Peplau nursing theory

This week you will create a two-part Power Point to discuss the following:

Part one:

Peplau was the first nursing theorist to identify the nurse–patient relationship as being central to all nursing care. Peplau valued knowledge, believing that the nurse must possess extensive knowledge about the potential problems that emerge during a nurse–patient interaction. Peplau’s theoretical work on the nurse–patient relationship continues to be essential to nursing practice.

  • Describe the phases of the Nurse-Patient relationship as defined by Peplau. Align your presentation regarding the use of Peplau’s theory with a current practice example.

Part two:

Provide a discussion of Orem’s Self-Care Deficit Theory. Identify and explain the three related parts? Identify a current nursing practice example where Orem’s theory would be relevant. Use at least one evidenced-based research article to support your practice example. The PowerPoint should include at least 3 outside references and the textbook. It should include title and reference slides and be 14-20 slides.

Discussion Quesiton

Background: America’s Age of Imperialism was relatively short-lived, and somewhat anomalous in terms of overall US history. For a few brief years in the 1890s, the US aggressively pursued overseas colonies, holding on to those colonies even in the face of indigenous resistance and, unlike its handling of continental territories, offering the new colonies no pathway toward equal statehood and citizenship. The Filipino Insurrection of 1899 to 1902 provides a particularly unsettling episode in terms of how Americans generally like to remember their past. Having driven the Spanish out of the Philippines, the US ignored the Filipinos’ demand for independence, for which they had been fighting against the Spanish for several years, and instead took possession of the islands, treating the Filipinos as colonial subjects. For several years, Americans and Filipinos fought over the destiny of the Philippines in a brutal conflict which cost the lives of hundreds of thousands—perhaps even more than a million—Filipino civilians.

American Imperialism combined the expansionist ideology that propelled Americans from the Atlantic to the Pacific Oceans with a desire to become a world power as well as the need for new markets and raw materials to feed the growing industrial base. Inspired by Alfred Thayer Mahan’s concept of sea power, Americans began to look outside their borders for the means to grow their global political influence. Fueled by the technological innovations and cheap labor of the Industrial Revolution, American industry looked abroad for new markets and access to natural resources. Unlike in previous periods, the United States pursued territorial expansion through the acquisition of imperial possessions with no intention of offering a path to statehood. An early and vociferous proponent of American Imperialism, Theodore Roosevelt aggressively and effectively promoted the cause through initiatives like the construction of the Panama Canal and the demonstration of American military power embodied by the Great White Fleet. With the articulation of the Roosevelt Corollary to the Monroe Doctrine, Roosevelt claimed the US right to keep European powers out of Latin America through the use of military force.

Drawing from material in the textbook and the video below, explain how American foreign policy generally grew more interventionist and aggressive from the 1890s into the twentieth century, identifying key moments in that development. Then, examine the specifics of the Filipino Insurrection, explaining how the conflict was perceived in the United States. Using at least three primary sources—articles written during the conflict—summarize the arguments which Americans of the time made for and against the colonization of the Philippines. Also, review one scholarly secondary article about the insurrection. Summarize its contents and explain how its depiction of the insurrection compares with what you read in the primary sources.

Instructions: After reviewing your Instructor’s Guidance and completing the weekly reading assignments (including those in the resource section below), please post a substantive discussion post of at least 200 words that analyzes American Imperialism in either the Philippines or Latin America, using the following questions as the basis of your analysis:

  • How did American foreign policy become more interventionist (aggressive) from the 1890s into the twentieth century?
  • What issues led to the Filipino Insurrection? How was this conflict perceived in the United States?
  • What arguments did Americans use to justify their colonization of the Philippines? What arguments were used against colonization?
  • Why did the U.S. want to build a canal across Central America? How did the U.S. eventually accomplish this?
  • What is the Roosevelt Corollary to the Monroe Doctrine, and how was it used to justify imperialism?
  • In your opinion, which branch of the service, the Army or the Navy was more influential in this period of imperialism? Why?

