writing help 95

Guidelines:

Use a peer-reviewed research article you understand well. Choose an article in which a lay person would be interested. You can use a research article you have already read for a class.
A peer-reviewed research article will have an abstract, introduction, procedures, results, conclusion sections and a reference section with ten or more references. The journal will have a reasonable list of reviewers.

In two pages, rewrite the research for a general, adult audience, in other words a lay person with at least a high school education. Think of someone like a parent, relative, neighbor, or English major roommate.

1. Use the tips we went over in lecture about writing science to a lay person audience.
2. Avoid jargon, use everyday vocabulary.

3. After you have written it, evaluate every word to make sure the word is not jargon, and can be easily understood by your target audience

discussion post regarding racial profiling minimum 400 words and please include references in apa format

On April 23, 2008, the United States Supreme Court, without dissent, determined in the case of Virginia v. Moore that despite unprofessional conduct on the part of the police, there was no violation of Mr. Moore’s civil rights when the police profiled him because they knew that he was driving under a suspended license. A subsequent arrest and search for the suspended driver’s license resulted in the finding of controlled substances and additional charges. Essentially, the court ruled that if the police knew a defendant was committing a motor vehicle violation, regardless of their personal bias, then they had the right to stop that person and check to see if probable cause existed to arrest him or her.

Primary Task Response: Within the Discussion Board area, write 400–600 words that respond to the following questions with your thoughts, ideas, and comments. This will be the foundation for future discussions by your classmates. Be substantive and clear, and use examples to reinforce your ideas.

  • Under what conditions do you think, if any, racial profiling should be clearly illegal? Explain your position.
  • What is your opinion about the decision that even if an officer was racially profiling, if the stop was based on a motor vehicle violation, then there is no issue?
  • Is there a legitimate reason at any stage in an investigation for racial profiling? Explain.
  • What impacts on the community do you think can proracial profiling policies have? Explain in detail.

bureaucracy in action

Reflect: Modern bureaucracies are a common source of frustration and anger. The adherence to rule-based actions found in most bureaucratic institutions can be very exasperating to those who value flexibility and adaptability. However, these bureaucracies can also promote admiration and customer satisfaction, and they can be comforting to those who value equality, justice, and fair treatment. The ability of a central government to regulate, distribute, gather, record, and interact with the public they serve is impossible without core rules of behavior, function, and purpose. The rules, processes, and procedures define each specific bureaucratic institution. Understanding how bureaucracies serve as a middle-man between the citizens and leadership will help you determine the effectiveness of political leaders in serving their citizenry.

Write: In your initial post of at least 200 words, address the following:

  • Choose one bureaucratic agency from the United States government (e.g., SEC, FDA, FBI, FEMA, FCC, EPA, etc.).
  • Research the agency in depth, and discuss the primary purpose of that agency.
  • Describe what interest groups are involved with that agency and why.
  • Evaluate the accessibility or utility of one of the agency’s websites. Is it user-friendly? Why or why not?

Costing Systems (Assignment #2)

Her accounting professor told Keisha of the three different types of costing systems that exist in organizations – job order, process costing and activity-based costing.
