Assignment 2: Foreign Currency Risk

Albert, CEO of XYZ, Inc., desires to expand the company’s sales through exports to three (3) foreign subsidiaries. Albert knows that the target subsidiaries are located in countries that require transactions to be denominated in the local currencies. Albert has researched foreign currency risk and knows that there is accounting exposure in accounting statements, operating exposure in future cash flows, and transaction exposure in outstanding obligations. Albert does not understand how these risks apply to XYZ, Inc. under his proposal or if there are any mitigating risk strategies available. Albert requests you, the head of the Risk Management division, to prepare a report that he can present to the Board of Directors on the potential foreign currency risk if XYZ, Inc. expands sales into these markets. XYZ, Inc.’s reporting currency is the U.S. dollar and the subsidiaries would purchase the merchandise as inventory items.

Note: You may create and / or make all necessary assumptions needed for the completion of this assignment.

Write a three to five (3-5) page paper in which you:

  1. Specify accounting exposure, operating exposure, and transaction exposure. Determine the main financial statement effects of each type of exposure if XYZ, Inc. expands as proposed.
  2. Determine two (2) types of hedges regarding foreign exchange risk, in general, and recommend the most advantageous risk mitigation strategy for XYZ, Inc. Provide support for your rationale. Note: Refer to Chapter 9 of the textbook for more information on corporate strategies regarding hedging foreign exchange risk.
  3. Determine the main accounting assumptions underlying each currently used method (e.g., current rate method and temporal method). Determine the fundamental differences in balance sheet exposure from the application of each method.
  4. Suggest the translation method that XYZ, Inc. should use in order to minimize balance sheet exposure. Provide support for you choice.
  5. Compare the U.S. GAAP approach to the IFRS approach of translating foreign currency financial statements. Determine the main similarities and differences between the two (2) methods of translation. Assuming one (1) of the subsidiaries of XYZ, Inc. is located in a highly inflationary country, determine the appropriate translation method under FASB and provide the theoretical justification for your response.
  6. Use at least two (2) quality academic resources in this assignment. Note: Wikipedia and other Websites do not qualify as academic resources.

Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:

  • Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references must follow APA or school-specific format. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.

Community Counseling Resources

Application: Community Counseling Resources

George Albee, commonly known as the “father” of prevention, stated in 1958 that the mental health profession will never be able to train enough mental health professionals to adequately treat those individuals with mental health problems. The solution, he suggested, is to target mental health services toward the prevention of mental health difficulties (Albee, 1959). The counseling profession as a whole has prevention at its historical and aspirational roots, and marriage, couple, and family counseling is no exception. In fact, marriage, couple, and family counseling possesses unique qualities that can aid in preventative interventions to families and couples across the lifespan.

As a marriage, couple, and family counselor, you will be required to be aware of and be able to evaluate the mental health services provided in your community, from treatment to primary preventative interventions. For this Assignment, select one issue from the following list: substance abuse, domestic violence, child abuse and neglect, child/adolescent drug/alcohol abuse, or depression. Identify a resource in your own community that provides primary, secondary, and tertiary interventions for the issue you selected. Then, consider any gaps that may exist in the interventions provided and how you might address them.

Reference:
Albee, G. W. (1959). Mental health manpower trends. New York: Basic Books.

The assignment (2–3 pages)

  • Analyze primary, secondary, and tertiary couple and family counseling interventions provided by community resources. Remember that “primary services” focus mainly on preventative efforts and those services geared towards early intervention. “Secondary services” can be described as those services, such as screening, assessment, and intervention in which direct care is provide for active concerns and issues. “Tertiary Care” is defined as specialized care and/or services provided to a client family upon referral, such as vocational rehabilitation, case management, and specialized aftercare.”(Ballard, n.d.)
  • Identify the issue you selected.
  • Describe the community resource you selected related to this issue, including the primary, secondary, and/or tertiary intervention(s) it provides for your community.
  • Describe any gaps that may exist in the interventions that the resource provides.
  • Explain how you might address these gaps. Be specific.

Support your Application Assignment with specific references to all resources used in its preparation. You are asked to provide a reference list for all resources, including those in the Learning Resources for this course.

