DQ 1/2 student responses

Answer DQ 1 & DQ2 and respond to students responses.

This is from the professor about the prior DQ you have answered for week 1-3, please adjust answering according to the professor.

“You are expected to find your own research articles to support your DQ arguments. Citing articles assigned or articles listed in the assigned readings, whether articles or the textbook, do not count.

Most of your responses are hitting key points. You simply need to go a bit more in specifying how you would implement certain ideas. Otherwise, you just need to support arguments with empirical research you find and cite sources correctly.”

Wk 5 DQ 1

How would you advise an organization desiring to increase job satisfaction and/or positive attitudes from workers toward the organization? Be specific. Use empirical research to support your recommendations._________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Wk 5 DQ 2

At your workplace, what specific recommendations would you offer to improve job satisfaction and organizational commitment? Do not focus solely on your job or department. Take an organization-wide view. While you do not have to disclose your specific employer, please provide enough detail for us to understand the context of your response. Support your answer with empirical research.

DQ1

In order for an organization to increase job satisfaction and positive attitudes from their workers, they must first understand how attitudes operate and what influences them (Pinder, 2008). According to Eagly and Chaiken (1993), attitudes are expressed according to the degree of favor of a specific entity or situation. Also, according to Olson and Zanna (1993), attitudes involve an evaluative component. They typically don’t form until an evaluation is made of something that causes the rise of an attitude. Attitudes could be a link between belief structures and knowledge structures which means that an attitude can trigger a mental occurrence. Attitudes also entail cognitive, emotional/affective, and behavior components (Olson & Zanna, 1993). Pratkanis and Greenwalk (1989) claim that attitudes help with the interpretation and explanation of social events, they can place biases upon the expectation that we may have regarding people or things, they can have an influence on our acceptance or denial of outcomes, they can influence the thought-processes of an individual to make them believe that others have similar attitudes or that their attitude is more widely held, and it can lead to selective recollections about the past and influence predictions about the future.

The attitude of the individual towards the workplace has an impact on their satisfaction of the job. This means that the attitude must be altered for job satisfaction to rise. Building morale in the workplace is a big way that the attitude can be changed from negative to positive. This can be done by redesigning jobs by incorporating variety, detailing the purpose and pride of the job, giving more responsibility instead of more tasks, and giving employees freedom to grow (Bruce, 2003). Providing creative benefits would also help increase job satisfaction and workplace morale. Examples of this could be job rotations, no dress codes, no titles or the choice of titles, accumulation of vacation time, and free coffee and lunch/dinner when time allows (Bruce, 2003). Understanding the needs and concerns of the employees is also important because it lets them know that they are in a caring environment and that the line of communication is open. Lastly, training is much needed because it lets employees know that they are worth the investment, it gives precise information on what is expected and development opportunities, and it allows communication of change and other aspects (Bruce, 2003).

I have attached notes for this weeks reading

I will post DQ2 STUDENT RESPONSE ASAP

Art Appreciation

Discussion questions( 50-150 words each, you need find two pictures for each question and talk about it )

1)This unit’s visual art terms explains content. In the two images you post think about and give a clue to what the content might be. You do not have to write an essay for each post. Write some notation that connects the image to the course. The reason you are collecting images is for you to look back at the end of the course to see if you got more focused, or maybe the entire blog will tell a story. If all your images are read like what people do in graphic novels or visual books what would it say? You are to be looking for images that please you!

2)Style is the big art term and concept in this weeks reading. You also have the classifications of representational and non-representational, there are other words that can be substituted for these, first learn these two and their distinctions and practice using them in preparation for your essay assignments. The words: line, mark and painterly are all unique to themselves, observe their distinct differences. Continue to find the images that resonate with you!

3)The classification of style is continued in this weeks reading. Realistic, naturalistic, idealistic are different presentations of the world we see. Learn the characteristics and differences of these art terms. Practice using them in preparation for your essay assignments. The term, abstract, can be more clearly understood when you understand the differences between the styles used to portray the world we see. Think about the difference between the adjectives, abstract, and abstracted. Pure abstraction portrays an image that is “disassociated from any specific instance”; but a depiction from the visible or imagined world can be abstracted to present an image that is recognizable but with less detail, accurate color, etc. than what a camera might capture.

4)The classification of medium is introduced in this weeks reading. Painting, drawing, printmaking are all mediums used by artists to record their messages. Artists can use two dimensional or three dimensional mediums. And the ephemeral work of installation and performance have entered our crowded world. Art does not need to be permanent, it can be expressed, its reality captured in written accounts and photographic images. In those documentations the art work continues to “exist”.

