1. Give an example of classical conditioning in your life: identify the unconditioned stimulus, unconditioned response, the neutral stimulus and explain the acquisition period to the conditioned stimulus that resulted in a conditioned response.

2. Describe an example of something you learned through operant conditioning-be specific and define in your example the type of consequence involved in this learning.

3. Research has proven that electronics are distracting in a classroom. Give one example that supports that theory and give an example of how modern technology in the hands of students is helpful to learning and retaining information.

4. Make up a mnemonic for something you have learned in any of the chapters you have read in this class. You can do it as a story, poem, Â acronym, jingle, rap song, etc.

There are 3 questions here but only 2 need to be answered. The first part “Testing the Difference…” has 2 bulleted questions, but only 1 of them need to be answered. “Testing the Difference Between Two Means.” (Note: Please respond to one [1] of the following two [2] bulleted items)

• What two assumptions must be met when you are using the z test to test differences between two means? Under what circumstances can the sample standard deviations s1 and s2 be used in place of the population standard deviations σ1 and σ2 when conducting a hypothesis test to test the difference between 2 means.
• Retired workers and disabled workers both receive Social Security benefits. What information would we need to test the claim that the difference in monthly benefits between the two groups is greater than $30 at the 0.05 level of significance? Write out the null and alternative hypotheses and explain the testing procedure.

“I Have a Plan” Please respond to the following:

Per the text, planning isn’t just what you do to go into business; it’s what you have to do to stay in business. Speculate on the planning mechanism(s) that you believe would work well for your NAB business if implemented properly. Provide a rationale for your response.

Search for research articles from peer-reviewed publications in the University Library. Examples of peer-reviewed publications are listed in Table 2.1 in Chapter 2 of Methods in Behavioral Research.

Select four research articles to review. Include at least one applied research article and one basic research article. Be sure to apply the scientific method to evaluate the evidence presented in the selected articles. Use these articles as a framework for completing the questionnaire.

Write a 100- to 500-word answer to each of the following questions: Example: Note there are seven (7) bullet questions (among the three parts). Therefore, your entire answers may be a minimum of 700 words to a maximum of 3500 words. 

PART I:

• What is the purpose of each of the sections in a typical research article?
• What are the steps to critically evaluate research articles and how does the scientific method help you do this?

PART II:

• What is the importance of research in behavioral sciences?
• What is the relationship between applied research and basic research? Provide an example from your selected studies, of how each contributes to the body of knowledge.
• What ethical issues can you identify in the selected articles? How were the issues addressed or neglected?

PART III:

• Identify three possible research topics that you might want to explore further as you go through this course.
• List appropriate sources, including databases that you might use when exploring these topics.

Cite the articles using a reference page.

Format your answers according to APA guidelines.

The Statute of Frauds

Johnny needs to buy a lawn mower. His lawn is relatively modest, so he began looking for an affordable model. His friend, Mark, also needed a lawn mower. His yard was much larger, so he went to Johnny and said “Johnny, we both need a lawn mower.

Why don’t we go shopping and get the lawn mower together.” Johnny and Mark found a suitable lawn mower for $10,000. Johnny actually talked to the salesmen. And the salesmen agreed to extend Johnny a loan to purchase the lawn mower if Mark would orally contract to stand as a surety for Johnny if the payments were not made on time.

For two months, Mark uses the lawn mower more than anyone. But then Johnny fails to make payments and the salesman sues Mark under the oral contract. What will be the likely disposition of the case?
