Part A: Discussion: Tech Support Experience. Part B: Reply to two of your peers’ posts and provide feedback.

Part A::: Think of a time when you had to call technical support for a device or appliance. Share this experience with your peers and consider the following:

  • How was the overall experience?
  • Were you satisfied with the final outcome?
  • Was there anything that you think should have been done differently?

Part B::: Reply to two of the posts below(separately) and provide feedback. Compare or contrast your experience with theirs. Offer a solution to an issue they may have experienced.

Post 1: I think my example of a time I had to call technical support is something most of us have gone through, calling the ISP because the internet was out and wouldn’t come back on. They walked me through the regular troubleshooting tasks such as restarting router and modem and fully unplugging them. They then tried to reset it on their end. Overall my experience was not good because I had already done the troubleshooting stuff, so this part of the call was pointless, and they were not able to get it fixed. They had to send someone out 2 days later. In today’s day, having no internet is a huge problem, considering I am an avid gamer and a full time online student. This contributed to my bad experience in a large way. If something could have been done differently I would have had them send someone out right away because this problem caused me to get very behind on my homework.

Post 2: I can’t think of too many time where I have hd to call Tech Support, only one situation really comes to mind. With the purchase of my first smartphone, an early generation iPhone, I was following the directions on the website to replace my old phone on my plan with the new iPhone. I got mostly through the setup then when it was time to place the test call, nothing happened. I tried a few more times, the test call remained unsuccessful. Figuring something was done improperly, I phoned Tech Support. The technician informed me that since it was a smartphone they would need finalize the setup. The technician was pleasant and helpful, and the over all experience was a positive one. They listened to my issue, and knew the proper procedure to fix it. They resolved my issue, by activating my phone and staying on the line until I was able to confirm that I was able to place a call successfully, which I greatly appreciated. The one thing I would change about this experience would be stating in the setup documentation, that smart phones would need to be activated by the provider and self-activation was not available for these devices yet. Otherwise, I was very satisfied with the technicians professionalism and timely resolution.

Please determine the amount that will be included in the Taxpayers Gross Income in the following situations. Cite the appropriate authority (authorities) for your answer.

2(a): Roger went to the hospital to complain of shooting and radiating pains in his back and legs, as well as weakness. When he got there, the Emergency Department sent him home because they were too busy to help, and he already had an appointment set in two weeks. Roger went home, and when he woke up he could not move his legs anymore, and the damage was irreparable. He sued the hospital, and received a lump sum settlement of 2 million dollars. 1.5 million was allocated to his pain, suffering, and injury, and the other $500,000 was allocated to punitive damages.

(i) How much of this settlement is includible in the year he settles?

(ii) What if this had been awarded at trial, not in a settlement agreement?

(iii) What if this is a settlement for periodic payments to pay $100,000 per year for 20 years?

(iv) What if the entire amount is to compensate him for his pain, suffering, and injury?

(v) Are there policy reasons to exclude this sort of income from GI?

2(b): Stan works for an unnamed non-government agency as a spy. He earns 80K per year, along with cash and other bonuses. How much GI does he have if each of the following occur:

(i) Stan closed more than his required cases in 2012. He receives a cash bonus of 18K for his services.

(ii) Same as above, but instead of a cash bonus, Stan received a new Toyota Forerunner, MSRP 30K.

(iii) Stan’s HQ has a full athletic gym on the premises with swimming pool and sauna, and Stan spends an hour every workday there. Memberships at comparable gyms nearby cost $400 per year.

(iv) Due to the sensitive nature of material kept at HQ, Stan’s wife Francine uses the sister gym in town. Stan’s employer comps her membership dues ($400 annually), as the employer owns that gym and its employees are on employer’s payroll as well. That gym is open to the public.

(v) Stan always eats at the HQ cafeteria-he thinks the food is spot on. His daily lunches are comped for him, but would cost $15 per day offsite. Assume 3 meals per week, 48 weeks per year. Other lower ranking agents have to pay for their own meals, so the cafeteria breaks even each year.

