NO PLAGIARISM DUE THURSDAY AUGUST 2, 2018

Prior to completing your initial post, read Chapter 5 and 8 of your course text and viewing Sleep Disorders. These required materials examine topics on neurotransmitter and receptor systems, anatomical structures, neurological functional pathways and their role in control of movement, consciousness and sleep, and how they correlate to selected related disorders. Choose from the following options for your initial post:

Option A: Evaluate one of the disorders of consciousness covered this week. Explain theories of etiology (causation), including the neuroanatomical structures, neurotransmitter/receptor systems, and the functional nervous system pathways involved. Include an analysis of the contribution of genetics, the environment, and lifestyle to the development and natural history of the condition. Provide information regarding diagnostic criteria and evaluate options for care interventions (both pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic). Lastly, identify the neuroanatomical structures and any neurotransmitter/receptor systems involved.

You must use a minimum of one peer-reviewed source that was published within the last five years, documented in APA style, as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.  Your post should be a minimum of 250 words. You may cite and reference your textbook, required reading and/or multimedia, but these will not fulfill the source requirement.

Option B: Evaluate one of the sleep disorders covered this week. Explain theories of etiology (causation), including the neuroanatomical structures, neurotransmitter/receptor systems, and the functional nervous system pathways involved.  Include an analysis of the contribution of genetics, environment, and lifestyle to the development and natural history of the condition. What information can you add regarding diagnostic criteria? Evaluate the options for care interventions (both pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic).

Discussion—Relativistic Thinking: A New Perspective on the World

Children and adolescents tend to engage in so-called “black and white” thinking. In other words, they tend to judge people and situations in dualistic, rather than relativistic, terms. In early adulthood, individuals begin to reason about situations using a more flexible framework that helps them to resolve contradictions between different perspectives.

Describe a situation in which you or someone you know has had to move beyond “black and white” thinking and has been able to develop a more relativistic perspective. Answer the following: What was it about the situation that challenged you or the other person to think more relativistically? How do you think people begin to respond to others differently once they begin to use relativistic thinking?

Support your arguments with research, citing sources.

Write your initial response in 150–200 words. Apply APA standards to citation of sources.

Since this is a group assignment, I only have to complete bullet 1-Summarize Kohlberg’s theory of moral development and write 400 words.

Evaluate Lawrence Kohlberg’s theory in a 1,050- to 1,400-word paper. Address the following: Summarize Kohlberg’s theory of moral development Explain three contributions that Kohlberg made to our understanding of moral development. Explain three limitations of Kohlberg’s theory. Who is Carol Gilligan and what does her research say about possible gender differences in moral reasoning?

Include at least two references from professional peer-reviewed journals.

Week 3 dq psy 635

Philosophical Differences Between Qualitative and Quantitative Paradigms and Approaches

Prior to beginning work on this discussion, read Chapter 1 in the Frost e-book, Qualitative Research Methods in Psychology, and the required journal articles for this week. Also review last week’s PSY635 Week Two Discussion Scenario (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.. In that scenario, the three instructors realized there are limits to the insights they can gain through anonymous counting of discussion posts. The instructors would like to answer two additional research questions: (a) How do their students actually feel about the intervention? and (b) How do students view the influence of the intervention on their learning inside and outside of the classroom (if applicable)?

In your initial post, compare the characteristics of appropriate research designs and recommend a qualitative research design that would facilitate answering the instructors’ additional questions. Explain the philosophical paradigm underlying the recommended approach. Evaluate the required articles for this week and describe the  assumptions the instructors might have to set aside as they enter into a qualitative research study. Be sure to identify any ethical issues that may apply to the research. Review the characteristics of the quantitative approach you described in the Week Two discussion. Explain the ways in which the quantitative approach and paradigm differs from the qualitative approach and paradigm you have recommended here.

Maslow’s needs theory can be a useful framework for describing human motivation. Unlike other theories, it emphasizes the idea that some needs take precedence over others. While it has its critics, it has been applied in many different areas. As you create your discussion post, consider the following: What are the basic principles of Maslow’s theory? How can the Hierarchy of Needs be applied to a practical situation?

By the end of this discussion, you will be able to: Describe Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs and attempt to apply it to a real world situation.

Complete the following:

After reading the material on Maslow’s theory in the textbook, you may also wish to read the following: Abraham Maslow, Personality Theories (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. (Skip the biography unless you are interested). Then do a web search for practical uses of the theory. You will find some applications in education and business. Describe in detail how the theory has been applied in the area that you researched. Does using it make sense? Why or why not? Be sure to document your statement with information from the readings and any sources that you have found.

