If a law enforcement officer has probable cause to believe a vehicle contains small concealable items, such as drugs or stolen items like rare coins and jewels, to what extent can he or she search the vehicle without a warrant under the Carroll doctrine? Can the upholstery be ripped open? Can the vehicle be dismantled? Can the tires be taken off to look inside them? Can pillows, radios, clothing, and other potential containers be dismantled or ripped apart?

Health and Wellness Nutrition today may be confusing

Nutrition today may be confusing and with all the foods around us we have to make some important decisions. Just try to checkout at a grocery store and look at all the candy and chips. Should you just buy one or stick to a good diet. We need such willpower today. Overeating and giant portions have taken over. Ever eat at Cheesecake Factory (yes, factory) and look at the portions. You know the portions are enough for 2 – 3.

Before participating in this discussion read chapter 3. Decide what is important to you. Is it portions , reading a food label, eating for nutrition, paying special attention to the fat content, calories, dietary fiber, antioxidants or supplements?

Please answer all the following questions below:

First, choose a nutrition topic that relates to you and a change you need to make and not just “I need to eat more fruits and vegetables” because we all need that. But, research a topic and tell the class. You may create your own topic. Write at least one paragraph.

Secondly, include one of your favorite food you like to eat and tell us why or why not you should be eating this particular food. Analyze the nutritional label by telling us whether is has too much fat, carbohydrates. protein, too much sugar, salt, etc. Use real numbers from the label and back up your statements.

Full credit will not be given for this discussion until you have included:

  • information from a food label
  • numbers from a food label (carbohydrates, proteins, fats)

All discussions should be 1-2 paragraphs in length and check your grammar

3 (300+ word questions answers)

300 Words at min for each answer with sources if possible. I can give example answers however they can not be copied but followed. Could recommend using the book ” Prorothero, Stephen Religion Matters, Chapter 2,3 and 4.

1. How would you respond to a friend or family member who says that “Hinduism is a polytheistic religion that has millions of gods.” Is that true? Is it false? Is it more complicated than that? Be sure to refer to specific concepts from our reading in composing your answer.

2. Before he died, the Buddha (Siddhartha Gautama) refused to appoint an individual successor. Instead, he appoint the sangha (Buddhist community) as a whole to succeed him. Why do you think he did this? Do you think it has influenced the historical and institutional development of Buddhism because he did this? Try to use examples from what you’ve read this week and learned in class to provide a reflection on this speculative question.

3. Why do you think some people see Sikhism as a combination of Hinduism and Islam? What are some specific factors (geography, history, culture) that may account for that impression?

Business HW

Chapter Three discusses Alternative Dispute Resolution (“ADR”). What are the benefits of ADR? More specifically, what are some of the benefits you see ADR having in the business world today? Do you think ADR should be encouraged or do you agree more with the principle that everyone is entitled to having their “day in court?”

A good/excellent post should demonstrate a complete understanding of the week’s readings, assignments, and videos, if applicable. Further, you must respond to other student’s posts as well wherein you are expected to elaborate on those posts with your own thoughts or respectful disagreements. The responses to fellow student posts must be more then a mere “I agree” or “I think you’re right.” Rather, response posts must be of a nature similar to that you would have in person during a physical classroom setting.

A weekly discussion grade of “A” will require you to have all your postings completed before the deadlines (see Calendar) and demonstrate an excellent knowledge and understanding of the readings and assignments. Additionally, a response and question for one of your fellow classmates must be posted at least once a week. (Note: See respect policy above) Your opinions and thoughts must be thoughtful and supported with appropriate information from the readings or videos, if applicable. All opinions should be supported with specific reference to material from our readings and videos indicating the page number and/or section where you found the support. Every post should demonstrate a substantial amount of critical thinking in regards to that week’s readings and discussion question.

Read scenario and answer the questions.

Considering both vision and hearing, imagine loss of one or both and how you would feel? Added to this scenario is an elderly person, not in control of their own lives in many aspects. Often they have been moved into facilities, such as nursing homes against their will and they are confused about their new surroundings. Now go back and consider adding this to the isolation felt because they have lost one or more of their senses.

Instructions:

  1. Summarize the above in a few sentences of a situation you have experienced with an elderly patient, or, just talk about how you believe these people cope with their losses.
  2. What response might you expect from them, either in the area of behavior or psychology?
  3. Is this what you found with the elderly you have known during work or in your family?

Determining a Diagnosis

Review the diagnostic criteria on pages 99-100; 160-161; 561-562 of the DSM-5.

A counselor’s own perception of psychopathology is extremely important in the diagnostic process.

Using the case study of “Tina”, write a 500-750 word essay in which you examine your thought process about her presenting issues. Include the following in your paper:

  1. Discuss the historic and cross-cultural perspectives of psychopathology that could potential impact the diagnosis and treatment of Tina.
  2. After reviewing the several diagnoses that could pertain to Tina from the latest version of the DSM, what is your diagnostic impression?
  3. Substantiate your diagnostic impression with appropriate criteria from the current version of the DSM.
  4. Discuss how historic misconceptions of psychopathology could potentially impact the treatment of this client. As part of this discussion, you may include a diagnosis, any referrals that you would make, and a general course of treatment.
  5. Include at least five scholarly references in addition to the textbook in your paper.

Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.

Interventions SMART Goals

Duration of Intervention

Interventions of choice Conclusion

Critically examine and summarize background, assessment, diagnosis, evidence-based practices, interventions, and evaluation.

Details by Section
Introduction: (approximately 1-2 pages)
This section describes the agency and the client.

