Performance Management Proposal

You now have been tasked with Performance Management, another role
and responsibility as a Human Resource Manager. It’s important to have a
performance management plan set before the position is hired for. This
is for a few reasons:

  • Reduces the chance of bias in a performance evaluation.
  • Reduces the chance of the performance evaluation not aligning to the position.
  • Sets expectations and standards that the new hire is aware of upfront.
  • Enables all persons of a position to be evaluated on the same criterion.

Since
you are new as a Human Resource Manager, and the Claims Supervisor is a
new position, you need to have a plan for a performance management
system of the position. You are aware, from the job description, that it
will require performance measurements that are both qualitative
(text-based) and quantitative (numbers-based).

As the Human
Resource Manager for Premium Auto Insurance, it is your role and
responsibility to ensure you have a management performance system
without bias, that is legal and ethical, and that the performance system
aligns to the position.

Conduct academic research using the library’s databases, like Business Source Complete via EBSCO and Business via ProQuest,
as well as reliable webpages and create a minimum 4 page proposal to
the CEO in which you complete the following for approval of a
performance management system for the new position, Claims Supervisor:

  1. Description of the categories to be measured.
  2. Description of ratings to be used.
  3. Example of performance evaluation form.
  4. Explanation for each of your recommendations.
  5. Remember
that this is a proposal. Make sure to format your paper properly for
your proposal. A proposal is a persuasive document, so make sure to use
proper language and tone. Remember, you are the HR Manager and you are
writing to the CEO so use a tone in your proposal that is specific to
    your audience (the CEO).
  6. Include an APA formatted reference page with at least 2 credible sources. Make sure to include APA in-text citations for any information used from outside sources.

A note about credible sources:
Credible sources are reliable, accurate, and trustworthy. These sources
are written by authors respected in their fields of study. You want to
identify sources where the author of the article is listed; if they’ve
referenced other sources, you should investigate those primary sources
to ensure they accurately support the way in which they were used. Wikipedia is not considered a credible source.

Rasmussen’s
Library and Learning Services team has developed a variety of Guides to
help support students’ academic endeavors. For this assignment, the Writing Guide and APA Guide may both be helpful. You will find links to these Guides on the Resources tab.

Stakeholder Salience

Stakeholders view organizational effectiveness through the lenses of their personal points of interest in the corporation. Finding those who share similar points of interest leads to coalition building as a means of increasing salience. Globalization magnifies the salience of these stakeholder coalitions toward both positive and negative ends. In this assignment, assume the perspective of a researcher studying the effects of globalization on stakeholder coalition building and salience.

General Requirements:

Use the following information to ensure successful completion of the assignment:

  • Instructors will be using a grading rubric to grade the assignments. It is recommended that learners review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment in order to become familiar with the assignment criteria and expectations for successful completion of the assignment.
  • Doctoral learners are required to use APA style for their writing assignments. The APA Style Guide is located in the Student Success Center.
  • This assignment requires that at least two additional scholarly research sources related to this topic, and at least one in-text citation from each source be included.
  • You are required to submit this assignment to Turnitin. Refer to the directions in the Student Success Center. Only Word documents can be submitted to Turnitin.

Directions:

In a paper of 1,000–1,250 words, assume the perspective of a researcher studying the effects of globalization on stakeholder coalition building and salience and discuss the scholarly literature that will guide your research. The literature you select should address the following research questions:

  1. Why do stakeholders build coalitions as a means of increasing salience?
  2. How has globalization affected stakeholder coalition building?
  3. How has globalization of coalitions affected stakeholder salience?
  4. How do corporations harness or mitigate stakeholder salience to achieve established corporate goals?

SFSU Strike (1968)

Brief Description of Author’s Point of View

Write a paper that examines how the San Francisco State Strike was part of the larger struggle of the Civil Rights Movement in the U.S. and how the San Francisco State Strike of 1968 made a significant and meaningful difference back in the late 1960s to early 1970s.In your paper you are to illustrate the myriad and relevant connections between the SFSU Strike and it’s relationship with the larger Civil Rights movement. (Hint: think about political, economic, social and cultural factors)

In your conclusion (last paragraph) In your own words, write a personal opinion on the following question:

  • Do you think social movements like the San Francisco State Strike 1968 would be effective in making social / cultural change (make a difference) in the present day? Why/Why Not?

Essay on Judith Jarvis Thomson: A Defense of Abortion

Here are some recommendations for how to plan your paper:

Format requirements: Minimum 900 words, maximum 1000 words. Nor the TAs or I care what font you are using, what color, or what spacing. You can upload it as a word document, or pdf. Concerning the format of the paper, that is all the terms that I can think of. We are more interested in your thoughts than in the form you choose for their deliverance.

Due date: November 9.

But you can turn it in early.

How you should plan your paper:

In the first paragraph describe what you want to write about. Explain what you will argue for or against

It can be:

– an idea that you heard in class

– a morally relevant topic that you heard about outside of class that you can integrate in what we discussed in class

– an argument that you heard in class and you do not agree with

– an argument that you heard in class that you agree with and you think that you can make the point that the common attitude of society gets that aspect wrong

– something that we discussed in class and you think that there are relevant aspects that have been left out and you want to emphasize those aspects

Second step: explain why you think that the topic you chose is relevant for moral consideration, why is it relevant for society

Third step: explain your position towards the topic you chose;

Argue for your position and explain as best as you can why do you think you are right.

What we are looking for when we grade:

First of all, we want to make sure that you understand the topic that you are writing about: why is it relevant to moral philosophy, what are its most important moral implications.

