Scholarly Articles Response 1, writing homework help

As you reply, attempt to take the conversation further by examining their claims or arguments in more depth by agreeing/disagreeing/adding to their post in 50 words or more.

The topic I chose to research was the benefits of red wine. I used an article on prevention.com and learned that red wine is good for many things such as; lowering cholesterol and can help with heart problems. For my scholarly resource, I read an article by Lindsey Higgins and Erica Llanos called, “A healthy indulgence? Wine consumer and the health benefits of red wine”. I found the information in both articles to be similar in context because they both talked about he health aspect of things.

One specific similarity was that They both mentioned that red wine is good for your heart and cholesterol.

Based off what I learned, a scholarly source is most important when writing a research paper and or writing an academic assignment.

Using a popular source like a news paper might be more useful when you want to form an opinion on something and are not just trying to state facts. It can also be used when you want to gather other people’s opinions on certain topics.

Some insights I learned about using scholarly sources in an academic is the they are much more reliable. If you are writing a research paper and want to make sure the facts are right, using a scholarly source is easier and more accurate. The write is usually unbiased because he is just staying facts.

Stereotyping, Prejudice, and Discrimination

Stereotypes are beliefs about the typical characteristics of members of a group. Prejudice is the evaluation of a group or of an individual based on membership in a group. Prejudice commonly is based on race or ethnicity, but also may be based on socioeconomic status, religious beliefs, weight or physical appearance, sexual orientation, age, disability, and/or other such characteristics. Discrimination is the behavioral component of prejudice, typically demonstrated by negative behavior toward a person based on prejudicial attitudes. Together, these three concepts in social psychology result in highly destructive beliefs, behaviors, and interactions about, toward, and with others. If discrimination is to be reduced in society, it is essential to understand where prejudice comes from, how it is sustained, and how it can be reduced.

To prepare:

  • Review Chapter 13 in your course text, Social Psychology, focusing on how people learn prejudice, common motives for prejudice, and the various theories of prejudice.
  • Select a twentieth- or twenty-first-century example of prejudice against a group in which you are not a member. For your example, think about the stereotype that leads to the prejudice and the resulting negative behaviors (discrimination). In other words, how does the prejudice depicted in your example impact individuals and society? How can the prejudice be reduced?

By Day 3

Provide an explanation of one twentieth- or twenty-first-century example of prejudice against a specific group and identify associated stereotypes and discriminatory behaviors. You should not be a member of the group and you should not actively oppose the group in your Discussion. Explain an effect of this prejudice on individuals or society. Use specific examples. Then, apply elements of theory from your readings to explain a cause of this specific prejudice and to recommend a means of reducing this specific prejudice, either at the individual or societal level.

Please make use of the textbook and the provided resources. Thank you.

Unit 2: Lean Systems – Discussion

Lean Systems

The advent of new technologies (the Internet, computerization, etc.) and the impact of globalization (products not only available from every country but being developed in multiple countries) has increased not just the demand for goods and services but also has increased customer requirements and expectations. As such, organizations must be constantly changing to be as economically competitive as possible. This means doing more with less as the organization becomes as “lean” as possible (no fat).

The operations manager must be aware of how and why lean systems are necessary.

To answer the Discussion questions you will need to do additional research using the virtual library and/or Internet.

In order for an organization to do more with less they must examine all facets of the production or service process. To that end address the questions below:

  1. How does just-in-time (JIT) inventory control help organizations become leaner?
  2. Where does the information on waste (waste in raw materials, waste in process and flow, etc.) come from?
  3. Should line employees be involved in making recommendations to improve lean production and processes or should this decision making be left only to management?

THIS IS NOT A PROJECT.

THIS IS A DISCUSSION POST MIN/MAX 500 WORDS WITH APA STYLE CITED WORK.

Audit Ethics, Plan and Risk

Primary Task Response: Within the Discussion Board area, write 300–400 words that respond to the following questions with your thoughts, ideas, and comments. This will be the foundation for future discussions by your classmates. Be substantive and clear, and use examples to reinforce your ideas.

Knowing that the Bovar Company’s audit will include the inventory cycle, you want to plan for the audit by setting the audit objectives. For this assignment, you will write and submit a document of 300–400 words that sets specific audit objectives that will be followed during the audit to meet each of the following management assertions:

  • Existence
  • Completeness
  • Accuracy or Valuation
  • Rights and Obligations
  • Presentation and Disclosure

Present these objectives to the members of your team for their feedback by attaching the document to the Discussion Board.
