Module 05 Course Project – Being a Successful Team Leader

NOTE:****My Invisible Mentor is JOHN ELWAY***** Please have an idea of who he is.

For this paper assignment, you determine the characteristics of your “invisible mentor” that makes that person effective and successful at leading teams. Assess the actions, behaviors, and characteristics of your mentor associated with team leadership; do the same for yourself. Then, compare yourself to your mentor and determine how you can develop these leadership characteristics.

  • Assessment of the actions, behaviors, and characteristics your “invisible mentor” has that make him/her an effective and successful leader of teams.
  • Assessment of your own actions, behaviors, and characteristics to be an effective and successful leader of teams.
  • Comparison between the two:
    • What is similar?
    • What is different?
    • What is the best approach for you to develop these characteristics?

Proposed Research Plan

This final assignment is designed to help you conceptualize and articulate the basic characteristics of the proposed research plan you have been working on this quarter. State Statues

For your written assignment this week, first review the scenario below.

Debbie
the defendant walked onto the front patio of Larry’s house and grabbed a
laptop that was sitting on a table on the patio. Once Debbie left the
patio, she went around to Larry’s backyard. She saw a window open in the
kitchen. Debbie reached in through the window and was able to take a
digital camera sitting on a table by the window in the kitchen. As
Debbie was walking from the backyard toward the front of the house to
leave, she noticed Larry pulling into his driveway. Debbie yelled at
Larry, “stay away from me, or I will kill you!” Debbie then jumped into
the bushes next to Larry’s house to hide.

Larry saw Debbie
walking from the backyard of his house carrying something in her hands,
but he was not sure what she had. Larry was scared that someone would be
walking from his backyard. Larry called 911 and reported “a suspicious
person” in his yard. The police immediately responded and were able to
arrest Debbie who was still in the bushes next to Larry’s house. At the
time of arrest, Debbie was holding a digital camera and laptop. Larry
said he recently bought the laptop for $750. He paid $150 for the
digital camera.

Next, locate the Minnesota State statutes regarding the following crimes:
Robbery
Burglary
Theft
Assault

For your written assignment, assume you are the prosecutor. Write a paper that addresses the following questions:

  • Based on the wording of Minnesota statutes, what crimes, if any, do you feel Debbie committed?
  • What are the elements of the offense she should be charged with?
  • What are the differences between the possible crimes?
  • What is the likelihood that Debbie will be convicted of these crimes?

Please
be sure to prepare your assignment following APA citation and format
requirements. You must include proper citations to any source you relied
on for information that you include in your paper.

Identify and discuss any two issues that your found interesting in Chapter 91: Offender Reentry

Discussion response needed, needs to seem like a dialogue:

  1. Identify and discuss any two issues that your found interesting in Chapter 91: Offender Reentry

I found the effort to get rid of the criminal background question very interesting. If I were an employer I would like to know if any applicants have previous records, I would rather not chance hiring a sex offender and then having an increased risk of incidents in the work place. Doing away with the background check before the hiring seems counter productive (Travis & Crayton,2009). If the offender registries were handled by a more official organization and updated with accurate and reliable information it might solve this discrimination problem. The rate of diseases in the prison system is 4 to ten times higher in the prison system (Travis & Crayton,2009). I never realized the risk of disease being in the prison system was this high, one thing not addressed was if this was because of prison, or if it was due to the inmates actions prior to going to prison. This would be a difficult situation to try and address. Do we pay for the treatment of the diseases after the inmates get out of prison?

2.Identify and discuss any two issues that you found interesting in Chapter 72: Community Corrections.

The amount of people on probation was a very surprisingly large number, which was shocking to find upwards of 4 million on probation (Alarid, 2009). I have never taken the time to think about the individuals on probation but this is a very large number. The individuals on house arrest and such could be efficiently used for community service if there was a revamp to the community service system. I feel that community service is a very useful tool that little effort is being put into utilizing it to its fullest potential, and it seems as though there is no advancements towards the increase in community service line of rehabilitation with only 1 out of 4 individuals on probation doing any type of community service (Alarid, 2009). I think the wealthy get off too easily by paying their way out of doing community service, they should be held to the same standards as everyone else and have to do community service.