Then we look at your argument to see whether it holds. Whether the premises that your argument implies result in the conclusion that you say they do.

Third, we look for clarity and organization.

Look up reliable sources for your paper. Ask your TA or me for help. Peer reviewed articles, books, Stanford Encyclopedia for Philosophy are highly recommended. If you copy one sentence from somewhere without quoting it you can be accused of plagiarism, which will not only result in you getting a 0 for that paper, but also have it on your record that you have plagiarized.

Practical tips: write a short draft for your paper. Write half a page about what you want to write about. Go to sleep and let it sit for one day.

Next day go back to your draft and write the paper.

Third day, explain your paper to a friend or family member, to your TA or to me. Do they understand what you are trying to argue? After this conversation you will figure out whether there is something that you need to clarify.

Disparagement of the Trademark Law, business and finance homework help

Simon Tam is the founder and leader of a band called “The Slants.” The band is made up of Asian-Americans, and, in Tam’s words, “I named the band The Slants because it represented our perspective—or slant—on life as people of colour. It was a deliberate act of claiming an identity as well as a nod to Asian-American activists who had been using the term for decades.”

Tam tried to register the name with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. However, the application was refused, under a provision of trademark law that prohibits registration of anything thing that “[c]onsists of … matter which may disparage … persons, living or dead, institutions, beliefs, or national symbols, or bring them into contempt or disrepute.”

Tam sued, claiming that this law violated his rights under the First Amendment to the Constitution, which says, in part, “Congress shall make no law … abridging the freedom of speech…”

A federal court of appeals agreed with him and ruled in his favor, stating: “We hold that the disparagement provision of [trademark law] is unconstitutional because it violates the First Amendment. We vacate the Board’s holding that Mr. Tam’s mark is unregistrable, and remand this case to the Board for further proceedings.”

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office appealed this decision to the United States Supreme Court. Your answer is to give me your opinion as to which side the U.S. Supreme Court should rule in favor of, and provide reasoning to support your position.

You may start with the following questions:

  1. What are ways you promote collaboration among those you lead?
  2. How do you involve parents in promoting collaborative learning?
  3. What is the role of the site-based decision-making committee on your campus?
  4. How important is communication in the collaborative process?
  5. What are some challenges you have faced with a collaborative style? Have you moved away from collaboration in some situations?
  6. What advice would you give to new instructional leaders regarding the importance of effective communication and collaboration?

Final Paper Instructions:

  1. The final case study should include four sections (Symptoms, Diagnosis, Cure, and Prevention). Each section should be about 1 page in length. Your entire paper must be 4-5 pages in length, not counting the title or reference pages, which must be included. Your paper must follow theCSU-Global Guide to Writing and APA Requirements.
  2. You must cite and integrate at least 2 credible sources in each of the four sections of the paper. You may use readings other than the textbook to meet this requirement. The paper should be based on references to scholarly materials (rather than on introductory textbooks, popular website writings, or musings, for example) and should support your claims with evidence.
  3. Incorporate into this final plan any classmates’ critiques that you found useful as well as your instructor’s feedback.
  4. List the key community members or partners that you plan on contacting, with an explanation why these individuals or organizations make sense as potential partners. This could include your list of potential partners created in week 4 Critical Thinking Assignment Option #1, or your interview of one key partner completed in week 4 Critical Thinking Option #2.
  5. Include a special emphasis on either the demographics of the affected population or the economic implications, depending on what Critical Thinking assignment you completed for Week 5.

Final Instructions for the Handout:

  1. The handout that you will distribute to audience members describes the problem in your community and your action plan.
  2. You may design this as an outline of your presentation or as a brochure to accompany your presentation with highlighted key points.
  3. The purpose of this handout is both to educate the audience about the issue and to help them follow along with you as you speak. Keep in mind that in real life you will have limited time to convince people of the gravity of the situation and to come on board with their support, so you want to be persuasive and get to the key points quickly and effectively.
  4. Your handout must be supported by at least two scholarly articles.
  5. You may use the readings other than the textbook for this course. Format your handout according to the CSU-Global Guide to Writing and APA Requirements.

Note: Be sure to submit both your written report and your handout for this assignment. Both files should be uploaded in a single submission to the assignment submission page.

The paper and preliminary deliverables must be well written and formatted in conformity with the CSU-Global Guide to Writing and APA Requirements.

How life originated on Planet Earth

One of the greatest mysteries of all times is how life originated on Planet Earth. Even the most basic and primitive cells are incredibly sophisticated and complex mini-universes that defy explanation as to how they formed. Did life come from space, or did it appear spontaneously here on Earth? Is the origin of life unique to Earth, or has it happened many times before in other planets and moons of the Solar System and the universe? Did life started with RNA or DNA, or none of them? Did meteors carried life to Earth? Was Earth different than it is today when life started on this planet? Did life appear when there was no water on Earth? Life is truly a miracle. Investigate about this topic and write an essay about it. The essay must be written entirely in your OWN words. The essay must be at least three paragraphs long, and each paragraph must contain at least five sentences (you can write more than three paragraphs and more than five sentences per paragraph if you wish to do so). If needed, you can quote, but this does not count towards the last tally of number of paragraphs and sentences being required from your OWN writing. Use citations in parenthesis, APA style, if you paraphrase information from other authors (note: paraphrasing is not copying and changing a few words from other authors’ writings, it is writing it in your OWN words to explain other authors’ writings). Also, in your assignment use at least three references to investigate about this topic; use APA style and list your three references at the end of your essay
