Applications of Intelligence Assessment, psychology homework help

Need this with very quick turnaround. 250 words. please reference info

Applications of Intelligence Assessment – This begins the question

The WAIS-IV is a commonly used standardized intelligence test for adolescents and adults.  Assume you have been asked to evaluate an inpatient and have very limited time so that you can administer only 3 subtests from the WAIS-IV.  The referral question is to determine the likelihood that the subject will be able to return to work. In your discussion post, you must describe the subtests you selected and thoroughly explain the rationale for your choice.  In your rationale be sure to describe the properties and applications of the standardized intelligence test subtests selected as they apply to your assigned client. Identify at least one methodological consideration concerning the reliability and validity of administering the chosen subtests. Explain what modifications you would make (if any) to your choice of subtests if you found out your client had less than a high school education or was not a native English speaker. Give examples of arguments for and against the use of standardized tests to make predictions about future performance and apply these arguments to your specific assigned client. In addition to the required reading, research a minimum of one peer-reviewed article from the Ashford University Library to support your choice of subtests. Refer to the list below to determine your assigned client.

Last name begins with

  • A through I: Your client’s career: Business owner of a printing company with 50 employees
  • J through P: Your client’s career: High school English teacher
  • Q through Z: Your client’s career: Professional painter—residential and commercial

Background information

What does intelligence consist of?
Intelligence is not just one ability. It is a multifaceted capacity made up of many abilities, such as the ability to

  • acquire and apply knowledge
  • reason logically, plan effectively, and infer perceptively
  • grasp and visualize concepts
  • find the right words and thoughts with facility
  • cope with and adjust to novel situations,
  • and more (Cohen, Swerdlik, & Sturman, 2013).

What are multiple intelligences?

I.Q. testing over the phone?

In addition to clinical-, counseling- and educational psychology, cognitive intelligence plays an important role in research in industrial and organizational psychology. Assessments of cognitive intelligence are typically performed in face-to-face settings. But do they have to be? What if valid and reliable measures of intelligence could be obtained by testing someone over the telephone? Blickle, Kramer, & Mierke (2010) used the Wonderlic Personnel Test (WPT) to assess the quality of intelligence testing by telephone with a sample of working adults and compared the results with intelligence testing by face-to-face test administration. Check out the article in the list of recommended readings to find out why the authors concluded intelligence testing by telephone is indeed a promising alternative to traditional test administration. What are pros and cons of assessing intelligence over the phone?

The role of achievement tests

Achievement tests are designed to measure accomplishments—they are meant to answer the question, “What has the individual learned and how does her or his level of achievement compare to age- and grade- peers?” Achievement batteries survey learning in several academic areas (e.g., mathematics, reading, writing). Aptitude tests focus on life experiences or informal learning rather than structured learning. Structured learning is normally assessed in achievement tests.

Example: Tyler is a 10-year-old male who is in the 5th grade. Each year since 3rd grade, he has progressively fallen more and more behind in his grades, but before 5th grade, he managed to pass (mostly A’s & B’s in 3rd grade and C’s & D’s in 4th grade). Now, in the 5th grade he is not passing his classes (D’s & F’s).. His school counselor recommended a psychoeducational evaluation for Tyler. Among other assessments, Tyler was administered the WISC-V (intelligence) and the WIAT-III (achievement battery). He scored in the upper limits of the average range for intelligence, but significantly below average in Total Reading, Basic Reading, Reading Comprehension & Fluency, Written Expression, Mathematics and Math Fluency. He performed best on measures of Mathematics and Math Fluency; however, he was still below average in these areas. At school, he also does best in his math class but as the level of reading required in his math books has increased over the past few years, his math performance has also declined significantly. Additional assessments indicate that when solving mathematical problems does not require reading, Tyler’s performance is almost at grade level and some skills are consistent with his scores on the intelligence tests. The psychologist who evaluated Tyler recommends that the priority intervention focus on remediating reading deficits and that Tyler also have access to audio versions of written texts.

More on testing children: If you are especially interested in the applications of intelligence tests to working with children, you may find the recommended article by Sternberg et al. (2014) interesting. Sternberg and his colleagues studied whether prior successes with educational interventions grounded in the theory of successful intelligence could be used as the primary basis for instruction in language arts, mathematics, and science.