5)This week’s unit holds the final group of visual art terms. Most of those terms define different types and mediums used in art making, graphic arts, graphic design, photography video, film and sculpture are all types of art making. They are areas where the technical demands and equipment are more specific. Edge qualities, chiaroscuro and perspective are visual art terms in unit seven.

6)Landscape as a subject matter, as environment for human activity and as a vehicle to describe space is an important element for artists to include in their work. The lecture shows many examples of the use of landscape. You can add that sense of environment and space to your blog images. Tie them to the space and perspective systems with a few words that describe the images.

Accounting:Translation of Foreign Currency Financial Statements

Discussion 2: How Do We Report This?

Southwestern Corporation operates
throughout Texas buying and selling widgets. To expand into more profitable
markets, the company recently decided to open a small subsidiary in the nearby
country of Gualos. The currency in Gualos is the vilsek. For some time, the
government of that country held the exchange rate constant: 1 vilsek equaled
$0.20 (or 5 vilseks equaled $1.00). Initially, Southwestern invested cash in
this new operation; its $90,000 was converted into 450,000 vilseks
($90,000 3 5). Southwestern used one-third of this money (150,000 vilseks,
or $30,000) to purchase land to hold for the possible construction of a plant,
invested one-third in short-term marketable securities, and spent one-third in
acquiring inventory for future resale.

Shortly thereafter, the Gualos
government officially revalued the currency so that 1 vilsek was worth $0.23.
Because of the strength of the local economy, the vilsek gained buying power in
relation to the U.S. dollar. The vilsek then was considered more valuable than
in the past. Southwestern’s accountants realized that a change had occurred;
each of the assets was now worth more in U.S. dollars than the original $30,000
investment: 150,000 vilseks  3 $0.23  5 $34,500. Two of the
company’s top officers met to determine the appropriate method for reporting
this change in currency values.

Controller:  Nothing has
changed. Our cost is still $30,000 for each item. That’s what we spent.
Accounting uses historical cost wherever possible. Thus, we should do nothing.

Finance director:  Yes, but the
old rates are meaningless now. We would be foolish to report figures based on a
rate that no longer exists. The cost is still 150,000 vilseks for each item.
You are right, the cost has not changed. However, the vilsek is now worth
$0.23, so our reported value must change.

Controller:  The new rate
affects us only if we take money out of the country. We don’t plan to do that
for many years. The rate will probably change 20 more times before we remove
money from Gualos. We’ve got to stick to our $30,000 historical cost. That’s our
cost and that’s good, basic accounting.

Finance director:  You mean
that for the next 20 years we will be translating balances for external
reporting purposes using an exchange rate that has not existed for years?
That doesn’t make sense. I have a real problem using an antiquated rate for the
investments and inventory. They will be sold for cash when the new rate is in
effect. These balances have no remaining relation to the original exchange
rate.

Controller:  You misunderstand
the impact of an exchange rate fluctuation. Within Gualos, no impact occurs.
One vilsek is still one vilsek. The effect is realized only when an actual
conversion takes place into U.S. dollars at a new rate. At that point, we will
properly measure and report the gain or loss. That is when realization takes
place. Until then our cost has not changed.

Finance director:  I simply see
no value at all in producing financial information based entirely on an
exchange rate that does not exist. I don’t care when realization takes place.

Controller:  You’ve got to
stick with historical cost, believe me. The exchange rate today isn’t important
unless we actually convert vilseks to dollars.

How should Southwestern report each
of these three assets on its current balance sheet? Does the company have a
gain because the value of the vilsek has increased relative to the U.S. dollar?

Analysis of Ground Rules

Think of a team experience you have had in which the team was effective. Write a description of this team and its tasks, paying particular attention to the behavioral expectations for which the team members held each other accountable (these might have been spoken or unspoken). List the ground rules and describe how the rules helped the team perform and work well together.

Think of an team experience you have had in which the team was not effective. Write a description of this team and its tasks, including the spoken or unspoken ground rules that describe the expectations for behavior on this team. Examine the possibility that some members held ground rules that others did not. How might this have been a source of tension? Analyze how this difference in what is expected of team members caused conflict and damaged performance. What effect could a dialogue about ground rules as a method of team learning have had for this group?

Your assessment should be a minimum of 2 pages in length, double-spaced.