Review paper 2

Based on your review of the most recent, relevant research findings on your chosen topic, submit a final version of your literature review paper, integrating feedback received from your instructor. Be sure to include a research/focal question, synthesis of the literature you reviewed, well-established conclusions, and points of discussion and/or future research.  Begin the review by defining the objective of the paper. Introduce the reader to your focal question. What is this question intended to address? You may state your “question” in the form of a problem if you like. Describe the topic for your literature review and why you chose this topic. Explain why you think it is important. It is also useful to tell the reader how the review is organized in your introduction section, before you the transition into the body of the review.  Organize your literature review paper by themes/theories/concepts, rather than article by article. If there is one major theme you want to highlight, state the theme. If there are three major themes or streams of thought on the topic, briefly name them—and then organize the balance of your literature review around those three streams. Think of themes, theories, concepts, lines of thought, and ideas as organizing strategies for your literature review. Your creativity in this assignment is not the content or findings but the clarity with which you organize the review and create a context for understanding the focal question. When you are done introducing the first line of thought, create a new paragraph to discuss studies which present another line of thought or opposing view. Your literature review should hit the high points of each article. You should not discuss a single article, one by one, like a grocery list. Zero in on the main theme or finding and then move on to the next theme. Remember, this is a synthesis, an integration of all the things you have learned. You are creating a discussion on paper, which in turn gives the reader a context for understanding where the scholarship has been, where it is currently, and where it likely will be heading next. Provide enough details to help the reader understand the significance of the studies you cite without “rebuilding Rome.” Be sure to evaluate the studies and offer critical comments on any shortcomings you’ve observed or that have been reported by the authors. Discuss the main findings and their implications. Given the results of your literature review, what is/are the prevailing argument(s)? What research question could you ask in order to further develop this area of study and contribute to the existing body of knowledge? Complete your review by drawing conclusions about your body of research and identifying gaps in the research which still remain to be explored, maybe even by you! Make an argument as to why your research question is important and relevant to the current work being done on your topic.

Requirements

Apply current APA standards for editorial style, expression of ideas, and formatting of the text, headings, citations, and references. Remember to use your own words to describe and evaluate the articles. Avoid quoting the material and also cite works when you are discussing someone else’s ideas. Your paper should be double-spaced and in 12 point, Times New Roman font with normal one-inch margins, written in APA style, and free of typographical and grammatical errors. It should include a title page with a running head, an abstract and a reference page. The body of the paper should be no less than 5–6 pages in length.

· Literary Analysis Essay

This week you will have the opportunity to practice the skills of finding peer-reviewed sources and integrating material from these secondary (outside) sources into your writing.

First, go to the South University Online Library and find at least one credible, peer-reviewed scholarly source that relates to your essay comparing The Odyssey and one of the following texts:

The Song of Roland

Dante’s Inferno

Ideally, these sources will support the argument that you developed in your essay for Week 4.

Next, retrieve the essay you submitted to the Week 4: draft discussion, along with the feedback about it that you received from your instructor and peers. Open a new Word document and copy and paste only the introduction of the Week 4 essay onto it. Decide whether to revise the introduction based on feedback from your instructor and/or additional ideas that you might have had since you first wrote it. Go ahead and make any revisions you consider necessary.

After that, or if you do not wish to revise the introduction, copy and paste the next paragraph to your document, review it and revise as necessary, substantiating and reinforcing (when necessary and appropriate) your argument with quotes, paraphrases, or summaries from the peer-reviewed source that you retrieved from the library. Remember that quoted material should not exceed 25% of the essay.

Repeat this process with all the essay’s paragraphs up through the conclusion. After incorporating scholarly material into your paper, it should be between 1,000 to 1,200 words long.

Now that you have copied, pasted, and revised all the essay’s paragraphs, go over the paper to determine if it is properly formatted in APA style (from start to finish) and includes in-text and reference list citations, which also should be formatted in APA style. Next, use the spell-check tool in Microsoft Word to identify misspellings. Finally, read through the essay one last time, looking for typos and glitches that spell check might have missed.

Name your document SU_ENG2002_W5_A2_LastName_FirstInitial.doc.

By the due date assigned, submit your essay in a Microsoft Word document to the Submissions Area.

Operant conditioning; 2.) Observational learning.

Congratulations!  You’ve been promoted to be a new training manager for your department.  Your first task is to train your team to use some new software.  In your psychology class, you learned about two different approaches to learning 1.) Operant conditioning; 2.) Observational learning.

In your discussion post, share which approach you would use to train your team in using the new software.  Be sure to use EITHER operant conditioning OR observational learning.  In general (just a few sentences), describe what your training would be like based on the approach.  Why do you think that approach will successfully teach your team to use the new software?
