Stroop and Native Language

Use an independent t-test to analyze data from a fictitious study. This study compares the ability of native English speakers and native Spanish speakers to state the font color of words that are color names. Although some of the participants are nonnative English speakers, all participants are considered fluent in English at the time of the study. The tricky aspect of this task is that the words will be printed in colors that are incongruent to the color names. The independent variable is the native language, and the dependent variable is the time it takes to state the color of font for all the words. It is hypothesized the native English speakers will take longer to state the colors compared with the nonnative speakers.

The data from the hypothetical study is given below. The explanations for the variable names used in the table are participant number (ParticN), time for native English speaker to read color words (NECW), age of participants in years (Age), and time for Spanish speaker to read color words (SSCW).

You need to take the data from the twenty fictitious participants provided and enter the data into Minitab. Click here to download Minitab software. Obtain the descriptive statistics. Next, analyze the data with an independent t-test. Was the hypothesis supported? Write a results section in a 1-page Microsoft Word document and then a summary statement about the conclusions of the study.

Submit a copy of the Minitab data sheet, the output file from the Minitab data analysis, the typed results, and conclusion of the study. Make sure that the written work is in the APA format.

For your assessment, you will read the opinions of movie critics and record your observations on the content, style, and tone of their critiques.

(Please note that you do not need to watch a film for this assignment; you only need to collect two reviews on a film.)

   If you have an alternate film on which you would like to collect reviews, please consult your instructor for approval.

2. Locate two film critiques on the film you have chosen. Consider beginning your search by reading renowned film critic Roger Ebert’s Review, at suntimes.com, on your selected film.
3. Complete the Critique Observation Organizer. You may copy and paste this information into a document, print and fill in by hand, or make your own organizer with the same criteria.

1. Explain case mix and why it is important in evaluating different health care providers.
2. Refer to the table of heart attack mortality rates for Hospitals A, B, and C. From your reading this week, what variables might be impacting the rates in the table? Please explain and discuss the use of data analysis for evaluating this kind of information.

Part II

You are a staff member at Hospital B, which has the worst mortality rate from heart attacks as seen in the table. Imagine that the administrator for Hospital B has asked you to appear at a Press Conference to share your knowledge about case mix.
