaluate sources for research purposes.

Students learn to compose brief reactions to a scholarly work.

Students engage critical thinking skills to determine the relevance and integrity of the sources.

Students review the major components of audience: they determine the audience for the original article and determine whether or not the source will be useful to their own intended readers.

Students use library resources and build upon the skills they will need in other upper level college courses.

Finally, students gain knowledge of the subjects they are investigating. They are able to learn how professional writers view and critique literary works.

D. What should the annotations include?

1.Complete bibliographic information

2.Some or all of the following:

a. Information to explain the authority and/or qualifications of the author. For example: “Dr. John Guzlowski, a literature professor at Harvard University, based his article on three years of extensive research.”

b. Scope and main purpose of the work. For instance, is the purpose to explain an often overlooked element in the work of one of the authors you have selected or to assert a theory on the meaning of a particular work?

c.Point of view or perspective from which the article is written. Note if the article is biased, reliable, or cogent.

d.Intended audience and level of reading difficulty.

e. A personal comment on and evaluation of the legitimacy of the work.

____________________________________________________________

E. Which steps should I follow to successfully complete this assignment?

Creating an annotated bibliography requires the utilization of a variety of critical thinking skills you will use throughout your academic and professional careers: precise exposition, compact analysis, and careful library research.

First, locate and record citations to articles that may contain useful & interesting information and ideas on your topic.

Next, carefully read and review the actual items. Then choose those works that provide a variety of perspectives on your author and/or her work.

Suggested: Print copies of the articles you plan to use so that it is easier for you to highlight information you may want to quote, paraphrase or summarize in your annotation.

Cite the book, article, or document using the appropriate style.

Check your MLA manual or use easybib.com

Write a concise annotation that summarizes the central theme and scope of the book or article. Include one or more sentences that

(a) evaluate the authority or background of the author,

(b) comment on the intended audience,

(c) compare or contrast this work with another you have cited and/or

(d) explain how this work illuminates your understanding of your bibliography topic.

During the writing process, you need to review your writing to ensure that you have not borrowed the writer’s words without placing them in quotation marks. Also, you may not use an abstract in place of your own articulated understanding of the work.

Plagiarism will result in a grade of F for the assignment and course.

1. This should be addressed to Abigail Evans

Hello Classmates,

My name is Abigail Evans and I am 26 years old. I am the proud mother of two precious little girls and I am currently expecting my third child. To me, I am very shy and laid back. To others, I am very outgoing and confident. All in all, I am a great person and fairly easy to get along with. I was born in Las Vegas, Nevada and we later moved to Jackson, Tennessee where my dad retired from the military. I got married to my best friend in 2014 and we are still going strong. I absolutely love my life and I love the Lord. I am interested in singing and dancing. Within the church, I use both my singing and dancing gifts to minister to others. Ultimately, I just want to please God in everything that I do.

I am currently seeking to obtain my Bachelor’s degree in Health Care Management/Business. I have my Associate’s degree in Medical Assisting, so I have a lot of experience within the medical field. However, with getting my Bachelor’s in Health Care Management I would be able to be more on the business side of things.

English 101 was not hard but, it also was not easy. I learned that there are many ways that I can improve my writing. I believe that digging deeper within a topic can assist me when it comes to getting readers to understand my topic even more. However, I did not receive the grade I wanted but, I am looking to do much better this time around.

2. This should be addressed to Jimmy Bivens

Hello everyone,

My name is Jimmy Bivens. I have worked for the State of Tennessee (TRICOR) for almost 24 years. At TRICOR, we provide training to incarcerated individuals for future success in returning to society. My wife Debbie and I have been married for 30 years. We have two children, Tiffany 29 and Ryne 25. My hobbies comprise: Coaching baseball, playing golf, and spending time with my granddaughters. I love to assist people achieve things they thought were impossible.

