You are quickly impressing your lead teacher and director. Your director sees such promise in you that she has asked you to help her prepare for an upcoming staff meeting. Although you are nervous, you are excited for the opportunity and you truly want to impress them!

The director has been made aware that a few policies are not being enforced or were not made clear. She wants you to help her tackle this issue in the upcoming faculty meeting. You have heard a few people complaining about these specific policies, so you are excited to tackle the project. You hope that your contribution to the faculty meeting can help get everyone on the same page.

As you dig into the policies, you begin to realize that some policies aren’t followed because some staff believe these policies do not benefit the children and do not wish to engage with them. You have an ethical responsibility to your colleagues, children, families, and community to advocate against policies that do not benefit the children, so you must carefully consider these policies before presenting at the staff meeting.

Policy #1: Instruction will not change from student to student. All students are to be treated like equals and instructions will not be modified under any circumstances. Often times in life accommodations aren’t made and we want to set our children up for success.

Policy #2: On water day, each kid must have a pair of water shoes that are rubber bottoms and purchased by the parents. If the child does not have them, they are not allowed to engage with water play and must remain in the classroom while their peers are outside.

Before you write your response, make sure to review Chapter 10 of the Gadzikowski (2013) text, in regards to advocacy and the NAEYC Code of Conduct and Statement of Commitment to be clear on your obligations as an early childhood professional. In your discussion, answer the following questions for both policies individually:

• Is this policy ethical? Why or why not?
• If it is ethical, how will you get all staff on the same page and begin to enforce the policy? Be specific and consider revising the policy slightly to get more staff “buy in.”
• If it is not ethical, how do you plan to be an advocate? Be specific with your step by step approach and address who you will contact and what your plan is to bring awareness.

As an early childhood educator, you will often run into situations that require the application of NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct and Statement of Commitment. While this document is important, it can sometimes feel lengthy and hard to remember. Choose one the following methods to change this written statement into something more intriguing, interesting, and easier to comprehend:

• Rewrite the Code of Ethics as a pictogram and attach.
• Rewrite the Code of Ethics into a song or a poem and attach.
• Rewrite the Code of Ethics into a children’s book using Storyjumper (Links to an external site.) and attach.
• Rewrite the Code of Ethics into a poster for your classroom and attach.

For your discussion, attach your Code of Ethics revision and explain why you have selected this approach. (2) develop a survey-opinion poll to determine if there should be a new product introduced. The questions in your survey-opinion poll should be designed to capture if the current users of the product are unsatisfied or completely satisfied with the product. This information will help you determine as the manager if you will introduce a new product.

(a) The survey must be at least 20 questions.

(b) The survey must have a reference list at the end for each article you researched to gather data on your favorite product.

(c) You must include a statement for your final opinion – introduce a new product or not.

Introduction
The purposes of each case study assignment include the following:

• To hone your abilities to research using scholarly sources
• To advance critical thinking and writing skills
• To compile a response to the prompts provided
• To explore a historical topic and make connections to change over time

Instructions
Pick one (1) of the following topics. Then, address the corresponding questions/prompts for your selected topic. Use at least one (1) documented example of the corresponding primary source in your writing.

Option 1: McCarthyism and Anti-Communist Campaigns
The Cold War brought about an irrational fear of communism and communist activities in the United States. As we are learning this week, one of the most vocal instigators of this paranoia was Senator Joseph McCarthy. McCarthy delivered a speech about the imminent threat of communism on February 9, 1950. Perform a search on the internet and locate and read Joseph McCarthy’s speech given in Wheeling, West Virginia on February 9, 1950. Copy and paste the following keywords into your Google search bar: “Joseph McCarthy, Wheeling, West Virginia.” The speech is also referred to as “Enemies from Within.”

Construct the case study by responding to the following prompts:

• Explain how Senator Joseph McCarthy defined communist nations within the speech. What specific threats did these nations pose?
• Assess if Senator Joseph McCarthy charges were accurate.
• Analyze anti-communist sentiments during the Cold War era, were these sentiments valid. If so, how? If not, why not?
• Explain if there are other examples of events similar to the Red Scare that have occurred throughout history and modern day.
• Examine what happened to people who invoked the Fifth Amendment, refused to appear or were found in violation of the law as defined by the Congressional Committee.

Option 2: The Civil Rights Movement
Using the Internet, locate and read Martin Luther King Jr’s “I Have a Dream” speech given in Washington D.C., August 1963. Copy and paste the following keywords into your Google search bar: “I Have a Dream by Martin Luther King, Jr.” Feel free also to locate and incorporate additional scholarly sources to respond to this case study, including information on the Civil Rights Movement.

Construct the case study by responding to the following prompts:

• Explain if the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s effectively changed the nation.
• What effect would the Civil Rights Acts have across the continent on minority groups?
• Do you think that the tactics and strategies that civil rights activists used in the 1960s would apply to today’s racial and ethnic conflicts? Why or why not?
• Do the ideas of the 1960s still have relevance today? If so how? If not, why not?
• Analyze how the Civil Rights Movement would impact diversity in America today.

Option 3: American Domestic and Foreign Policies (1953-1991)
Complete a search either in the Chamberlain Library or internet for domestic and foreign polices of four (4) of the following Presidents. Please incorporate at least one primary source of either a policy or act that you have chosen to write about.

• Reagan

Then, compare domestic and foreign polices of your four (4) presidents by answering the following prompts:

• Explain how your selected presidents worked to improve the United States economically and socially. Give at least one example of each president.
• Assess if the policies of your choice of presidents strengthen or weaken the United States.
• Explain how you see your choice of presidents served the public interest and further the cause of democracy.
• Determine if it is constitutional for the United States to fight preemptive wars.
• Determine if human rights and morality should be the cornerstones of United State foreign policy.

Part 1 Business Process Analysis and Visualization

Reflect on a business process you use or manage within your own organization on a regular basis (for example, ordering a product online, a banking transaction, purchasing an airline ticket, training personnel, tracking inventory, etc.).

Provide a description of the business process and the functional areas of the organization that are impacted by this process. Using a workflow diagram, produce a visualization of that business process.

Part 2: Business Process Re-Engineering

Using the business process you identified in Part 1(Business Process Analysis and Visualization) determine how the process could be improved, and how information systems utilized within that business process would be impacted. Provide a brief explanation of where there could be improvements to enhance the competitive advantage of that organization. Then, create a revised workflow diagram of the improved process. Explain how the improved process will create a competitive advantage and begin to formulate a strategy for changing this business process. Provide a brief description of anything that will need to be taken into consideration if you were to implement this new business process.

Please note: This is the same type of workflow diagram as you created in Part 1(Business Process Analysis and Visualization) but you will be revising it to show improvements in the process. These improvements may be due to the implementation of a new system, creating more efficiencies, enhancing customer experiences, or other competitive advantages that could be made with a new or upgraded existing information system.

Part 3: Business Pressure Analysis

Using the same business process you re-engineered in Part 2(Business Process Re-Engineering),identify potential business pressures that may impact the ability to implement the new process. In a few paragraphs, explain these pressures and what you might do to help mitigate the risks involved in these pressures.