Identify and diagnose a problematic organizational issue that you are aware of or have observed

Research an organization you have worked for or the one you are currently employed at.

Write a 700 to 1,050 word paper, written in the third person voice, and address the following issues:

  • Identify and diagnose a problematic organizational issue that you are aware of or have observed.
  • Describe the history of this problem, including the roles of any relevant personnel involved. Use fictitious names for individuals to maintain confidentiality.
  • Evaluate any actions that the organization has taken to resolve the situation. What could the organization have done to prevent the situation, and what more can the company do to ensure that this type of situation will not occur in the future?
  • Using Table 1.2 “Types of Organizational Change” in Organizational Change, identify and explain the type of organizational change necessary to remedy the issue.
  • Determine an organizational framework that can be used to help direct change management processes. Refer to any of the processes or models in Chapters 2 and 3 of your text, and support your choice of the process or model.
  • Include a conclusion that summarizes your research and provides a potential remedy for the issue.

Include justification for your responses by citing your Organizational Change text as well as at least one of the Week 1 Electronic Reserve Readings sources in your paper. Use other sources as appropriate. These sources must also be identified in your APA correctly formatted Reference page.

Child and Family Welfare Scenario, Human services/ethics and theories help

In this Assignment, you will use your knowledge of ethics and best practices to identify the main issue presented by the client and develop a 4-page paper. In the paper, you will create an assessment and treatment plan for your client that includes his/her main problems (including any ethical issues), a prioritization of needs, an intervention plan and potential obstacles, and a plan to evaluate progress and next steps.

Choose the path of your career interest. (Child and Family Welfare Scenario)

Use the strength-based model in your planning. Remember the importance of a social support system in helping the client become more self-reliant. As your client becomes more confident, he/she will feel more confident in accepting more responsibility for filling his or her own needs. (Many clients initially lack these skills or confidence.)

Your Assignment should reflect professional writing standards using proper tone and language. The writing and writing style should be correct, accurate, and reflect knowledge of human service theories. The paper should be a minimum of four pages, double spaced, and in APA format.

1. Create a scenario using one of the three prompts above (one page).

2. Identify the client information, including demographics (age, ethnicity, marital status if applicable), reason for referrals and the client’s main problem and needs. Include a discussion of any ethical problems and legal values, standards, and practices that might be present in these situations (one page).

3. Provide an explanation of proposed interventions/best practice solutions (intervention plan) based upon a prioritization of needs using strength-based theory and description of possible obstacles that could prevent access to services (one page).

4. Plan for evaluation of interventions (half page).

5. Plan for next session (homework) (half page

Path 1: Child and Family Welfare Scenario

For this assignment, create a child client who has lived in foster care for most of his/her life. The client was recently adopted and has struggled to adjust to the new family. Recently, an experienced foster family adopted him/her, and the client seems to be having adjustment problems. My client’s name is Joey. His parent lost custody of him because they were both drug addicts, in and out of prison. Joey was abused but one of his parents dealers at the age of 5. His horrible past has contributed to his adjustment problems. He also has difficulty trusting people. I am a Human services student. As you work on this assignment, please keep the following theme in mind:

Assessment of Client Needs

When you realize that someone in your family is ill, what do you do? Perhaps you ask the person to describe the symptoms, and you might use the internet to search for information that might help you to decide your next step. If you decide that the person’s illness is severe enough, you might call your family physician and make an appointment, even insisting on being seen immediately. You and the sick family member get in your car and drive to the office, see the doctor, and then take the prescription to the drugstore to be filled. Sound familiar?

Now, imagine this scene without access to the internet, a phone, a car, and money to pay for the doctor or medicine. This is a completely different scenario now.

Clients who seek assistance from human service professionals do so because they lack something, either financial resources or personal resources (e.g., knowledge). To provide the best service to your clients, it is important to assess and prioritize their needs with their help. As you learned in your classes, to really assist your clients, you also need to identify their strengths, abilities, and resources. Sometimes, the solution to their problems already exists in their lives. In this unit, we will synthesize the information that you learned in your courses to create assessment plans designed to create and assess appropriate interventions.

I have to rewrite the paper in the third person. I should have dropped the rubric in there, my bad!
