For this next assignment I want you to try your hand at writing from a different perspective. But not alone: I want you to jump into a significant object in your life, a photograph, painting, video of your choice and shift some of the literary elements around. The “shift options” include working with time, character, symbols(objects), or point of view. The paper needs to be 750-850 words, double-spaced, paragraphed, originally-titled, MLA format, visually and stylistically engaging (show don’t tell), grammatically clean, original and focused. There is no frame for the story; you “jump in” in 1st person point of view—you are the character, the object, etc. Use Its person pronouns— “I,” “me,” “my”! You decide where to start the story.

Time: If you choose to work with time, you might consider the following: creating a scene where you are a character, depicting what happened before or after the story/film started or ended, putting part of a character’s story in a different time period, or giving an account of the story through the eyes of a character’s descendant .

Character: A couple of options concerning character include the following: tell part of the story from the point of view of an undeveloped character. Create a new character that will give a different perspective on an existing character.

Symbols/objects: You could tell part of a story through the eyes of a pivotal symbol/object. Think about what the object symbolizes: what is its story? How does it “work” in the story, poem, film?

Point of view: By using a minor character’s point of view, you can reveal a new perspective on the same plot line. Also, by coming from an object’s point of view, you can show an “if the walls could talk” perspective.

Using a piece of art/a photograph/a video/or a significant personal object are other options. When turning in your essay, please include a link or a copy of the piece of art, photograph.

Students will use the system safety techniques taught in this course to perform a risk

assessment of a current product or process and develop a written report. The risk assessment

will include identification of hazards and recommendations for risk reduction. Grading will be

based on how completely hazards are identified and if multiple methods from this course are

used to identify hazards and assess risk. Hazards should be documented through photos or other

graphics. Each student will complete an individual report. The report will include a separate title

page that lists the course (i.e. IENG 461 System Safety I), student’s name, and report title. The

remainder of the report (not including the title page) will be at least 4 pages and 1200 words in

length. Each student should organize his/her paper in 4 sections

 Introduction – Should answer why the student chose to analyze this product or process.

Betty disagrees. She thinks crime victims should testify as
