week’s DiscussionConsequential, Nonconsequential, and Virtue Theory

In
this week’s Discussion, you will explore the major groups of ethical
theories we call consequentialist (teleological), nonconsequentialist
(deontological), and virtue theories. There are multiple theories in
each category that you will be able to address in this week’s
Discussion. These theories will serve as the foundation for all future
Discussions and Assignments for the course. Having an opportunity to
discuss these with your instructor and peers will help you understand
how to use them to address ethical issues and questions.

Consequential, Nonconsequential, and Virtue Theory

To
what extent do you believe that members of your family or your friends
use consequential, nonconsequential, and virtue theory? Pick one example
from each approach and describe how these approaches work or don’t work
for them. Compare the strengths and weaknesses of your three chosen
theories.

Applying Epidemiology

Epidemiology is the study of epidemics. More specifically, it is the study of the occurrence and distribution of health problems. Using any of the epidemiological techniques outlined in the chapters from this week’s reading, address the questions for one of the case studies outlined below.

There are two parts to this assignment:

Part I: Provide a brief statement of the investigative issue. Describe the epidemiological steps you would take by addressing the questions asked within the case study you select.

Part II: Address the questions noted at the end of your selected case study. Your paper should be at least four pages in length, but can exceed this depending on how much detail you provide on the epidemiological steps you take for your case. You should use at least one additional scholarly source in addition to the textbook. Format your paper and all citations according to APA style guidelines as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center

IT Questions chapter 14

Are you prepared to deal effectively with ethical challenges that social, search, mobile, and mining technologies create in business? Anecdotal research suggests that individuals – both professionally and personally – often do not even recognize when ethical issues are present. If people cannot recognize them, it is hard to imagine how they could deal responsibly with ethic challenges.

IT ethics is discussed in this chapter, which also presents the challenges of identifying responsible conduct related to IT and acting accordingly. Most major retailers rely on predictive analytics to understand consumers’ shopping habits and also their personal habits to more effectively market to them. Using information and processing power to gain a competitive edge in ways that managers try desperately to keep secret from customers or regulators is a solid indicator of ethical misconduct.

Key issues you read in this chapter are social discrimination; the impact of present practices on the ecosystem, society, and environment of the future; Mobile technology helps reduce travel-related energy consumption and yet contributes to environmental deterioration. There are no easy fixes, clear-cut judgments, answers, or solutions. The goal is to recognize the crucial ethical and ecological issues to better manage IT and tip the balance toward better conduct and sustainability.

How to create a new strategic plan for a fast-food chain?

This is a 2 part assignment. The first part is a 200 – 400 word detailed outline for the assignment below. The outline is due by 9/9/17 AM and the paper is due by 9/13/17.

For this assignment, select a real company in the fast food industry.

You have just been hired by (your selected company) as its new vice president of strategic planning. The corporation’s performance in recent years as well as the changes with business and economic conditions will be a central focus of your new job.

Given the size of the corporation and the fact that it is in a highly competitive industry, the chief executive officer (CEO) to whom you report has already given you permission to hire a staff of recent Master of Business Administration (MBA) graduates to assist you in your efforts. You recently completed the interviewing and hired four people with minimal real business experience.

In coming months, you and your team will be creating a completely new—and, presumably, more effective—strategic plan. You plan to begin by holding a kick-off meeting with your team.

Deliverable Length: 1,000–1,250 words

To feel confident that all of the employees in your strategic planning team understand all that you have taught them, you require each to prepare a streamlined version of the key elements of a strategic plan. You require each employee to prepare the following sections of a strategic plan for the corporation’s next 3-5 years:

  • Mission and Vision Statements (Simply copying from an existing real company is unacceptable.)
  • Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Time-Bound (SMART) Goals and Objectives
  • Industry Analysis
  • Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats, and Trends (SWOTT) Analysis
  • A Perceptual Map
    • Choose any criteria that you think are important to plot.
    • Explain why you picked the criteria.

Your task is to create a plan, following the same parameters, which will be the sample standard that your employees’ submissions should match.

An Annotated Bibliography organizes your research by way of APA citations and a short paragraph about each source. For this Assignment, you will create an Annotated Bibliography for four sources related to an argument for change. One of the sources should address an opposing viewpoint or misconception related to your topic. Your instructor will provide insightful feedback on the sources you find so you can determine whether to use them in the Unit 8 Assignment, a persuasive research essay.

The following aspects are required for your Annotated Bibliography Assignment:

  • Title page in APA manuscript format.
  • Your revised thesis statement for an argument for change in your community or workplace.
  • Four primary and secondary sources; one source should be a periodical or ebook, preferably from the Library.
  • Sources that would be appropriate are as follows:
  • Book, ebook, article, or a chapter from book or ebook
  • Periodical (e.g., newspaper, magazine, journal article)
  • Internet source (e.g., blog, organization website, article from Internet site)
  • Video or audio source (e.g., documentary, video blog, TED Talks , podcast)
  • A primary source in which the authors of the content are the primary researchers (the ones who conducted research), e.g., a government report, case study, or speech
  • At least one source should address an opposing viewpoint or misconception.
  • APA citation for each source (this is the information you would normally include on a references page).
  • Annotation for each source, which must include each of the following in a full paragraph:
  • Brief summary of the source (no direct quotes from the source) and a parenthetical citation after the summary, e.g., (Smith, 2014)
  • Evaluation of the source’s credibility, including the author’s credentials and the verifiability of the source’s information; this should include where you found the source Library, Google search engine, government website, etc.)
  • Discussion about the source’s usefulness to your argument for change in your community or workplace
  • All writing must be in Standard American English.
  • Use APA manuscript format throughout the Assignment.

To help you complete this Assignment successfully, please review the resources noted below, including relevant articles from the Writing Center that discuss how to write an annotated bibliography, find/evaluate research, and use APA citations. The previously noted Learning Activities related to evaluating sources will also help in your writing of this Assignment.
