Research Article Identification

  Research Article Identification

Read each of the abstracts for the articles listed below and then select one of them to be the full article that you will use for all the written assignments in this course.  The abstracts and full-text versions of the articles can be accessed through the databases in the Ashford University Library. On the Library home page, use [email protected] to search most of the databases simultaneously. The article choices are: Chambers, E., Cook, S., Thake, A., Foster, A., Shaw, S., Hutten, R., Parry, G., & Ricketts, T. (2015). If you have questions about how to search for articles, you may refer to the tutorial titled, “Finding an Article When You Have the Citation”, which is available within the Ashford University Library. In addition, the Library has 24/7 chat to assist you with reference questions.

After making your selection, read the “Methods” section within the article. Write a two- to- three page paper (excluding title and reference pages) that is formatted according to APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center, presenting the information listed below. Your paper should begin with an introduction paragraph (including a thesis statement) and end with a concluding paragraph reaffirming the thesis and summarizing the major points made in the body of the paper. All sources used in the paper (such as the chosen article and the textbook) must be cited in the body of the paper and listed as references on a separate page at the end.

The body of your paper must contain the following criteria: Identify the study by title and authors. Determine what question(s) the authors are trying to answer by doing this research. Associate the chosen study with a specific research area of psychology based on the information on research area in Chapter 1 of your course textbook. Explain your reasoning. Summarize ethical issues which were addressed in the article and analyze the ethical principles applied. Can you discern additional ethical issues that apply but were not mentioned?

Observation project

The Human Observation Project should consist of a minimum of five typed pages. Information should be provided for each section of the Observation Project Form. The project is divided into two section: • the gathering of baseline information • behavior change Be sure that the project submission adheres to the following formatting requirements: • Use double-spacing. • Use size 12 font. • Set margins to one-inch on all sides. • Be sure to include your name/course title on the first page. • Write in complete sentences, use good English grammar, and correct spelling. • Avoid personal pronouns and statements such as “I believe, I placed the coin on the floor…”, “My research proved that….” – in objective, naturalistic research your opinion is not very important, but your findings are. Your research may suggest that…, support the hypothesis…, or indicate….; but it does not necessarily prove anything. • Charts and graphs are part of an “A” paper, but are not part of the basic page count of the project. References to outside sources may also part of an A or B level paper. Information should be provided for each section as outlined below. • APA documentation style must be used when citing references in context and bibliography (if any).

Ethical Decision-Making Draft Paper

Write a 750-1,000-word paper in which you create an ethical dilemma that you could reasonably assume you might encounter in the population with which you plan to work.

Discuss what ethical boundaries are relevant in the situation and the importance of maintaining those boundaries.

Explain the ethical decision-making process. Frame the process around your dilemma when discussing each of the ethical decision-making steps that a paraprofessional must complete.

Address areas that may require collegial or supervisory consultation to resolve this dilemma.

Note: It is acceptable to get inspiration for this dilemma from the textbook if needed; you must create your own dilemma, not simply revisit one from the text.

Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. An abstract is not required.

This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.

You are required to submit this assignment to Turnitin. Please refer to the directions in the Student Success Center.
