The purpose of this assignment is to examine stereotypes on television to see if it promotes prejudice and discrimination. Pick a television program (you can also use a movie if you want) of your choice; it should be something fairly current and can be a drama or a situation comedy. Using what you have learned from your readings, analyze the program and answer the following questions in your essay:

What is the overall storyline and setting of the television program/movie? Who are the main characters? (Remember you will need to provide a proper citation for the program/movie.)

Does the program portray the main or supporting characters in a stereotypical manner in terms of race, ethnicity, gender, age, etc? If yes, describe the stereotypes and explain how the stereotypes might promote prejudice and discrimination. If the program does not seem to promote stereotypes, explain how it was able to avoid doing so.

Discuss the impact of stereotypes depicted in the media on individuals and society, using at least two contemporary examples. (These are not what you have talked about in regards to the tv program/movie but two additional examples from the media- for example: the news, in magazine ads, commercials, etc.)

This article helps us see that there is nothing new about understanding the component of effective communication. But while the concepts of ethos, pathos, and logos have been understood since Aristotle back in 350 BC, being able to use them in our real life is a whole other set of issues.

Issues like self-esteem, love, hate, anger, happiness, worries, violence, tenderness, rejection, acceptance, dependence, and independence are just a few of the characteristics that infuse communication with powerful meanings over, under, up and around the words that come out of our mouths.

While it can be difficult, we can take important steps towards increased self-awareness by pushing ourselves to become more conscious of how these types of emotions affect our communication with others. So, where are we? We now know about ethos, pathos, and logos, the three basic elements of communication first identified by Aristotle. We are also working on improving our own communication skills through increasing our self-awareness of how we actually communication with others. And finally, we are starting to look at the role emotions play in how we relate to each other in both verbal and nonverbal ways.

by LTD Capital, a large equity group with over 15 holdings. LTD
Acceptance is the parent company’s single largest holding as it drives
70% of total revenue. Due to the inherent risk involved in that segment
of the market, many of LTD Acceptance’s competitors do not offer
policies for sports cars or motorcycles. This market segment is
underserved which is why the organization has 20,000 active policies for
a sports car or a motorcycle.

LTD is headquartered in Houston, TX. LTD does not sell insurance
directly to the public. Instead, it uses third-party agents to sell its
policies. LTD handles all customer service needs including claims
intake, policy services, and general questions. The company operates in
four states: California, Texas, Louisiana, and Florida. Currently, LTD
does not have an active system in place to ensure that its agents are in
fact using LTD guidelines to screen potential policyholders. However,
no evidence of negligence has emerged so far as the organization has yet
to have a year in which it was not profitable. LTD has also had the
good fortune of not suffering losses because of natural disasters or
catastrophic events.

Organizations in every sector experience breakdowns or failures that
compromise the efficiency and efficacy of their operations. This
concept is defined as an operational failure. Operational failures have a
direct and adverse impact on profitability. As such, the shareholders
want assurance that the risk management team is actively working on
mitigating the occurrence of these failures. As the newly hired senior
risk analyst, you are responsible for outlining a plan to do just that.
For this deliverable, provide a report to your supervisor which
provides a framework for managing operational risk exposures. Your

Juan’s dismissal appeared to be imminent due to numerous complaints and even a few lawsuits over inaccurate prescriptions. Juan now was asking Ben for his assistance in trying to resolve the problem, preferably yesterday!

“Ben, I really need your help! If I can’t show some major improvement or at least a solid plan by next month, I’m history.”
“I’ll be glad to help, Juan, but what can I do? I’m just a pharmacist’s assistant.”