(vi) The unnamed agency pays for a country club membership for Stan so that he can infiltrate the social structure of potential targets. He admits that five times out of ten, he brings his family to the club to “keep up appearances,” and the remainder of the time he is actively working his contacts. Membership costs are $10,000. The agency is not going to deduct the membership costs.

(vii) Stan has free access to the break room, which is stocked with juices, fruit, sodas, beer, and snacks. Stan loves the snacks, and eats $50 worth every week.

(viii) Stan has free access to the agency’s Basketball season tickets on the floor. He uses a pair of these tickets ($500) at six games per year.

2(c): Jane purchased a home in December of 2011. In January, her eleven-year-old son Mikey was playing with his friends, Mouth, Chunk, and Steph. The children followed a treasure map they had found in the attic, leading them to a chest buried under the oak tree the woods behind the backyard containing emeralds and rubies with FMV $50,000, and they got Jane to open the chest to reveal the find. Jane immediately said she did not want them, and handed the gems over to her sister Jill. State law provides that “finders (who report their find and if nobody else claims it within 90 days) are keepers.” Jill reported to the police that she had found the gems, and when no person came forward to claim them after 90 days, the police released the gems to her.

(i) What part of the $50,000 is includible in Jane’s GI and/or in Jill’s GI, and in what year?

Respond to Michael:

In my opinion the United States can balance the need to protect the population, and protect civil liberties, civil rights. That being said the government can but it’s obvious through the recent collusion and obstruction investigation conduct by Robert Mueller that it is not doing any of that. Prior to 1970’s the Intelligence Community (IC) had very little oversight and were in essence free to conduct operations dictated by the executive or ones guided by internal wishes. That all changed with the Church & Pike commission, it found that the IC had conducted several intelligence actions against its own population and wanted to curtail or control that (Hayden, 2003, p. 252). With that the Congress created the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) in 1978 as well as the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISC). Both house of congress implemented oversight committees to make sure that congress is informed of the Federal IC, as well as going to the headquarters and field sites (Hayden, 2003, p. 252). The executive also created the Office of Intelligence Policy and Review (OIP&R) which was superseded by National Security Division’s (NSD) Office of Intelligence which conducted oversight of the IC. The Operations Section handles NSD’s intelligence operations workload, including representing the government before the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISC). The Operations Section is responsible for preparing and filing all applications for Court orders pursuant to FISA (“Office of Intelligence,” 2014).

The groundwork has been laid out for proper oversight and laws have been put in place to prevent the levers of power in this case the IC to respect the liberties and rights of the United States population. Until recently I thought that was really the case, but it is clear that all the oversight, rules, and regulations has not stopped IC and persons of the Department of Justice (DOJ/FBI), or the Executive Branch namely the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) from breaking any rules they feel needed to break and destroying U.S. citizens lives in the process. The DNI then James Clapper outright lied to a senate oversight committee when they questioned him about the issue of surveillance of U.S. citizens. According to Johnathon Turley “He was asked directly, “Does the NSA collect any type of data at all on millions, or hundreds of millions of Americans?” There was no ambiguity or confusion and Clapper responded, “No, sir. … Not wittingly.” That was a lie and Clapper knew it when he said it “(Turley, 2018). Was there any punishment no Clapper is a made guy in Washington, so some feigned outrage and soon it was forgotten and he was hired on as Intelligence commentator at CNN. CIA Director John O. Brennan also lied to congress about hacking committee computers to thwart the committees look into integration methods. Brennan said “As far as the allegations of, you know, CIA hacking into, you know, Senate computers, nothing could be further from the truth. I mean, we wouldn’t do that. I mean, that’s — that’s just beyond the — you know, the scope of reason in terms of what we would do. {…} and, you know, when the facts come out on this, I think a lot of people who are claiming that there has been this tremendous sort of spying and monitoring and hacking will be proved wrong”. Well when the facts came out it turned out he lied and tried to cover for the obvious illegal activities (Downie, 2014). Where am I going with this, I provided two incidents of people in positions of power in the IC and showed all the oversight, hearings, visits will not help protect our rights, and liberty unless the Committees make an example of one of these leaders to send a message. You can look at the recent FISA/FISC action in the investigation of Trump where it seems someone in the DOJ had submitted FISA requests based on phony dossiers, and maybe even the head of the executive may have authorized investigation on a political enemy. If you think it can’t happen to you your wrong, if they can do it a political nominee for president and a billionaire with resources they could absolutely crush you if you cross a line that the powers that be have established.

describe critical perspective as liberation by exposing imbalances in society, Communications Assignment Homework help

Claim: If I was an intercultural communication scholar, my favorite perspective would be critical.

