This essay explores the narrative mode, which is perhaps the most natural style of writing for most people. The narrative form has much in common with fiction or creative writing, in that it relies on descriptive language, dialogue, and dramatic action to present its story.

Much like it is in fiction writing, the goal of the narrative form is to allow readers to feel as if they are not simply reading someone else’s story, but that they are somehow part of it.

Unlike telling a story, the narrative form has a specific piece of information to share and uses the elements we discussed in the Expository Writing chapter to deliver that message.

In this essay, you will be asked to write about a specific event in your life that will engage readers, and that will, at the same time, help them to understand the importance of the message you are relating, or, argument you are making.

Criteria

Your essay should contain the following basic features:

• A well-defined message or argument that uses the Narrative mode to demonstrate its meaning
• A clear and specific, singular event
• Vivid language that works to recreate the event, including descriptions of where the event took place, the people who were involved, and the things these people said and did
• A stated or implied reason why this event is still personally significant and why it also holds value for others

• From 500 to 750 words in length, typed in Times New Roman 12pt. font, double-spaced, with one-inch margins.

The article is relevant for my research because it provides various outlooks on just how self-esteem can affect the overall health of a person. Baumeister states that self-esteem typically falls into two different categories. Those categories as describe them are enhanced initiative and pleasant feelings. Which both is a vital part of someone’s life to gain that self-esteem that needs about his or her selves. However, the conclusion of this research that was conducted was that self-esteem had no value when it came to health behavior. For instance, a person may have high self-esteem, that does not mean it, will prevent that person from exercising unhealthy behavior such as drinking or doing drugs. This study provided evidence that self-esteem correlated to health but not the outcome of the health.

Shure wrote this book to encourage parents that it begins at toddler age when children gain self-confidence and self-esteem. In earlier childhood, it is taught deal with inevitable conflicts, and the knowledge on how they handle them is vital to them building their self-esteem as they become older. This book is very helpful for the cognitive development because it is implementing a new thought process that will help children learn how to make better decisions. The author is teaching a style of thinking that takes into consideration the different factors that go into planning and then deciding what the best, option would be.

White has witnessed what effects are involved in a child’s life when they have developed a low self-esteem for themselves first hand while traveling across America. He wrote a book called, “The Gift of Self-Esteem,” veered towards parents to establish the connectedness that self-esteem in a child has an on their lives as they grow. He develops the various ways in which parents can help their children to learn better self-esteem concepts throughout life to become more successful. Loving and caring for children in the appropriate manner will also guide them into developing their self-image while establishing the self-esteem they will need. White used a biblical perspective throughout his context on self-esteem while providing credible and researched advice on how self-esteem is appropriately managed and gained from a child to their adulthood.

Congress and the executive have checks on one another. At times we see congress influence the executive such as the impeachment hearings or the previous Russia investigations, we have seen vetoes and continued threats of government shutdowns. Are these struggles the sign of a healthy system of checks and balances or a further indication of partisan party politics more than a congress or executive that is looking out for the general population. In your opinion does either the executive branch or legislative branch have too much or too little power compared to the other?