Describe
your agency. Inform the reader where you work, and what type of clients
the agency serves. Explain the services offered/used with clients.
Provide a description of the client that includes standard characteristics such as age, sex, ethnicity, and family composition.

Provide
the client’s history, especially information on earlier life history.
Include the details ordinarily incorporated in a clinical case study.
Describe the reason for seeking treatment and presenting concerns or symptoms.
Discuss
the client’s culture, how this may be affecting his/her development,
and the considerations you need to make to be culturally competent (you
should include at least one reference about cultural
competence/humility, as relevant to this client).

Assessment: (Approximately 2 pages)
In
this section, you will diagnose your client. You will use the DSM-5
(APA, 2013) to apply diagnostic criteria about your client to the
client’s diagnosis to demonstrate that the client meets the criteria of
that diagnosis.

Please also explain the assessments that were or
will be used for diagnosis and why you chose them (e.g., Beck’s
Depression Inventory, ADIS, Connor’s, etc.).

End this section with
your client’s prognosis. Describe the client’s potential for recovery
and relapse prevention and how you reached that conclusion.

Evidence-based practices: (Approximately 4-5 pages)
In
this section, explicitly incorporate principles of logic (your
decision-making process), scientific inquiry (how you located and
examined the available research), and culturally informed (account for
diversity, differences, and cultural humility), ethical approaches, and
evaluation data (use NASW Code of Ethics, 2017) to appraise clinical
practice and program outcomes.

As you complete this section,
include information about how you will use the process of evidence-based
practice to translate research findings into effective practice.
In
this section, include three or more citations/peer-reviewed articles
supporting your practice interventions from BOTH quantitative and
qualitative research methods determining your evaluation of clinical
practice and program outcomes (how your program outcomes were met or not
met by your clinical outcome).
Discern and translate quality
evidence-based research for application to the process of
decision-making in practice and program contexts. Discuss your process
for locating quality research including quantitative and qualitative
methods and how you used that evidence to inform your practice
decisions. You may need to use professional journals in multiple fields.
For example, if your case study is about a student who is a client in a
school setting, your quantitative and qualitative research articles can
derive from both mental health journals as well as education. If you’re
working with an older adult in a geriatric setting, your research
should involve health care and mental health.

Life-long learning-
Discuss what steps you will take to remain current with the research and
practices as it pertains to your client population (e.g., if you’re
working with a child with an anxiety disorder, then describe how you
will remain current with research and practice for childhood anxiety
disorders).

Contributions to the research base- how can you
contribute your findings to the existing knowledge base while
maintaining confidentiality. For example, you could share at an
in-service or a professional conference the evidence-based process you
took applying research to practice and the evaluation practice of
assessing effectiveness of interventions.

Intervention(s): (Approximately 2 pages)
In
this section, you will use informed decision making identified in the
evidence-based practice section to identify and justify your methods of
intervention with the client.
Determine a minimum of two goals and describe the objectives for each goal. Use S.M.A.R.T goals and objectives.
Decide on whether your intervention will be short or long term and give a rationale.
Using
at least two or more peer-reviewed research articles, describe the
interventions you would use, and how you believe this will help the
client change and function more effectively. Be explicit about how your
interventions are grounded in evidence, and how the specific approach/es
selected are expected to facilitate treatment goal achievement.

Conclusion: (Approximately 1-2 pages)
Include
a strong conclusion that reflects on your critical examination of your
client and what outcomes you anticipate given their background, your
assessment, the diagnosis, evidence-based practices, and interventions.
Please
disguise clinical information on the case study as well as within your
group. Use a single initial, “Mr./Ms. Smith,” or simple first names for
children. If you do not have access to certain information or a current
case, please discuss this with the professor within the first week of
the term.

Please follow APA 7 th edition style guidelines that include 12-point Times New Roman font,

double-spaced,
and one inch margins. It is strongly recommended to use headings (noted
in the outline) throughout your paper. A minimum of 5 outside,
peer-reviewed sources (outside of class means professional journal
articles not assigned in class) as well as in-class material. There are a
number of resources available through the library to assist the
students (including e-journals, search engines, and interlibrary and
intercampus loan).

I have discussion board

This week, we’ll continue our exploration of eugenics, paying particular attention to the historical intersection of eugenic ideas and practices with respect to hormonal birth control. From there, we will investigate a provocative ethnographic case study of fetal surgery, during which time we will reflect on some of the thorny methodological issues involved with the study and reporting of controversial scientific and technological issues. Finally, we’ll then turn our attention towards the Ehrenreich and English pamphlet ‘Complaints and Disorders: The Sexual Politics of Sickness.‘ As always, we have a week filled to the brim with content – and discussion board questions!…

Please aim to respond to this fourth discussion board by end of day this Friday July 30th. Thanks!!

Do assumptions about gender inform the beliefs and practices relating to medical care (or lack thereof)?

Can we think of examples where gender has influenced – positively or negatively – the particular diagnosis and/or treatment provided to an individual or group of individuals in the realm of medicine? (No need to disclose personal information here!! Examples should be of a more general variety.)

How do assumptions about race, ethnicity, and class/SES intersect with assumptions about gender in the realm of medicine such that particular diagnostic or treatment patterns form?

Are there ideas, practices, or values with respect to medical settings that could/should be different than they are currently? Are there ideas, practices and/or values in the medical field that we might like to see implemented, discarded, reformed, etc.?

As always, these prompts are merely meant to serve as possible entry points. Please feel free to chime in with any thoughts or questions that strike your fancy!