Testing senior adults: If your interests lie in the area of working with the geriatric population, check out the University of Iowa Geriatric Education Center website for information on several assessment instruments for use with geriatric clients.

compare and contrast the responses you received from women and men. What do you notice? Why do you think responses may have been the way they were? What do responses suggest about gender in American society?

Mimi:

-no, scoffed. Never felt the urge, felt comfortable as a girl and embraced being a woman. She considered herself a tomboy to feel freely. Didn’t dress “feminine” because she didn’t want to draw attention to herself in Iran as a child.

Michael:

-firm no. never crossed his mind. Was considered a sissy, bothered him because it made him feel weak and less masculine.

Lillian:

-Firm no. because she’s satisfied with who she is. Didn’t feel like a tomboy, embraced her femininity.

Alessio:

-*laughed* no. because he feels comfortable in his own skin. Felt as though he was not considered a sissy, because he feels he’d be disowned by his family if he were to be otherwise. In persian community.

Andrew:

-no. Like never not even a thought. Never considered a sissy, felt “normal”.

Sahar:

-did not want to be a boy growing up. Considered a tomboy, wasn’t phased because she was confident in herself enough to not care about other people’s opinions.

Matthew:

-firm no. felt comfortable being a boy, enjoyed many things that were considered “boy” as a child. Wasn’t considered a sissy because he did not consider himself feminine.

Ask the men if they ever wanted to be a girl when they were growing up. Again, note their reaction to the question. Ask why or why not. Then ask if they were considered sissies growing up and, if so, how they felt about it. Record responses and observations.

Reflection

Once you’ve completed your poll and records, compare and contrast the responses you received from women and men. What do you notice? Why do you think responses may have been the way they were? What do responses suggest about gender in American society?

Type up your Fieldwork notes and Reflections to turn in (formatting in a way that makes the most sense to you). In total, this should be at least 750 words (3 double-spaced pages).

Oral Reponse

Once during the semester, each student will have to get up on their “soapbox” and do a 2-minute

oral response to anything whatsoever. This is an oral assignment only—students do not need to turn

anything in. During their Soapbox, students need to make at least one opinionated point in their 2 minutes

of talking time. While it is fine for these responses to be passionate, personal, and somewhat improvised, it

helps to at least mentally rehearse what you are going to say in advance because 2 minutes is not very long!

Students are welcome to write out and read their response if they prefer. After a student offers their soapbox

response, they will field their own questions and comments from the class, time permitting. We will

schedule all Soapbox Responses at the beginning of the semester, so students know well in advance when

they will be carrying out this assignment. (We will go in reverse alphabetical order.) You will be scored

out of 10 pts.

Assignment 2: Position Paper Two – Media and Society

Assignment 2: Position Paper Two – Media and Society

This is the second of two (2) position papers based on the following scenario to be completed in this course.

Again, imagine that you are running for a state office (e.g., governor, senator, or Congressional representative) and you have to prepare a position paper for a debate on controversial issues in the news. [Select one (1) of the topics addressed in Weeks 5-9 of this class.] Remember that you are addressing a significant segment of your state’s population and you want to be elected to public office, so your topic will have to have a broad appeal, such as public trust and the media, the loss of privacy, safeguarding the First Amendment, online harassment, and the dangers of privatizing public information, among other topics from those chapters.

You will want your position paper to demonstrate critical thinking, sound logic, valid claims, personal passion, and credible support that is cited correctly because the paper will be provided to the news media before the debate and will be scrutinized by the media and reported on regarding these criteria.

Write a three page (500 to 750 words) paper in which you:

  1. Introduce your position using a thesis statement in the first paragraph, including a quote, question, or statistic from your reliable sources and an overview of the main points you will cover. (It’s important to grab the audience’s interest and inform the audience of what the main and support points are.)
  2. Provide two or three (2-3) major points to support your thesis statement. (Put each major point in a separate paragraph.)
  3. Provide one (1) paragraph in which you identify and answer an expected argument against your view.
  4. Organize arguments and support your claims effectively.
  5. Demonstrate personal passion for your position and critical thinking with persuasive language, sound logic, valid claims, and credible support for the claims.
  6. Use the Strayer University Library at https://research.strayer.edu to locate and provide two to three (2-3) credible and reliable sources (in addition to the textbook) about current events, which have been published in the last five (5) years and are cited correctly in the position paper. (Wikipedia, dictionaries, and encyclopedias are unacceptable and will not count toward your number of credible sources.)

Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:

  • Be typed, double-spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references must follow Strayer Writing Standards. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.
  • Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required assignment page length.

The specific course learning outcomes associated with this assignment are:

  • Apply critical thinking skills to the analysis of issues involving mass media and society.
  • Use technology and information resources to research issues in media and society.
  • Write clearly and concisely about media and society using proper writing mechanics.

strategic partnerships between companies, business and finance homework help

I need PEER RESPONSES to these discussion answers posted by my classmates. The responses MUST be positive and provide analytical, integrative, problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Cite your references used to support your peer response!

If you have never done one of these in an ONLINE course, please don’t ask to complete this assignment.

1. Discuss the major factors that encourage the formation of strategic partnerships between companies.

The major factors that are needed to help establish a strategic partnership between companies are divided into four different categories and they are

Opportunities to enhance value by combining the competencies of two more organizations – when companies combine their competencies it allows both companies to offer a must better and more superior customer value.

Environmental complexity – Environmental and environments always present an escalating turbulence and diversity within one company but when the companies have partnered up they can utilize each other environmental strategies to offset their on in order resolves these issues. Companies need to respond quickly and they do so by using these two methods. “(1) Altering their internal organization structures and (2) establishing strategic relationship with other organizations” (Cravens & Piercy, 2013).

Competitive strategy – When two organizations work together it allows one or both organization to compete through the other organizations relationships and it continues to deliver the best value to the end-user.

Skills and resource gaps – The skills and resources are continuously involving and not just one organization can remain on top of the technology a developing products. When two organization partnership they can complement each other’s capabilities and remain focused technologies and the involving products. Some of the constraints that can impact organizations is the technology, financial, market access and information technology. (Cravens & Piercy, 2013).

Organizations that partner up other organization gain the most benefit by combining their resource and marketing skills that each other might be lacking and it allows both companies the opportunity to provide the best technology and support in order to present the best value and product to the end user.

2. Compare and contrast vertical and horizontal strategic relationships between independent companies.

Vertical and horizontal relationships differ primarily in the position of the partners in the alliance process and their potential contribution to the alliance effort. Vertical relationships arise due to the functional specialization of participants in the value chain. This includes product development and design, manufacturing, marketing, distribution and even customer service. The vertical channels of distribution link the areas of supply and demand. Vertical relationships may involve customer/supplier relationships or relationships among participants in the distribution channel. The distribution channel includes wholesalers, manufacturers, retailers and end–users.

In contrast, horizontal relationships occur with strategic alliances or joint ventures. The relationship partners are not linked primarily by their position in the value chain process which involves creating goods or services. Horizontal relationships exist primarily between organizations which manufacture a good or provide a service. Strategic alliance and joint venture cooperative relationships involve partners at the same level in the distribution channel. This makes the relationship horizontal.

3. Discuss the major factors that encourage the formation of strategic partnerships between companies.

Strategic relationships between companies can occur in order to gain access to markets, enhancing value offerings, reduce risks caused by technology advancing, offering of complimentary skills, learning and acquiring new information, and building close relationships with major market customers (Cravens, 2013).  Over the years, companies have developed this strategy in order to offset costs of marketing and technology as well as combatting the competitive strength of some markets.  Collaboration of companies can be based on collaborating on certain activities such as inventory programs to enact the just in time method, marketing programs to offset cost, and long-term supply contracts (Craven, 2013).  While these collaborations can be extremely positive for the company, it can be a complex arrangement to management as well.

Often times companies will develop the strategic partnership to build economies of scale leading to a more abundance of resources and even expand the possibility of international success (D’Alimonte, 2014).  It’s important to note resources may be alter based on other factors as well such as location and demographics.  Many companies will begin partnerships in order to combat competitiveness of companies of the market.  These partnerships can battle the competition by joining together at a time when technological and administrative complexity has increased (D’Alimonte, 2014).  Companies might also experience a set of skills or capabilities it is missing and join with a complimented company to fill in these gaps and vice versa (D’Alimonte, 2014).

Companies acquire risk consistently, whether its financially, market value, or in the stocks.  In order to build financial backing, a company will seek out a strategic relationship with another company.  This strategic relationship will result in a share in the risk, whether in money or systems, that will alleviate some risk from both companies (D’Alimonte, 2014).  In marketing, there is a risk involved including ensuring the target audience and the cost of the marketing campaign if the market is unsuccessful or successful.  The partnership would eliminate the hit these ricks can take on a company.