Your initial post should be at least 200 words in length. Support your claims with examples from the required material(s) and properly cite any references. You may use additional scholarly sources to support your points if you choose.

Case Study Assignment

While volunteering at a local orthopedic center, you happen to overhear a doctor teaching his students about injuries. In an anecdote, the doctor describes scenario of an observation of a Patient Y’s knee. Patient Y suffered a knee accident a few years ago, and had to be transported at that time on a stretcher due to great pain. He is now very cautious and wants to take all precautions so as to avoid future arthritis, surgeries and possible total knee replacement. Patient Y is presently not on any medication, and healthy in all other ways. When the injury occurred a few years ago, an MRI indicated a partially torn ACL, which through physical therapy, and other self-healing procedures got better. Presently, because he is experiencing symptom of an unstable knee, he cannot run; also, he often feels some discomfort when he swims a lot.

Questions 1-3

1. Describe the two major types of ligaments, collateral and cruciate, in the knee, and explain the

function(s) of each.

2. In a few sentences, explain why you think Patient Y experiences the pain he experiences when

he swims a lot.

3. Why is muscle tone the most important stabilizing factor for most joints?

Questions 4-5

Two days after returning from a weekend hunting trip, Maggie notices three sting-like piercings on her lower left leg. Because she has been on such hunting adventures for many years of her life, and is used to bites from different insects, arachnids etc, she ignores the marks. After being back for almost two weeks, she experiences mild joint pain and difficulty remembering things, but hesitates to go to a hospital. On the 27th day after her return, she wakes up at night with a severe headache and neck stiffness; while she is almost about to turn off the bathroom light and return to bed, she notices a bull’s-eye looking rash, on the superior portion of the back of her shoulder, as she walks past the mirrors.

4. What might be her diagnosis?

5. What treatment is required to relieve her symptoms?

Strategic Plan, Part 1: Environmental Scan

You will perform an environmental scan for your target company.

Choose an organization according to the following:

  • Current employer
  • Most recent or former employer
  • Place of business that you have patronized or have been familiar with over a long period of time.
    • Avoid choosing an organization that is so large that historical data would be difficult to apply. Firms in the Russell 2000® index may fit well, whereas firms in the Dow 30 Industrial index probably do not.
  • The organization can be a start-up that you or a significant other may create in the future. For a start-up, focus on an entrepreneurial idea that is of substantive interest, so this project leaves you with a product you may leverage in the future.

Write a 1,050-word minimum environmental analysis in which you include the following:

  • Determine how to create value and sustain competitive advantage using the environmental scanning strategy.
  • Evaluate the company’s external environment.
  • Assess the company’s general environment.
  • Evaluate the organization’s industry operating environment.

Format your paper according to APA guidelines.

Presentations in power point no more then 5 min

The results of the midterm elections will have a positive impact on healthcare system the focus on the positive impact on the patients

For example to build the power point:

Without debate, healthcare delivery system and access to it is one of the most important issues affecting electors in the United States. Because it directly affects citizens’ decision and those who are interested in improving the healthcare delivery system and having high-quality services, and it is not different from the impact of creating more jobs, education or Tax issues. However, one of the areas that will be affected is the Affordable Care Act or Obama healthcare.

In 2017, the Congress which is controlled by Republicans tried to cancel the Affordable Care Act and replace it with universal health care. However, it did not happend.

So, After the mid-term elections, the outcome puts Democrats in control of the House, one of the decision – making in the USA. Having won this increases their chances of being in charge of mistake, and they will move from defending to improve and prove the success of ACA.

.

They will create a balance in political control and will support the current affordable healthcare system which was signed by Obama.

So, the keeping of the current system is the closest option, and it is going be helpful to consumers because the most important step in developing medical services is the stability of the healthcare system. All politicals will work to develop this system, which will positively affect the American citizen. Also, low-income individuals, people will be in a position to access health care coverage as they have ACA.

In conclusion, the healthcare sector is a sensitive sector which affects the lives of the citizen completely, so it must be far away from the politicians who have other opinions that may harm the people.

