    • In your write-up, make sure to highlight 3 vocabulary words from our book that we’ve learned so far, and explain their meaning within the context of the article.
    • vocab 1: Free Trade: The absence
of barriers to the free flow of goods and services between countries.
    • vocab 2: New Trade Theory: The observed
pattern of trade in the world economy may be due in part to the ability of
firms in a given market to capture first-mover advantages

Critical Writing Analysis (Jackson Pollock)

Instructions:
1. Biographical sketch – This portion of the writing assignment should be comprised of biographical information on an artist of your choice from the textbook.

* Length: At least 3 complete paragraphs (no less than 500 words)
* Suggestions for material: Name, date and place of birth and death, family information, lifetime accomplishments, famous art pieces, effects or impact on society, historical
significance.

2. Provide a bibliographical reference in the correct MLA style with at least 3 sources. Online sources are ok, but at least one source must not be digital. If you fail to provide a bibliography – you will receive an automatic deduction of 15 points. Do not forget to include this!

3. Critical Analysis – This portion of the writing assignment should be your own opinion of a work of art by the same artist you chose for the biographical essay. You must base your opinion on the principles of design and the elements of art – using this specific vocabulary throughout. Do not simply describe the work or state whether or not you “like” the work. (no less than 500 words)

English Final Paper

For your final assignment, you will write a 3 to 4 page reflection of your research/poster project. You can write about the choices you made, the experience of creating the project, the experience of presenting the project, and/or things you might have done differently.

Important! The most successful papers will discuss not only the process of creating the project (the how), but also the explanatory potential of your approach and its limits (the why).

For example, during the conference, I listened to a group talking with someone about their poster. The guy started talking about how the tool the group used was able to show things to him that he otherwise might not have thought about at all.

So what did you approach reveal that might have otherwise remained hidden? And what were its limits? Were there questions that your tool/approach perhaps couldn’t answer.

Assignment 2.1: Discussion — Sustainable Competitive Advantage

Every business and organization has products, services, and/or ideas that continually evolve both to keep up with the competition and to supply a continual income (the product lifecycle). Innovation is difficult to maintain. In a recent study published in Forbes (Upbin, 2011), the author found that of hundreds of companies analyzed in 1995, only fourteen remained in the top 75 of current innovators in 2010. The majority of these innovative companies only sustained innovation for a decade or more, and then turned their focus to the innovation that propelled them forward rather than sustaining the innovation. With the loss of innovative focus, companies entropy and decay.

In this assignment, you will participate in a discussion on today’s increasingly technologically advanced marketplace and the role of the sustainability of a competitive advantage.

Procedure

  1. Consider the following statement:
    1. With the realities of today’s rapid technological innovation and the realities of the current economy, competitive advantage only exist for a short time and are quickly outdated.
  2. Determine if you agree or disagree with this statement.

Class discussion week 3

Access the Barnhill (2014) DSM-5 Clinical Cases e-book in the DSM-5 library, and select one of the case studies. The case study you select must be one in which the client could be assessed using one or more of the assessment instruments discussed in this week’s reading.

For this discussion, you will take on the role of a psychology intern at a mental health facility working under the supervision of a licensed psychologist. In this role, you will conduct a psychological evaluation of a client referred to you for a second opinion using valid psychological tests and assessment procedures. The case study you select from the textbook will serve as the information provided to you from the professional who previously evaluated the client (e.g., the psychologist or psychiatrist).

In your initial post, begin with a paragraph briefly summarizing the main information about the case you selected. Evaluate and describe the ethical and professional interpretation of any assessment information presented in the case study. Devise an assessment battery for a psychological evaluation that minimally includes a clinical interview, mental status exam, intellectual assessment, observations of the client, and at least two assessment instruments specific to the diagnostic impressions (e.g., attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, autism spectrum disorder, etc.). The assessment battery must include at least one approach to assessing your client which is different from the assessments previously administered. The assessment plan must be presented as a list of recommended psychological tests and assessment procedures with a brief sentence explaining the purpose of each test or procedure. Following the list of tests and assessment procedures you recommend for your client, compare the assessment instruments that fall within the same categories (e.g., intellectual or achievement), and debate the pros of cons of the instruments and procedures you selected versus the instruments and procedures reported by the referring professional.

Assignment Requirements

Remember you must have a cover page. On the cover page you will have a header that you create in Word. In the header you will have a Running Head and a Page Number that will appear on each page of your paper.

Page two will contain your Abstract.

  • An effective abstract uses one or more well-developed paragraphs, which are unified, coherent, concise, and able to stand alone.
  • Uses an introduction-body-conclusion structure in which the parts of the report are discussed in order: purpose, findings, conclusions
  • Provides logical connections between material included
  • Adds no new information but simply summarizes the report

(Driscoll, 2010)

Abstract

Begin a new page. Your abstract page should already include the page header (described above). On the first line of the abstract page, center the word “Abstract” (no bold, formatting, italics, underlining, or quotation marks).

Beginning with the next line, write a concise summary of the key points of your research. (Do not indent.) Your abstract should contain at least your research topic, research questions, participants, methods, results, data analysis, and conclusions. You may also include possible implications of your research and future work you see connected with your findings. Your abstract should be a single paragraph double-spaced. Your abstract should be between 150 and 250 words.

You may also want to list keywords from your paper in your abstract. To do this, indent as you would if you were starting a new paragraph, type Keywords: (italicized), and then list your keywords. Listing your keywords will help researchers find your work in databases.

Page three will being with an opening paragraph that outlines the key points that will be presented in the paper. You want to tell the reader what you are going to tell them.

Introduction

The introduction is the broad beginning of the paper that answers three important questions:

  1. What is this?
  2. Why am I reading it?
  3. What do you want me to do?

You should answer these questions by doing the following:

  1. Set the context – provide general information about the main idea, explaining the situation so the reader can make sense of the topic and the claims you make and support
  2. State why the main idea is important – tell the reader why s/he should care and keep reading. Your goal is to create a compelling, clear, and convincing essay people will want to read and act upon
  3. State your thesis/claim – compose a sentence or two stating the position you will support with logos (sound reasoning: induction, deduction), pathos (balanced emotional appeal), and ethos (author credibility).

Answer one Discussion Question and respond to 2 other students answers

Answer the following question:

1. How do you plan to use financial statements in your projected financial statement analysis? Provide rationale for your approach. – 150+ words and at least one reference.

2. Respond to this answer – At least 100+ words and at least one reference: Financial statements flesh-out a profile and track record as to how a business is functioning across the board. With it, an analysis can be made which will provide a basis for strategic decisions that need to be made to eliminate waste, increase profitability, and insure the continued success of the business in the community in which it is operating. In any decisions the cash flow is of importance for potential investments or if the company is in the red, indicate a need to secure a loan or other financing to keep the business afloat until it is profiting as expected. A balance sheet further helps in targeting problems and solutions as well as projecting the company’s performance in the foreseeable future. Stakeholders need to be apprised of the financial health of the company on a regular basis since they are invested in the outcome.

3. Respond to this answer – At least 100+ words and at least one reference: Per David & David (2017) projected financial statement analysis is a technique that allows an organization to examine the expected results of strategies being implemented. Having a projected income statement and balance sheet allows an organization to compute projected financial ratios under various scenarios. When compared to prior years and to industry averages, financial ratios provide valuable insights into the feasibility of various strategy-implementation approaches.