Topic 4 DQ 2.1

Please respond with a paragraph to the following post, add citations and references:

The topic of suicide and euthanasia are never easy to discuss with anyone that has been impacted by such a devasting act. As a Christian, suicide is a sinful act and there are many verses in the Bible that support these teachings. Christians believe that committing suicide is morally wrong and unacceptable, it goes against their belief system and principles of humanity.

Meilander rejected euthanasia and medically assisted suicide, but accepts refusal of treatment, if it is not done with the intention to cause the death of the person. Meilander also said that Christians like to maximize care not reduce suffering, therefore euthanasia is unacceptable in the Christian worldview. His view on suicide is that it’s morally wrong because of its contradiction to our nature as creatures of God (Meilander, 2013).

As a Christian, I do not believe in suicide or euthanasia. I think God has a plan for us all and He never gives us anything we can’t handle. No one has the right to take anyone’s life or commit suicide. However, I know it can be difficult when you have patients that are close to death and choose to go on hospice and end their treatment. I think patients suffering from terminal illnesses are justified to end their treatment and suffering. If they have a living will which states what type of treatment they choose, I believe they should be allowed to make their own decision. I am not here to pass judgement on anyone, but here to provide love and support.

2nd Assignment: You need to read the philosophical note below then answer the question on Bold

The River (Heraclitus)

Heraclitus (535-475 BCE) – This Pre-Socratic Greek philosopher is noted for having said . . . “You cannot step in the same river twice.”

Heraclitus of Ephesus, also known as the Weeping Philosopher and Heraclitus the Obscure, has left us only a few philosophical sentences. His belief seems to have been that the universe is in a constant state of flux, as this famous quote indicates.

By the time that you attempt to step into the river a second time, the waters of the river will have moved on and so, the river will not be the same one you stepped into the first time.

The sentence also has a second meaning; you cannot step into the same river again because you are no longer the same as the person who took the first step. The question of how identity is preserved over time is one which still animates philosophers today.

Answer 1 of the following two questions:

1) Do you agree with Heraclitus
that everything in the universe is in a state of flux (always changing)?

2) If everything is in a state of
constant change why then do we tend to believe that certain things do not
change (remain constant), including:

– our identities?

– the laws that govern the
universe?

– God (or gods)? (if you are a
believer)

___________________________________________________________________________

3rd assignment: you need to read Article 2 (in the attachment) then answer the question bellow following these steps:

1. “Global poverty cannot be eliminated by sharing the wealth.” Do you agree? Why or why not?

The answer should be at least one paragraph in length and double-spaced

2. McMillan argues that inequality is an obstacle to growth. if so, should we try to reduce or eliminate inequality? why is this your view?

The answer should be at least one paragraph in length and double-spaced

________________________________________________________________________________

4th Assignment: You need to read the scenario below then answer the question on Bold:

War or Family?

The philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre provided an example of a thorny dilemma faced by a student who came to him for advice during WW II. The man’s brother had been killed by the Germans, and it was his fervent wish to join the war effort, avenge his brother’s death, and help to free France, but he lived at home with his ailing mother and knew that she needed him.

Which should take precedence: the big issue of the war, in which his contribution may be very small, or a family responsibility that only he can fulfill? Explain in a few sentences.

Peer thread response

Replies of 300–350 words to at least 2 other students’
original threads. Each reply has at least 1 citation and at least 1 Scripture
reference. Each reply must be unique. They must be free of grammatical
errors, must be properly formatted in current Turabian style, and must consist
of well-reasoned, contemplative, and substantive posts and replies, rather than
mere ipse dixit. These threads and replies must provide citations to the
sources of or support for your ideas as well as any quoted materials and/or
borrowed ideas. Responding to a classmate’s original post requires
both the addition of new ideas and analysis. A particular point made by the
classmate must be addressed and built upon by your analysis in order to move
the conversation forward. Thus, the response post is a rigorous assignment that
requires you to build upon initial posts to develop deeper and more thorough
discussion of the ideas introduced in the initial posts. As such, reply posts
that merely affirm, restate or unprofessionally quarrel with the previous
post(s) and fail to make a valuable, substantive contribution to the discussion
will receive appropriate point deductions. Posting the same reply in two places
is also not sufficient and may be treated as a form of academic misconduct.