Rule/definition: Bradford Hall (2005), describe critical perspective as liberation by exposing imbalances in society through knowledge. If I was a critical communication scholar my goal would be to focus on educating/liberating community members who, “find themselves positioned in historical, economic, and political ways that go beyond any of their specific desires or choices (Hall, 2005, p. 306).” As a critical communication scholar, I would recognize and see injustice and imbalance in the fact that, “Groups of people that have historically had a lot of power in political and economic senses are inherently positioned in oppressive stances, whereas groups that may be said to be more marginal or lower on the social ladder are inherently positioned as oppressed. Also, someone in an oppressive position may not even realize this or intend to be oppressive, and someone who is being oppressed may not actively recognize this oppression (Hall, 2005, p. 306).

The corresponding research method would be Ethnography, which, “encompasses a series of activities that are meant to help a researcher learn what and how things mean, what they do from member’s perspective (Hall, 2005, p.305).” The critical ethnographer wants to measure the power of groups in communities and the perception of group’s power by the communities members. Data may be collected through field work, conducting interviews and observations then using the scientific method to analyze data. First, researchers may observe communities and analyze the power of each. Secondly, conduct interviews to get the perspective of community members on their class and amount of influence they have over the society they live in.

Example: My favorite perspective of the soldier is more relevant because while research is conducted to discover, the discoveries found are best put to use in facilitating change, growth, or enlightenment; which the perspective of the solider emphasizes.

Explanation: The solider wants to help community members “recognize what is being done to them (Hall, 2005, p.301)” which reflects enlightenment. He also wants to “fight the good fight (Hall, 2005, p.301)”, which represents change that may be needed once researchers findings conclude people are in fact being oppressed. Furthermore, enlightenment and change equal growth.

Therefore, I believe the solider best resonates with interpretive research perspective as an intercultural communication scholar.

Dr. and Mrs. A.J. Mason have been referred to your firm and to you in particular, Business proposal project help

Directions

Review the Project criteria below.

Project Description

You are a managing partner of a prestigious investment counseling firm that specializes in individual rather than institutional accounts.  The firm has developed a national reputation for its ability to blend modern portfolio theory and traditional portfolio methods.  You have written a number of articles on portfolio management and you are considered an authority on the subject of establishing investment policies and programs for individual clients tailored to their particular circumstances and needs.

Dr. and Mrs. A.J. Mason have been referred to your firm and to you in particular.  At your first meeting on August 1, 2012, Dr. Mason explained that he is an electrical engineer and long-time professor at a local university.  He is also an inventor and, after 30 years of teaching, the right to one of his patented inventions has just been acquired by a new electronics company, ACS, Inc.

In anticipation of the potential value of his invention, Dr. Mason has followed his accountant’s advice and established a private corporation, wholly owned by the Masons to hold the title to the patented invention.  It was this private corporation that sold the right to Dr. Mason’s invention to ACS, Inc.  ACS, Inc. has agreed to pay $1 million in cash, payable at the closing on September 30, 2012, for the right to Dr. Mason’s invention.  In addition, ACS, Inc. has agreed to pay royalties to Dr. Mason’s private corporation on its sales of systems that utilize the invention.

While all parties are optimistic about prospects for success, they are also mindful of the risks associated with any new firm, especially those exposed to the technological obsolescence of the electronics industry.  The management of ACS, Inc. has indicated to Dr. Mason that he might expect royalties of as much as $100,000 in the first year of production and maximum royalties of as much as $500,000 annually thereafter.