Discussion question one response one

****** please respond to the discussion below add citations and references 😉 ********

The Christian concept of the imago Dei is symbolical relation between god and humanity. The term imago dei comes from the concept of Genesis 1:26. From the article, Imago Dei by Mark Ross, he states, “Man is made according to God’s “kind”, made in the image of God (imago Dei)” (2018). He goes on to further state, “Man, like God, is a personal being” (Ross, 2018). I think what it is trying to say is that God created man to live on earth in a human form, because God cannot be seen in physical appearance, so he created man. In the passage of Genesis 1:26, it states that as god is not in human form, god has made humans the image of God in their moral, spiritual, and intellectual nature. Basically God has created us to “reflect the nature of this God” (Shelly & Miller, 2016). Overall, “God gives us a position of responsibility and authority over the rest of the creation” (Shelly & Miller, 2016). The concept of imago Dei is telling us God has created humans, so that we can oversee others and try to live and take responsibility in God’s purpose on this earth. God created humans, so that we can serve out a purpose as he would if he were physically here on earth. The imago Dei is important to health care because it is a reflection of humans working in the healthcare field to help and serve others. We were created on this earth to serve a purpose and I think it is important to healthcare because health care professionals are serving a purpose to follow in Gods footsteps to do good. Imago Dei is relevant to health care because as humans are created in the image of God, it means “that we must look to God for our meaning, purpose and direction” (Shelly & Miller, 2016). Through the image of God we must be able to look for direction and our purpose in health care when we care for others. Working in health care isn’t for everyone, you have to have compassion, so think the imago Dei is very relevant to health care because it reflects on every individuals purpose in healthcare. People who work in health care had a purpose because they want to help others.

MLA citation

1) A firm that is marketing multimillion-dollar wastewater treatment systems to cities has been unable to sell a new type of system. This setback has occurred even though the firm’s systems are cheaper than competitive systems and meet the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) specifications. To date, the firm’s marketing efforts have been directed to city purchasing departments and the various state EPAs to get on approved bidder’s lists. Talks with city-employed personnel have indicated that the new system is very different from current systems and therefore city sanitary and sewer department engineers, directors of these two departments, and city council members are unfamiliar with the workings of the system. Consulting engineers, hired by cities to work on the engineering and design features of these systems and paid on a percentage of system cost, are also reluctant to favor the new system. (a) What roles do the various individuals play in the purchase process for a wastewater treatment system? (b) How could the firm improve the marketing effort behind the new system?

Introduction

     The
daily life activities of an individual are the outcome of his personal,
environmental and occupational experiences. His performance is controlled by
motor, cognitive and physical responses to certain tasks. Occupational Therapy
is a modern technique which helps the persons with any physical, mental or
psychological disability to be independent and to make them confident enough to
carry out their tasks and to make their performance effective in their
occupation. Occupational therapist OT after understanding of person’s
weaknesses and impairment, help him to meet his expectation about his abilities
and skills.

The day I spent with my daughter in her
school was one of the best day of my life. That say I realized the untold
psychological problem of small creations of God. The motor, sensory, physical
and mental disabilities of these young children affect their learning
abilities. The children with special needs also require personal growth and
learning experiences to be a skill full person of the society he lives in. The
occupation of small kids in their young age is their ability to learn, play and
understand their environment. This knowledge then becomes the part of their
behavior and values. Ridge Ruxton is one of the best school of the area which
provide awfully caring environment to the disable students to make them
confident and independent by focusing on their personal growth. The students
here come from different sects of society with different mental, psychological
and physical disabilities. The staff of the school is really very caring and
helpful who dedicated themselves for the betterment of special children. Their
devotion and commitment to these young children who rely on them to learn how
to eat, walk, read and behave, is wonderful.  (Occupational Therapy , 2016)

     That
day, the students from other schools were also invited. They participated in
racing together and playing games. Seeing them to express their happiness after
their success was the best sight of my life which hit my heart with the feeling
of overwhelmed love for them. After a long session of playing and racing, the
school staff helped them to eat their lunch. After that it was the time of
occupational therapist who regularly visit them for their personal growth with
discussions and involvement with them. I helped occupational therapist to
organize the class rooms. It was a heartwarming experience. Occupational
therapist then paid attention to every student and helped him to do certain
task according to his/her disability. For example Kim, 7 years old, was unable
to keep steady movements due to the malfunctioning of motor neurons. OT taught
him how to hold pencil to write, he also taught him how to copy from
blackboard. Julie who was a cute girl of 4 years, cannot walk due to her
backbone disorder. OT was very kind to her. He taught him the use of
specialized equipment such as wheel chair and devices for dress change. There
were other students too, whom he went to.

The young impaired students experience failure in daily life tasks and low
self-esteem and confidence which influence their performance in physical
activities, social relations with friends and family and academic excellence
and learning. The occupational therapist apply top-down approach to make their
performance affective and confident. (Whalen, 2002)

     Ridge Ruxton, by applying the
advancements in the field of occupational therapy to their students, is helping
them in a divine way for their personal growth, creating self-confidence and
making them a skillful fragment for their society.
