You have considerable freedom in choosing a topic, with the exception of the topic must Transportation Management The requirement is that you choose a topic that requires academic research not business research and that you submit both your paper topic (which should not contain question) and a full paragraph statement, that statement must contain a research question to be answered or a hypothesis to be tested. Most “why” questions focus more on workplace related issues and business not academic or scholarly research so they seldom are acceptable questions for scholarly research. Journaling provides a valuable tool for recording, reflecting on, and reviewing your learning. This approach provides an opportunity for you to “connect the dots” and observe the relationships between and among activities, interactions, and outcomes.

Unlike a personal journal of thoughts and feelings, this Leadership Journal is a record of your activities, assessments, and learning related to this academic experience.

Journal entries should include a record of the number of hours spent with your nurse leader each week.

1. Provide observations and thoughts on the activities in Weeks 11-12.
2. Identify three to five personal values or characteristics that you believe are critical components of a good leader, such as honesty, compassion, or fairness. How do you express those values in your professional life?

Technology is constantly changing and, in turn, can help leaders promote widespread social and economic change. For example, Mattox (2013) pointed out that if 3D-printing technology were to become available and accepted by the masses, it could dramatically shift control of consumer production, resulting in a significant economic and social change. Consumers could then theoretically manufacture everything from lifesaving medicines to high-grade weaponry. Is such technological change desirable or detrimental?

Given the potential of technological change to generate economic upheaval, it should be no surprise that the question of whether technological change is desirable has garnered attention in the business research community. Theories have emerged to explain the development and diffusion of technological changes—and the theory of disruptive innovation is among the most influential. Since its introduction by Clayton Christensen in the mid-1990s, the theory has raised considerable debate. Topics of debate include how to define disruptive innovation and technology; when and why it occurs; and how to predict, survive, or promote it. As the pace of technological change accelerates, business professionals have given increased attention to this field of research and the impact of disruptive technology. In this Discussion, you will consider the case of Netflix.

To prepare for this Discussion, review this week’s Learning Resources concerning disruptive technology and disruptive innovation. Read the case study “The Rise and Fall of Netflix: What Happened and Where Will It Go From Here?” and consider Netflix’s role as a disruptive innovation or technology that is now being threatened by the disruptive technology of its competitors. Netflix’s leaders are facing many challenges as they consider the global market. Put yourself in the intern Chris’s position, and think about how you, as a global change agent, would advise the company’s leaders.

By Day 3

Post an analysis of the impact of disruptive technology on Netflix, with your own prognosis for this business. Your analysis should be structured as follows:

• Summarize the challenges Netflix is facing, as detailed in the case study.
• Evaluate whether disruptive technology has a primarily positive or negative impact on Netflix’s challenges. Provide a rationale.
• In line with your argument, identify whom disruptive technology benefits and whom it adversely affects.
• Develop two strategies for either surviving or taking advantage of disruptive technology.
• Support your post with data and information from the Learning Resources and at least one peer-reviewed article or journal of your choice.

Design and format a 10 – 15 slide Microsoft PowerPoint presentation on one of the learning objectives found in the Getting Started – This Week’s Activities folder for this week.  The requirements below must be met for your presentation to be accepted and graded:

• Design and format each slide for a presentation, see example below.
• The notes sections must total a minimum of 250 words for the entire presentation.  Use these sections to explain and support information provided on your slides.
• Include a cover slide and reference slide (these slides do not count toward the 10 – 15 slide requirement).
• At least 60% of your paper must be original content/writing.
• No more than 40% of your content/information may come from references.
• Use at least two references from outside the course material, preferably from EBSCOhost.  Text book, lectures, and other materials in the course may be used, but are not counted toward the two reference requirement.

Choose an article from EBSCOhost that relates to at least one of the learning objectives found in the Getting Started – This Week’s Activities folder for this week.  You must summarize the article, and explain the connection between the article and at least one learning objective.  Clearly state the learning objective(s) in the introduction.  

The requirements below must be met for your News Flash to be accepted and graded:  

• Write between 500 – 750 words (approximately 2 – 3 pages) using Microsoft Word.
• Attempt APA style, see example below.
• Use font size 12 and 1” margins.
• Include a cover page and reference page.
• At least 60% of your paper must be original content/writing.
• No more than 40% of your content/information may come from references.
• Include at least one external reference other than the article being summarized, preferably from EBSCOhost.  Text book, lectures, and other materials in the course may be used, but are not considered an external reference.
