Personal Ethics and Responsibility?

Submit a 200- to 300-word essay in which you identify what ethics looks like in the context of your personal leadership as a Walden student. Specifically:

  • What is ethics, and why is it important for you to behave ethically?
  • How can you, as a Walden student, conduct yourself ethically and in alignment with the University’s five guiding principles of honesty, trust, fairness, respect, and responsibility?
  • For each of the five guiding principles, provide at least one specific example of an action you will take. To support your proposed action examples, include at least two references to Walden’s Code of Conduct or other parts of the Student Handbook, or the other Learning Resources from this week that you feel are relevant. As a reminder, be sure to paraphrase, where possible, to demonstrate your understanding of the topic and provide the original sources of the information you reference in your essay.

Philosophers Quotes Analysis

I will tell you of a twofold process. At one time it [i.e., the cosmos] grew together to be one only out of many, at another it parted to pieces so as to be many instead of one. Fire and Water and Earth and the mighty height of Air. And also, apart from these, dreaded Strife of equal weight to each, and Love in their midst, equal in length and breadth….All these elements are equal and of the same age in their creation. But each presides over its own area, and each has its own character, and they dominate in turn in the course of time.

What does this quote mean? And specifically the text listed below.

And also, apart from these, dreaded Strife of equal weight to each, and Love in their midst, equal in length and breadth…. mean and what

Second question

Of the first philosophers, most thought that the principles which pertained to the qualities of matter were the only principles of all things…. Yet they did not all agree as to the number and the nature of these principles. Thales, the founder of this type of philosophy, said the principle is water (for which reason he declared that the earth rests on water). Perhaps he got this notion from seeing that the nutrition of all things is moist, and that heat itself is generated from the moist and kept alive by it (and that from which they come to be is a principle of all things). Perhaps he also got his notion from the fact that the seeds of all things have a moist nature, and that water is the origin of the nature of moist things.

The first sentence Of the first philosophers, most thought that the principles which pertained to the qualities of matter were the only principles of all things…. Yet they did not all agree as to the number and the nature of these principles. What does it mean?

I think it means early believed the principles related to the quality of matter applied to everything. For example, plants are made of cells however according to the principles of matter it was made from atoms. When they say they did not agree to the number or nature does that mean, does it mean they did not agree how many principles of matter there were and the nature of matter.

In addition, when they state Perhaps he got this notion from seeing that the nutrition of all things is moist, and that heat itself is generated from the moist and kept alive by it (and that from which they come to be is a principle of all things).

Does he mean that everything requires water (which has a moist nature). I don’t know what it means heat itself is generated from the moist and kept alive by it (and that from which they come to be is a principle of all things). Can I have an example?

Trait and Skill Aspects of Personality

List and define the five traits included in the Big Five theory of personality. What are the limitations of this approach?

List and define three of Henry Murray’s needs. For one of the needs, provide an example of an occupation that would help to satisfy that need and explain why. For another need, describe how the need can cause trouble for a person in an occupational role.

Take one element of the theories or ideas presented this week and apply it to a real person – for example, someone from current events, politics, business, sports, the entertainment field. Define the terms you’re using, and apply them to an aspect of this person’s life (a specific action, behavior, or decision, for example). How can we understand this person more fully by using this concept to understand him/her?

Recruitment: Disparate Treatment and Adverse Impact

The staffing process involves generating a pool of qualified candidates for a particular job (recruitment) and deciding which of the applicants to hire (selection). The staffing process can occur with external as well as internal candidates. With internal candidates, the terms “promoting from within,” “career ladders,” and “succession planning” are frequently used.

Whether selecting from internal or external candidates, industrial organization (I/O) professionals must be aware of unintended, potentially illegal effects on groups of individuals who are not recruited or selected.

Using the online library resources, research the topics of employee recruitment, disparate treatment, and adverse impact. Choose a recent (within the past five years) scholarly, peer-reviewed article related to these topics.

In your response:

  • Describe the article.
    • What was the main purpose?
    • What were the key ideas and information included?
    • What conclusions and areas for further research were suggested?
  • Analyze the effect of disparate treatment and adverse impact on the recruitment process.
  • Justify three best-practice guidelines to help ensure that disparate treatment and adverse impact are avoided in recruitment activities.

Parties and Pretrial Procedures, law homework help

Parties and Pretrial Procedures

Much of the work of the criminal justice system will never be
seen by the general public. Prosecutors, defense attorneys, and grand
juries determine the course of criminal cases well before a case is
even committed to a public docket. In your paper, detail the special
responsibilities prosecutors have towards initiating a criminal case
against a defendant. In other words, how does a prosecutor make the
decision to charge someone? In your paper:

  1. Explain why a grand jury is used rather than the prosecutor simply issuing a criminal charge.
  2. Based on the evidence presented by the prosecutor and
the finding of probable cause that a crime was committed, discuss the
purpose of a grand jury issuing a true bill (criminal charge) or not.
  3. Discuss whether or not a defense attorney and/or the
defendant can address a grand jury and provide reasoning for why a
defense attorney and/or the defendant would choose to attend or not
    attend the grand jury proceeding.
  4. Provide all the procedural and substantive ways that a
prosecutor and a defense attorney can resolve a case before it goes to a
    grand jury.
  5. Explain all the procedural and substantive dispositions
of a case between a prosecutor and a defense attorney before it goes
    to a trial.

In your analysis, include your personal opinion of the morality
of a system where so much of the charging and plea bargaining process
is in the hands of lawyers, often out of view from the general public.
What are the potentials for abuse? What effects on “equal justice”
can this system have?
The paper must be three to four pages in length (excluding title and
reference pages) and formatted according to APA style. You must use at
least two scholarly sources in addition to the textbook to support your
claims. Cite your sources within the text of your paper and on the
reference page.

New Products, health and medicine homework help

For this assignment, you work for a private, for-profit company which has 5 critical care, 35 ALS, and 60 BLS trucks. You hold the position of a supervisor who routinely makes recommendations to the chief operations officer (COO) regarding new equipment on the market. You are to identify four (4) new EMS products that are currently available or under development. They must have been on the market for less than one year to be considered. You should attempt to contact and interview a sales representative from the company and learn all about the new device or piece of equipment. Using your “scientific mind,” evaluate these devices and make a recommendation to the COO on each new product. You may take a positive or negative stance as long as you justify your recommendation. At a minimum, you should provide a description of the device and consider cost, savings, redundancy of something you currently use, benefits, etc. Using websites, product literature, JEMS articles, etc.; these must be referenced and documented in your paper following APA format.

WK 4 Discussion Applying Ethics in Practice

We will begin applying the ethics we are studying with via the discussion boards. I will be assigning case studies that have to do with the first 3 provisions of the Code of Ethics for Nursing for Week 9 presentations. For this week’s discussion, read the following article:

http://www.cnn.com/2017/01/03/us/charles-manson-hospitalized/index.html?sr=fbCNN010417charles-manson-hospitalized/index.html0300AMStoryLink&linkId=32991209

Presume you are the nurse admitting this patient. Discuss your reactions and your conflicts.

Choose one of the first 3 provisions and discuss this article in that context. Please include the provision number in your post subject line.

Initial post is to identify the provision and use it to support how you would solve the dilemma in the case study. Each student must then post a substantive reply to two fellow students. You must use & cite references from the book!
