Objective: Explain the approaches to ethics and social responsibility

MKD Transportation owns and operates a fleet of container ships and tankers that transport goods around the globe. Company executives have just been contacted by the media with a credible report that one of their ships is leaking an oily substance off the coast of Belize. If true, some of the world’s most beautiful coral reefs could be in danger. On the other hand, the captain of the ship in question has not notified the company of any problem, and cleanup could be very costly. Environmental groups and the government of Belize have demanded that the company admit responsibility and immediately begin cleanup.

1.Managers at MKD claim to exercise ethical behavior toward their employees. Describe three (3) matters this behavior might cover.

2.What might the general public begin to think about MKD’s responsibilities toward the environment? Provide one (1) example.

3.If MKD adopts an obstructionist stance, how will the company respond to this media report? Provide one (1) supporting fact.

4.If MKD adopts a defensive stance, how will the company respond to this situation? Provide one (1) supporting fact.

Financial Management Challenges and Ethics

Find at least two articles from the Ashford University Library that highlight and discuss two of the biggest challenges facing financial managers today. One of the articles should be about the challenge of maintaining ethical financial integrity and the other article should be on any other challenge that a financial manager may face (e.g., competition, foreign markets, government intervention, etc.).

Summarize your findings from the articles in a two- to three-page paper (excluding title and references pages). The paper should be formatted according to APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.. Be sure to properly cite your selected articles using APA style.

Chart It

 

During Week 1 you invented a product – this week you will create a chart showing price vs quality or two other factors that impact your product. 

 

Write a 2 page paper stating your USP – unique selling proposition. Explain market segmentation, pricing or anything else that would help position your product for success in the marketplace and include your chart on the second page. 

 

• Your Paper should be double spaced, Times New Roman with standard margins. (Remember, the chart should go on a separate page).

 

Include a cover sheet and 2-3 references.  References should be obtained through the Grantham University online library.  Only one website reference will be allowed (not Wikipedia).  Please adhere to the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA), 6th ed., 2nd printing when writing and submitting assignments and papers.
