Critique Guidelines

Choose
one of the previous plays and in the paper you need to cover ALL the
following areas: acting, directing, design (set, light, costume, sound,
hair and makeup). With all of these areas, talk about what you found was
effective and ineffective. Who stood out to you and why? What was
effective or ineffective about them? What about the show was a whole?
What was the message of the show? What themes did you find in the show?
THIS IS NOT A PLOT SUMMARY. I do not need or want you to just talk about
the plot or give me a play-by-play of the show. I saw the show as well.
You can touch on the plot, but I am much more interested in your
opinion of the show (and all its various aspects). Also, you cannot just
refer to someone by their character name or their title (director,
designer, etc.). You are expected to give credit to the actor, director
or designer by using their name, which must be spelled correctly (or at
least how it was spelled in the program). You will LOSE POINTS if you do
not do so. You will also lose points if you do not talk about the
acting, the design AND the direction!! PLEASE BE AWARE –
The designers are listed at the TOP of the program, and will say
something like “Light Designer … Matt Schleicher”, etc. Do NOT list the
Design Advisor or Crew Members. These people did NOT design the show,
and you will have points deducted from your paper for incorrectly
listing this information. In your paper, don’t forget YOUR reaction and
to the performance itself. THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART! How do you
react to this play? How does the message of the play affect you
individually? Discuss directorial choices, design choices, acting
choices … anything that you had a reaction to. Be as specific as you can
be, and use specific examples from the performance to illustrate your
point. You don’t have to love the play or even like it, but you need to
be able to support your arguments. So just saying “I loved this play” or
“I hated it” or “it was all right” won’t cut it – tell me WHY you are
having the reactions you are having. Each paper will be 700-1200 words
long, MAXIMUM of 1200 words. This paper is not a just plot summary or a
book report. Plot is very important, but it is only one of the many
areas you need to discuss. I want to hear YOUR reactions to this
performance.

If you do not give credit to the designers by name,
you will automatically have TEN POINTS deducted from your grade.
Mentioning only some of the designers but not all when then incur a
partial deduction. If you do not give credit to the director by name,
you will automatically have EIGHT POINTS deducted from your grade. If
you do not give credit to the actors by name, you will automatically
have FIFTEEN POINTS deducted from your grade.

NOTE:
This does NOT MEAN that you have to talk about EVERY SINGLE ACTOR in
the show. Some of the shows have 30 actors – you do not need to talk
about them all.

You have been selected to open
two subsidiaries of organization XYZ. The headquarters of the
organization is in the KSA. The organization is dedicated to the
production of mobile devices. One of these new subsidiaries will be
located in Mexico and the other one will be located in Denmark.

As you can see in the image
below, which is from Hofstede’s Cultural Dimension Theory, there are
differences and similarities among the countries. Leaders should attempt
to understand these differences to create effective organizational
strategies. Specifically, these cultural dimensions can help leaders
determine business approaches, how to address negotiations, and can aid
in creating strong management and leadership styles.

In additional to Hofstede’s
Cultural Dimension Theory, the GLOBE research has identified six global
leadership behaviors that are considered important in different
cultures. These leadership behaviors are as follows:

• Charismatic/ Value-Based
• Team-Oriented
• Participative
• Humane-Oriented
• Autonomous
• Self-Protective

Now, thinking about the above information:

1. Based
   on Hofstede’s cultural dimensions, briefly describe the similarities
   and differences between the dimensions in Denmark, the KSA, and Mexico.
2. Analyze
   how the cultural dimensions of the three countries (i.e., Denmark, the
   KSA, and Mexico) impact leadership styles, leadership behaviors, and the
   decision-making process of leaders. What factors most greatly impact
   leadership qualities?
3. Explain
   which type of leadership behaviors, based on the GLOBE research, should
   be understood and how these leadership behaviors may impact the
   different cultures (Mexico and Denmark).
4. Explain why it is important for leaders to understand cultural differences before doing business in other countries.

Your well-written paper should meet the following requirements:

• Be
  4-5 pages in length (double-spaced), which does not include the title
  and reference pages, which are never a part of the content minimum
  requirements.
• APA style guidelines.
• Support
  your submission with course material concepts, principles, and theories
  from the textbook and at least three current, scholarly, peer-reviewed
  journal articles. Current articles are those published in the last five
  years.

Assignment Directions

Discussion: Mr. Smith brings his 4-year-old to your office with chief complaints of right ear pain, sneezing, mild cough, and low-grade fever of 100 degrees for the last 72 hours. Today, the child is alert, cooperative, and well hydrated. You note a mildly erythemic throat with no exudate, both ears mild pink tympanic membrane with good movement, lungs clear. You diagnose an acute upper respiratory infection, probably viral in nature. Mr. Smith is states that the family is planning a trip out of town starting tomorrow and would like an antibiotic just in case.

Create a communication plan for Mr. Smith and/or families for both prescriptive and non-prescriptive drug therapies. Describe what you would tell Mr. Smith and the child. Provide resources that Mr. Smith could access which would provide information concerning your decision.

Strategic planning offers many benefits for organizations. Therefore, when creating an organization, it is important to not only consider its purpose and mission, but also the strategic plan for fulfilling that purpose. For this Discussion, you consider your vision for a non-profit or government organization and reflect on how strategic planning might benefit the organization.

choose ONE film that is a known motion picture that you enjoy and deals with an aspect(s) of Multicultural issues. The film can be a current/recent film or a film that is from a different era of the last 60-70 years. It can be a Drama, Tragedy, Historical Narrative, or a Comedy if the comedy that looks to make a point and comment about culture and society.

This film should have something to say about societal, cultural, political, racial, religious or relational issues that we may be dealing with today or have dealt with as a nation. The thrust and emphasis of the story for your film should surround a topic that we have been wrestling with so far in this course. Issues may include African American issues, education, Asian American issues, poverty, immigration, racial history in America, assimilation, films that deal with the rise and individuals of the LGBTQ movement or films that deal with social change, political change, ethnic or racial problems, historical looks at our past and the wrongs we may have done and what we learn now. Choose a film YOU want to watch and can be passionate about.

As your watching the film, answer the questions below to the best of your ability.