Academic performance Latino middle school

You will play the role of the Assistant Principal at Mytown Middle School in the state of Florida. You are conducting an in-depth research project to determine why your school’s Latino students are among the lowest scoring and to make recommendations for improvement. Your research project will be published for the school and community to read. You have a strong belief that the skills of school leadership, including the leadership of teachers, can make a difference. Gather scholarly articles to support your ideas and write a scholarly research paper as your project.

Student Response to Eric Gamboa, HRMN 495 assignment help

Please respond to this student week 1 dq 5 post:

5    Take the self-assessment at the end of module one and
share which one question/answer highlighted a point that was most
compelling to you. Provide your rationale for your answer.

The most compelling to me was question #5. The question reads:
What are some of the questions HR professionals should ask to function
strategically and become business partners and leaders?

This question highlight some of the main challenges faced by HR
professionals today. In many organizations, transactional HR is still a
core component of what HR executes. The top level of the HR department
however is then asked to also provide a strategic vision while also
keeping a focus on the transactional HR practices. With these dual
challenging roles, many HR leaders’ attention and time will inevitably
be dedicated to the transactional role. This will then steal away
precious focus, energy, and time away from the strategic HR role. With
such little time, HR leaders must then maximize their time and efforts.
They must ask the questions that will help them identify what HR needs
to do to achieve the strategic outcomes needed by the organization. Some
of those questions are:

How are we contributing to the organization’s overall growth and effectiveness?

Are we doing the right things?

Do we have the right competencies for now and in the future?

How do we know?

The truth is that the questions needing to be asked and
answered are endless. This question to be highlights all of the
importance of transforming to a fully strategic role and separating from
the administrative, transactional work. A formal HR executive position
that focuses on HR strategy is required to manage the complexity of HR
strategic role.

Thanks for reading,

Eric Gamboa

Compare and Contrast Two Paintings

The picture at the bottom taken in a museum is the painting I am using from the art show it is called “Boudreaux in a Barrel”by George Rodrigue and compare and contrast it with a painting By Claude Lorrain called “Pastoral Landscape” that is also shown at the bottom.

  • Select ONE George Rodrigue painting from the art show and compare and contrast it with ONE historical landscape painting discussed in class (for example, Nicolas Poussin, Claude Lorrain, Annibale Carracci, Jacob van Ruisdael, Aelbert Cuyp, Albrecht Dürer, Pieter Bruegel, John Constable, Caspar David Friedrich, Claude Monet, Paul Cézanne, George Braque, Georgia O’Keeffe).
  • The essay should:
    • Include information about the artists, their lives, geographic origins and inspirations
    • Identify technique (usually: oil on canvas), title, date, dimensions
    • Engage visual information provided by the work of art itself: Describe what you see and interpret this visual information.
    • Point out the historical context and inherent aesthetic qualities of the work. Ask yourself questions such as this: How is an Italianate or a Dutch landscape different from a Louisiana landscape? How does a seventeenth-century landscape differ from a twentieth-century landscape? What choices did artists make to stress geographic and cultural specificities of landscapes?
    • What motivated the artists to portray the landscapes the way they did? How are the taste of the time when the artists lived and the historical context of each work reflected in the rendering?
    • Write in clear and grammatically correct English. Only write full sentences.
  • Each paper should be 2 pages long(not counting cover page), double spaced and with standard margins. Possible illustrations do not count toward the two-page requirement.

Write a blog at least 300 words

Watch part or all of the CBC documentary “Ice Bridge” about the Solutrean hypothesis (see links below), which proposes that Native Americans arrived on the east coast from Europe via a maritime route across the Atlantic Ocean, and look at the links to online posts reflecting the concerns of some in the archaeological community. Given the limited scientific evidence in support of this theory, do you agree that it was “extremely irresponsible” to promote it given that if feeds white nationalist agendas? Or do agree with the film makers that they can’t control, or have a responsibility to manage, how these ideas in the film are used? If you were a documentary film maker, how would you have handled this situation differently?