During your counseling meeting Mrs. Mason expressed concern for the proper investment of the $1 million initial payment.  She pointed out that Dr. Mason has invested all of their savings into his inventions.  Thus, they will have only their Social Security retirement benefits and a small pension from the local university to provide for their retirement.  Dr. Mason will be 65 at September 30, 2013.  His salary from the local university is currently $55,000 per year and he does not expect this amount to change between now and his planned retirement on his 65th birthday.  After retirement Dr. Mason expects to continue earning $10,000 – $25,000 annually from consulting and speaking engagements.   The expected Social Security benefits are expected to be $1,800 per month beginning in October, 2013 and the annual pension from the local university is expected to be $15,000 per year beginning at the same time.

Assuming the royalty payments from ACS, Inc. are equal to $100,000 in the first year and an average of $300,000 per year thereafter, the Masons are planning to help with the education of their six grandchildren.  The grandchildren range in age from 8 to 12 years old.  In addition, the Masons wish to establish a scholarship fund in the name of Dr. Mason at the local university that would provide $5,000 per year to one selected electrical engineering student.  This scholarship should be self- sustaining with its own investments.

Both Dr. and Mrs. Mason have strongly indicated during the first appointment that they are conservative investors and want a minimum risk of any losses.

Project Requirements

You are to present a proposal that specifically meets the retirement investment objectives of the Masons listed below. Your proposal should be from 4 – 6 pages double spaced, Times Roman 12 pt. (I prefer Calibri but your choice, just be consistent).  In addition, you should include a cover page and a separate list of any references used in preparing the proposal. The proposal must follow APA rules in structure and presentation.

Dr. & Mrs. Mason’s Retirement Investment Objectives

  1. Provide $65,000 of withdrawals from the investment account each year. This amount will be in addition to the university pension and Social Security received each year.
  2. Minimize income tax (Federal is assumed, but analysis of a preferred state income tax would be extra).
  3. Include at least three types of investments in any portfolio constructions.
  4. Provide for active management of the portfolio with an annual fee of 1% – 1 ½% of value in the investment portfolio.
  5. Provide an annual growth after all withdrawals and fees of 4% – 5%.
  6. Provide funding for the six grandchildren’s education that will total $40,000 each when they reach the age of 18.  Indicate recommended investment type and account registration.
  7. Provide for a continuing scholarship at the local university in the amount of $5,000 per year.

Project Submission

Submit the your findings in a report of four to six pages (not including the title page or the reference section) as a Microsoft Word document, double-spaced. Your report should be your own—original and free from plagiarism. Make sure to follow current established APA.

Project Notes

The important thing to note is that I am looking for quality of analysis, clarity of organization and accuracy of conclusions.  Also, please take care to ensure the style of your report – Grammar, Spelling, use of graphics, etc., is commensurate with an MBA-level report.  Be concise and deductive with your statements, and don’t just utilize a bunch of terms for impact purposes.  The length of your report will not impact your grade unless it is too short to cover the requirements or too long without purpose.

Report about Constructed wetland for industrial wastewater treatment (case studies)

Only chapter 3,4 and 5 ( Thesis Report)

maximum 9-10 thousand words.

i have several study cases and all of them should be used in my thesis report.

i have already done chapter 1 and 2 so you’ll start with chapter 3 (methodology)

in chapter 3 i want you to start with an overview that explains the process you’ll be doing in chapter 3 briefly.

next start with the methodology where you give each title of the study cases ill send and write about the process of treatment ex; design, sizes, capacity, number of people, wetland type, area and everything related to the methodology. don’t explain the results here because that should be in the next chapter which is the result and discussion.

in chapter 4 (result and discussion) here show the results of each study case under its own title, talk about the treatment efficiency, water quality, comparisons and whatever results you find from the study cases and show them with figures, tables etc..

after that add a summary part where you compare between any 2 or 3 different cases (whatever you chose) that are related and discuss about the results

and in chapter 5 the ( conclusion) conclude it in a good way and talk about the best design and whatever is suitable.

i will attach a templet and you have to follow the official form, add an abstract, recommendation and everything mentioned but DONT write chapter 1 and 2 because i have already done that.
