The gilded age, History Research Paper help

The core assignment of this course is a documented research paper (1500-2000 words in length = approx. 6 – 8 pages double spaced, 12-point font).

  • The essay should support a thesis statement with information gained from research or investigation.
  • The paper will not be just a report presenting information, but will be an essay that carefully examines and presents your own historical interpretation of the topic you have chosen and your interpretation of the information you have gathered.
  • The paper may include consideration of problems and solutions, define key terms, or refute arguments against your thesis statement.

It will be important to choose a topic of interest to you.

  • Approach this assignment with an open and skeptical mind, then form an opinion based on what you have discovered.
  • You must suspend belief while you are investigating and let the discoveries shape your opinion. (This is a thesis-finding approach.)
  • Once you have found your thesis, write the paper to support it.

You will use some of the following critical thinking skills in this process:

  1. Choosing an appropriate topic, limiting the topic
  2. Gathering information, summarizing sources
  3. Analyzing and evaluating sources
  4. Defining key terms
  5. Synthesizing information, comparing and contrasting sources
  6. Testing a thesis, making an historical argument, using refutation
  7. Amassing support for a position
  8. Documenting sources

Because this may be a longer essay than you have written before and a complex process is involved, it is recommended that you complete this paper using the following steps:

  1. Choose a topic related to U.S. History after 1877 (Chapters 16-28) that you would truly like to explore and that you are willing to spend some time on. Your chosen topic should be focused. Pose a question that you really want to answer. You may want to begin with more than one topic in mind.
  2. Do some preliminary reading on the topic(s). You may begin with the textbook, then further explore the information available. Refine your topic. Summarize your topic, your interest in the topic, the questions you want to answer, and a hypothesis you want to test.
  3. Gather information from a variety of sources. Use a minimum of four sources for your paper, and at least one must be a primary source.
    • Examples of primary sources are ones that are used in our discussion forums 2 – 8.
    • They are sources that are contemporary to the times under investigation.
    • An example of a secondary source is our textbook, though the textbook also contains excerpts of primary sources, which you may use as a source in your essay.
  4. Outline the results of your research and then plan for your essay (note you are not required to submit the outline).
  5. Write the final draft and be sure to include a Works Cited List; be sure to use the correct MLA documentation style.

need help with final paper

Final Paper: Research Proposal

Design a research study on the topic of the study selected in Week One and critiqued in Week Three. Your design should seek to resolve the limitations you identified in the study you critiqued. Your paper must address all of the components required in the “Methods” section of a research proposal:

  • State the research question and/or hypothesis.
  • Specify the approach (qualitative or quantitative), research design, sampling strategy, data collection procedures, and data analysis techniques to be used.
  • If the design is quantitative, also describe the variables, measures, and statistical tests you would use.
  • Analyze ethical issues that may arise and explain how you would handle these issues.

Your Final Paper must be eight to ten pages in length (excluding title and reference pages) and formatted according to APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center. Utilize a minimum of six peer-reviewed sources that were published within the last 10 years, in addition to the textbook, that are documented in APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center. The sources should consist of the following:

  • One source should be the article you critiqued in the Week Three assignment.
  • At least two sources should be about the research methodology you have chosen for your study.
  • At least one source should be on ethical issues in research.
  • The remaining sources may be about anything pertinent to your study.

In accordance with APA style, all references listed must be cited in the body of the paper.

Required Sections and Subsections (use these headings in your paper)

  1. Introduction – Introduce the research topic, explain why it is important, and present your research question and/or hypothesis.
  2. Literature Review – Summarize the current state of knowledge on your topic, making reference to the findings of previous research studies (including the one you critiqued in Week Three). Briefly analyze and critique these studies and mention the research methods that have previously been used to study the topic. State whether your proposed study is a replication of a previous study or a new approach using methods that have not been used before. Be sure to properly cite all of your sources in APA style.
  3. Methods
    1. Design – Indicate whether your proposed study is qualitative or quantitative in approach. Identify the specific research design, using one of the designs we have studied in Weeks Three through Five, and indicate whether it is experimental or non-experimental. Evaluate your chosen design and explain why you believe this design is appropriate for the topic and how it will provide the information you need to answer the research question. Cite sources on research methodology to support your choices.
    2. Participants – Identify and describe the sampling strategy you would use to recruit participants for your study. Estimate the number of participants you would need and explain why your sampling method is appropriate for your research design and approach.
    3. Procedure/Measures – Apply the scientific method by describing the steps you would use in carrying out your study. Indicate whether you will use any kind of test, questionnaire, or measurement instrument. If using an existing published instrument, provide a brief description and cite your source. If you are creating a questionnaire, survey, or test, describe the types of information you will gather and explain how you would establish the validity and reliability. If you are not using such an instrument, describe how you would collect the data.
    4. Data Analysis – Describe the statistical techniques (if quantitative) or the analysis procedure (if qualitative) you plan to use to analyze the data. Cite at least one source on the chosen analysis technique (from your Week Two assignment).
    5. Ethical Issues – Analyze the impact of ethical concerns on your proposed study, such as confidentiality, deception, informed consent, potential harm to participants, conflict of interest, IRB approval, etc. After analyzing the ethical issues that apply to your research proposal, indicate what you would do to handle these concerns.
  4. Conclusion – Briefly summarize the major points from your paper and reiterate why your proposed study is needed.

Incan Empire has been compared to a modern welfare stat, History project

In this unit, we learned about the Incan Empire. Before you begin your project, review your notes thoroughly. Pay special attention to the government structure of the Incas.

  •  Project Rubrics for this project. attached below

The Incan Empire has been compared to a modern welfare state. For this Unit Project, you will conduct research on a modern welfare state of your choice (Sweden is a good example, but you may choose another if you wish). As you research, refer back to the initial lesson in this course for reminders about good research habits. Make use of the resources such as graphic organizers there.

Part one:

Your project will be a 400-word academic essay. Discuss the similarities and differences between the modern welfare state (such as Sweden) and the Incan Empire. Choose three points of comparison, similarities or differences, for your body paragraphs. Avoid an essay structure that lists all similarities in one paragraph and all differences in another.

Part two:

Create a PowerPoint that illustrates these points. Your PowerPoint must have the following components:

  •  Six slides with three bullet points. Each point must have 3-5 complete sentences.
  • In-text citations for all outside sources that you use. (Here is a website if you need a reminder of how to use in-text citations: https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/747/02/ ). You will also use in-text citations for your essay in Part One of this project.
  • Use Photos, graphs, charts, data structures, etc., to further support your main ideas or demonstrate empirical evidence.

This paper must be written in MLA style. For more information on using the MLA citation format, please visit the following website. This is a great website to bookmark for future reference when writing academic papers:

MLA Formatting and Style Guide

Use at least two sources, in-text citations and create a works cited page.

Answer 3 Critical thinking questions about school and how to handle with stress.

1. The Master’s Entry Program in Nursing requires a great deal of commitment, flexibility, and at times, personal sacrifice. Consider the following scenario: Your clinical day is reassigned two weeks prior to the beginning of the next semester. You will be assigned a different hospital and clinical faculty. You have a pre-planned schedule conflict (i.e work, vacation, purchased flight ticket, family commitment etc.) How will you resolve this dilemma?

2. Your clinical professor suggests that you need practice on your skills and wants you to spend additional hours in the skills lab. You disagree with this. How do you handle this issue?

3. There is a conflict between you and your professor over a test grade. You received a B and are very disappointed. How would you handle this?

Word limit is 500 each, be sure to at least have 300 words!