I started my educational journey back in 1984 and as life transpires things changed. In 2012, I decided to take an online course, in History, to see if I could keep up with work, family and school. I did well in the course, but I made excuses why this was not going to work for me. Then in 2016, I made the commitment to myself that I would finish what I had begun in 1984. If everything goes as planned, I will receive my B.S. in Organizational Leadership in August 2018. The main purpose for me completing my degree is eventually I would like to be TRICOR’s CEO and without a degree this opportunity would not be available.

My skills in writing a paper were far from the level needed to be in my current position as Chief Operations Officer. Writing a research paper had me apprehensive, because I was fearful I would not complete the paper in the correct format. However, after going through the five weeks of English 101, I gained confidence in my writing abilities and with my professor and cohorts feedback, I was able to create a good evidence based research paper.

The Niagara Falls incident in 2002 hit very close to home for any undocumented high school students in Phoenix

Turn in two complete paragraphs in MLA formatting that answer this prompt. Your final writing should be about 1-1.5 pages (350-500 words in MLA).

The Niagara Falls incident in 2002 hit very close to home for any undocumented high school students in Phoenix. In your short write, provide the background information of the Niagara Fall incident and then choose one of the boys (Oscar Corona) in the book (Spare Parts) to explain how his involvement in the Robotics team is a big risk for him (and his family, if you’d like). Make sure you include details about the boy and his immigrant status in the US. While there is no need for personal opinion statements (Using “I”), you might consider weighing in on the situation at the very end of your ShortWrite.

Complete Lesson 4 Primary Source History Essay

Instructions

Choose and Read any 2 of the following (2 documents from the same collection are acceptable):

Write a 500 word essay citing the primary sources and Hine & Faragher at least 5 times. Cite at least two primary sources and Hine & Faragher. In your essay, think back to the readings from Hine & Faragher. The Primary Source essay is less formal than the Textbook Essay. You have some freedom with the Primary Source essay in that you may write in the first person if you would like. You may choose to write in a reflective manner as well. Think along these lines:

  • Where do the primary sources help you understand the Hine & Faragher text better?
  • How do the primary sources help you understand the people who wrote them?
  • How do the primary sources fit with what you understood of the History of this period before reading the sources?
  • Do they support what you have long thought regarding the period?
  • Do they challenge your views of the period?
  • Do they make you aware of things you had never heard of?
  • What surprises you in the primary sources?

Conversely, you may write in a scientific fashion, thinking along these lines:

  • Who are the authors?
  • What are the authors’ arguments?
  • What are the authors’ audiences?
  • Why did the authors produce the sources? What is going on in their worlds to prompt the sources’ production?
  • What were the primary sources’ effects on the world?
  • Why do the primary sources matter?
  • How do your primary sources bolster an argument in favor of one of your own theological, political, social, etc., theory
  • How do your primary sources support or refute Hine & Faragher.

Identify your chosen primary sources clearly so that I can find them. If they are from an outside source, be sure to include a link at the bottom of the essay.

Citations can be simple parenthetical citations. I simply need to be able to find what you are citing. For example:

  • (Hine & Faragher, 17)
  • (de las Casas, A Short Account, 2)
  • (Cortés, Letter)

If you are citing outside sources that I have not assigned, please provide a link at the bottom of the page, along with a title that matches the citation.

Always quote any words that are taken verbatim from Hine & Faragher or anyone else in order to prevent plagiarism. Citations go within the essay immediately after the sentence they support. Using the example from the Textbook Essay instructions, I might say:

  • The Civil War had a dramatic effect on the West in many ways, including an outward migration of African Americans from the South. (Hine & Faragher, 370-373) For example, Hine & Faragher describe “yet another mass exodus to the western promised land” in 1879 when free black Americans moved to western lands. (Hine & Faragher, 370-371)

Remember:

  • 500 words
  • Cite the primary sources and Hine & Faragher at least 5 times.
  • Cite at least 2 different primary sources, unless the instructions specifically state that one primary source will beenough.(This occasionally happens in lessons with longer primary sources.)
  • Identify your chosen primary sources clearly so that I can find them.