RE: SOCW6060: 2 Discussion Questions

Discussion: Reflection

Developing self-awareness starts with taking time to reflect on your own strengths and weaknesses, what distresses you, and what you find most comfortable in social work practice with your clients and colleagues. You have read about many theories and models at this point. There may have been theories and models that you were more inclined to use. Or there may have been theories and models you were not comfortable using.

The Theoretical Evaluation Self-Test (TEST) was developed by Daniel Coleman. It is a quantitative instrument that measures a therapist’s theoretical orientation. It consists of 30 close-ended statements with a 7-point Likert scale, asking the extent of agreement about “psychotherapy, the human psyche, and the therapeutic process” (Coleman, 2003, p. 74). The seven theoretical orientations that are measured are psychodynamic, biological, family systems, ecosystems, cognitive, pragmatic, and humanistic.

Coleman (2003) cautions that the TEST is not meant to give therapists a conclusive and definitive sense of their theoretical orientation. Rather, the goal is to promote self-reflection about their personal tendencies toward approaching therapy.

For this Discussion, you take the TEST to stimulate self-reflection. You will also take some time to reflect on all the different theories and models covered in this course.

To prepare: Take the TEST. There is both a web-based version, noted in the Learning Resources, and a paper version of the TEST.

Post: (Use sub-headings and post the self test)

  • After taking the TEST, post your results.
  • Explain in 2 to 3 sentence the extent to which you were surprised or not surprised by the TEST results, and explain the reasons why you were surprised or not surprised.
  • After looking back at the array of theories and models that were covered in this course, identify the top three theories or models that most appealed to you.
  • Explain in 3 to 4 sentences how your personal values, worldviews, life experiences, and/or your personality influenced your selection of the top three theories or models.
  • In this course, you were asked to select one case study to use throughout the entire course. Describe this experience—for example, the degree to which it was helpful to focus on one case, what you learned, what could perhaps be done differently.

Need Help with writing this Paper, Can someone help me?

The 20th and 21st centuries have produced many business leaders, such as corporate giants like Jack Welch of GE, Daymond John of FUBU, Steve Jobs of Apple, and Herb Kelleher of Southwest. In addition, many hip-hop moguls have risen to prominence, such as Sean Combs, aka P Diddy, of Bad Boy Records; Russell Simmons, founder of Def Jam; and Sean Carter, aka Jay Z, of Rock Nation.
Regardless of their business models and industries, organizational leaders are expected to create realistic visions for their companies and the people that they guide. However, such visions often result in vastly different leadership styles. Therefore, experts have concluded that there is no one best leadership style geared towards guiding employees and companies to accomplishing organizational goals.
Using the Internet and Strayer databases, research your favorite senior executive (CEO, CFO, COO, Director, President, Founder, etc.) from any organization that has made a strong impact on his or her industry (fashion, music, food, banking, technology, automotive, etc.).
Write a six to eight (6-8) page paper in which you:
1.Describe the overall leadership style(s) of your chosen senior executive. 2.Analyze the organizational structure and culture of the company your chosen executive has led, or is currently leading, and determine the company’s approach to human capital management and employee development. Next, explain whether or not you believe your chosen senior executive’s leadership approach has enhanced workplace productivity and the shared vision of the organization. Provide one to two (1-2) examples of your chosen senior executive’s actions to support your response.3.Evaluate the effectiveness of your selected leader’s performance, based on his or her ethical conduct and effective communication. Next, determine whether the chosen leader was successful in motivating and empowering his or her employees and gaining customer loyalty. 4.Determine three (3) best practices that other organizational leaders can use in order to motivate employees and transform their company, based on practices that you believe made your chosen leader successful at his or her company and within his or her industry. Support your rationale with an explanation of the potential benefits that other business leaders may reap from your chosen best practices.5.Use at least five (5) quality references. Note: Wikipedia and similar Websites do not qualify as academic resources.
Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:
•Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references must follow APA or school-specific format. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.•Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required assignment page length.
The specific course learning outcomes associated with this assignment are:
•Explain the multiple aspects of the managerial planning process and the application of various business- and corporate-level strategies.•Analyze the importance of ethical behavior to an organization’s culture and the new ethical dilemmas created by globalization.
•Determine viable organizational structures by addressing the key considerations in organizational structure, applying the process of division of labor, and adapting basic structural formats.
•Explain the principal theories of leadership and motivation, and describe the fundamental considerations in managing and motivating individual and group behavior.
