Indian wars intensified in the period after the Civil War, and continued until the 1890s. For this assignment, you’ll be reading a little bit about one Native American group, the Nez Perce, who lived in Oregon. Like many other Native American groups, the Nez Perce were forcibly relocated from homes across the western half of the U.S. to reservations in “Indian Territory,” most of which is what is today Oklahoma.
