Assignment 1: Retrospective Analysis of Personality

Assignment 1: Retrospective Analysis of Personality

In this assignment, begin by taking a retrospective look at your life
history, to discuss which aspects of your personality have remained
consistent and which aspects of your personality have changed over
time. Then, analyze the roles of nature and nurture in shaping your
personality. Subsequently, discuss possible sources of inaccuracy and
bias in any retrospective analysis. Finally, discuss the reasons why
systematic scientific studies are considered more valuable than
individual accounts.

Write a three to four (3-4) page paper in which you:

  1. Reflect on your life history and discuss which aspects of your
personality have changed over time and which aspects have stayed
    consistent.
  2. Based on your retrospective analysis, describe the roles of nature
and nurture in shaping your personality. Reflect on your justification
for distinguishing between nature and nurture.

person looks back on their past history. Be sure to discuss factors
related to memory and factors related to cognition.

results based on scientific studies than it does on personal experience
    and anecdotes.

Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:

  • Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with
one-inch margins on all sides; references must follow APA or

movie essay must be at least 3 pages

MOVIE ESSAY

Instructions:

This essay is minimum 3 pages, maximum 5 pages. It is
due June 1st , 2018. Choose a movie, any movie you want, and apply
the concepts you’ve learned in this class to the movie. Though you can choose
any movie you want, I recommend sticking to one that’s already about
relationships—it might make the assignment a little easier. I’m okay with you
watching the same movie with some of your classmates, though of course your
essays must be different.

Some suggested movies that might be good for this
assignment:

The Last Samurai, Friends with Benefits, The Breakfast
Club, Love Actually, The Break-Up, He’s Just Not That Into You, The Proposal,
Pride and Prejudice, American Beauty, Pretty in Pink, Swingers, Friday Night
Lights, Full Metal Jacket, Pulp Fiction…

Your job is to watch the movie and find concepts and
theories discussed in class and in the textbook. You will then highlight these
concepts in your paper, and provide strong, detailed descriptions of examples
from the movie. An “A” paper will use the introduction to provide a description
of the plot of the movie, and then will use several concepts from the course
and demonstrate a strong understanding of the concept using examples from the
movie. Also, an “A” paper will have minimal grammar, spelling, and punctuation
mistakes. Please proofread your paper for content and format mistakes.

For example, “The Breakfast Club” is a movie about
teenagers who get stuck in detention on a Saturday morning together. They are
all from different groups (i.e., jock, popular girl, weird “emo” girl,
trouble-maker, etc.) and the movie is about the development of a friendship
between these people who had never spoken before. Therefore, in my essay I will
discuss the theories about self-disclosure, and then I would provide examples
from the different points of self-disclosure from the movie, as all of the
teens open up to each other over the course of the movie. I will also talk
about creation of self, because the positions these teens hold within their
school affects their perceptions of themselves. Further, my essay would address
perception of others. Being that each teen comes from a different crowd, they
have perceptions of each other that they learn about through the movie.

Again, you are free to choose any movie, and free to
discuss any concepts from the course you can find in the movie.

The purpose of this assignment is to get you to search
for examples of things we’ve learned in class, and demonstrate to me that you
have a strong understanding of them by giving me detailed examples.

case memo privacy email policy at work

Case

You
can certainly sympathize with employees when they complain about having
their email and instant messages monitored, but you’re implementing a
company policy that all employees agree to abide by when they join the
company. Your firm, Webcor Builders of San Francisco, California, is one
of the estimated 60 percent of U.S.companies with such monitoring
systems in place. More and more companies use these systems (which
typically operate by scanning messages for keywords that suggest
confidential, illegal, or otherwise inappropriate content) in an attempt
to avoid instances of sexual harassment and other problems. As the
chief information officer, the manager in charge of computer systems in
the company, you’re often the target when employees complain about being
monitored. Consequently, you know you’re really going to hear it when
employees learn that the monitoring program will be expanded to personal
blogs as well.

Your Task

Write a memo to
be distributed to the entire workforce, explaining that the automated
monitoring program is about to be expanded to include employee’s
personal blogs. Explain that, while you sympathize with employee
concerns regarding privacy and freedom of speech, it is the management
team’s responsibility to protect the company’s intellectual property and
the value of the company name. Therefore, employees’ personal blogs
will be added to the monitoring system to ensure that employees don’t
intentionally or accidentally expose company secrets or criticize
management in a way that could harm the company

Format and Length:
Memo format; Use Talking headings; single-spacing; 1” side margins;
