In this assignment, the criteria in your Connecting Your Learning Scoring Guide are directly aligned to competencies 1–5 for the course.

• Competency 1: Differentiate research methods used by criminal justice agencies.

Assignment Description

Throughout the class, you have examined research methods, from probability sampling to survey research. You have assessed the challenges associated with research design, ethical research practices, data collection methods, and analyzing content and reporting research results. You have also evaluated the validity of research measures and reputability of resources available for criminal justice research.

Prepare a 5–7 page paper (1–1.5 pages per competency for competencies 1–5), focused on the course competencies and address two key areas of learning for each competency. This paper should showcase your learning proficiency and describe the importance of your learning relative to application in a career context.

Requirements

• Written communication: Must be free of errors that detract from the overall message.
• Resources and citations: Format according to APA guidelines.
• Required page count: 5–7, not including the title page or the references page.
• Required number of references: One reference per competency for competencies 1–5.
• Font and font size: Times New Roman, 12 point.

You are required to submit your paper to Turnitin. Once you review your results and make any needed changes, submit your paper for grading.

This assignment should be placed in your ePortfolio for future reference and to demonstrate your learning connections for future employment purposes.

Once you have completed your interviews, you will summarize the information you obtained in an Interview Summary Report. The report is a 1 -2 page Word document in which you summarize your interview and share your reactions to the interview experience.

Remember: You will need separate reports for each interview. Therefore, you should submit a total of two reports.

Your report should cover the following points:

1. Details about the crime reporter (or representative) you interviewed. (Name, background, address and phone number at the organization; email address if available, etc.)
2. What news organization the crime reporter represents.
3. How or why you chose this crime reporter or agency.
4. How the crime reporter works with the criminal justice system, Adjust details according to what assignment option you chose.
5. Summary of information you gained in your interview/communication. (Include 3 or 4 direct quotes.)
6. Your personal reactions and thoughts about the whole interview experience. What was the most interesting thing you learned? Did you learn anything that disturbed you or that you did not understand?
7. Add a concluding thought. After completing the assignment did any of your opinions or beliefs change in regards to how crime stories are reported to us?

The threads will cover supplemental material incorporated into each chapter, via videos related to the supporting discussion integrated into your textbook chapters. Postings should not merely summarize the material, but should deal with how to apply the material in practice.

200-300 words, excluding references. The answer may include information from the text, handouts, personal experiences and opinion to demonstrate critical thinking and application. At least one source must be cited and referenced.

Using a business publication (Forbes, Wall Street Journal, Businessweek, Fortune, FastCompany) article, find a company that has expanded by diversification. Describe the type of diversification and how the diversification created value. Evaluate how successful you think the diversification will be in future (5 or 10 yrs, for instance). What issues or challenges is the diversification likely to cause?

Using an example of a specific organization, what might that organization do (or have they done) if they need to change or find a “turnaround” strategy to maintain their competitive advantage (consider product or industry diversification, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures/strategic alliances, and/or a strong differentiation strategy). Use the Ormanidhi & Stringa (2008) article as one of your sources (ATTACHED).

Your fellow project managers provided you with their thoughts on your tool selection during your weekly working lunch meeting. You have considered them and have developed your schedule, budget, and methods for monitoring and controlling those areas. You must now complete the Project Executing and Project Monitoring and Controlling sections of the Project Management Plan.

Update your existing Project Charter/Project Management Plan template to reflect the following:

• Performing quality assurance: Discuss the tools and techniques, such as quality audits, quality management tools, and process analyses, you will use to perform quality assurance for your project.
• Managing the project team: Determine how you will manage the project team, including handling conflict and providing motivation.
• Conducting procurements: Discuss any of the items you need to purchase for your project and the types of vendors, contractors, and suppliers you will encounter.
• Controlling costs: Determine the methods, such as earned value management, forecasting, to-complete performance indices, project management software, and reserve analyses, you will use to ensure costs are controlled within the project.
• Controlling risks: Discuss the methods you will use to control the risks in the project. These methods can include risk reassessment, risk audits, variance analysis, reserve analysis, meetings, and technical performance measurement.
• Managing stakeholder engagement: Using the list of stakeholders defined in Unit 1, discuss how you will manage the engagement level of the stakeholders.
