that National Guard units, political science homework help

Answer the following questions on the Discussion Board:

What role, if any, should the uniformed active military have in responding to acts of terror on American soil? Is this the proper role for the military?

The Bush Administration has relied heavily upon National Guard and military reserve units in protecting the homeland. It is likely—indeed probable—that National Guard units would be used in responding to future acts of terrorism. Given the strains placed upon the National Guard, recommend how the Guard’s functions could be amended or expanded in a way that complements other First Responders. If you believe that no changes are needed, explain your position.

Does it make sense for federal officials to assume control of disparate First Responder organizations in a time of crisis? Why or why not? Your response should be at least 4 paragraphs. Respond to at least three of your colleagues in each of the discussion board areas.

Literature and Problem Statement

Discussion:
Evaluating Use of Literature and Problem Statement

Researchers use scholarly literature for various purposes in their work, such as, but not limited to, establishing the need for and importance of their study or describing a theory. The problem statement is typically tied to the literature, and for this reason, these two components of research are presented together this week; this connection among research components will be a recurring theme throughout this course.

For this Discussion, you will evaluate the use of literature and problem statements in assigned journal articles in your discipline to understand what it means for a research study to be justified, grounded, and original. You will use the Use of Literature Checklist, the Problem Statement Checklist, and the Litmus Test as guides for your post.

Post a critique of the research study in which you:

  • Evaluate the authors’ use of literature using the Use of Literature Checklist as a guide
  • Evaluate the research problem using the Problem Statement Checklist as a guide
  • Explain what it means for a research study to be justified and grounded in the literature; then, explain what it means for a problem to be original using the Litmus Test as a guide

Be sure to support your Main Issue Post and Response Post with reference to the week’s Learning Resources and other scholarly evidence in APA Style.

Constructing Formulas Using Solver

This week we learn about Excel Solver in some detail. In the assignment, you get to look at a spreadsheet set up to be used with Solver, you run Solver and then you begin to make modifications before you set up your own Solver spreadsheet and run Solver.

The most common errors that I have observed with people using Solver are:

Errors in the spreadsheet (most of the time, if you make a logic error in the spreadsheet Solver will tell you there is an error and will not run)

People select the wrong objective (Min, Max, or Equal to — make sure you choose the right one for what you want)

Getting the less than or greater (< or >) than signs mixed up in the constraints

Once you get the idea of how Solver works it becomes fairly easy, however it takes a bit of trial and error at first so start this assignment early.

In part 1 of Assignment 6-1 you get to explore a spreadsheet set up for using Solver and you can look at a Solver box that has been programmed. When you download the spreadsheet click on Data in the ribbon and then select Solver and the Solver box will open. Check it out. When you go to Parts 2 and 3 you will be revising the spreadsheet and/or programming of the Solver box. For Part 4 you will be required to construct a spre

comparative-advantage-and-trade-

The assignment is to read the following two essays on comparative advantage and trade, then write a response essay on the topic.

1. The first essay is by the economist Paul Krugman, who is a columnist for the New York Times. He won the Nobel Prize in Economics in 2008 for his contributions to trade theory. The Nobel Committee explains,

“Traditional trade theory assumes that countries are different and explains why some countries export agricultural products whereas others export industrial goods. The new theory clarifies why worldwide trade is in fact dominated by countries which not only have similar conditions, but also trade in similar products – for instance, a country such as Sweden that both exports and imports cars. This kind of trade enables specialization and large-scale production, which result in lower prices and a greater diversity of commodities.”

Krugman’s essay is from a book of essays on international economics. The essay is called “Ricardo’s Difficult Idea” and discusses why he believes so few people share the consensus of professional economists on comparative advantage.

2. The second essay is titled “A Petition” by the 19th Century political economist Frederic Bastiat. The essay is sometimes also referred to as “The Candlemaker’s Petition”, and it is a satirical essay that deals with common objections to international trade.

Link to the essay: http://econlib.org/library/Bastiat/basSoph3.html#S.1, Ch.7, A Petition (you may have to copy and paste this link).

The assignment is to write a response to these essays that discusses the following questions:

1) Who was the audience for each essay? How did those audiences differ?

2) Are the arguments presented largely positive or normative? Do the authors tones differ?

3) What positive argument is each author giving in support of open trade? Do they directly address common objections?

Your response should not exceed 2000 words, and should be at least 1250 words.

question.  150 words per question please.

1) De Monticelli, R. (2000). Dante’s inferno: Phenomenology of a strange passion.

  Psychopathology, 33(4), 182-90. Retrieved from

     http://search.proquest.com/docview/233336416?accountid=87314

This
article is showing us the difference between good and evil through
Dante’s eyes. The Inferno shows us how people who are considered to be
sinners
are punished by being sentenced to hell. The writer says, “Wrath is a
two-faced passion. As just indignation it inflames the saints of
Paradise, but in its vicious degeneration it may make a raving madman
out of a man” (De Monticelli, R., 2000). To me he is
saying that there are two sides to every man, even the devil was once
an angel. It is sometimes said that if people have good in them there is
also some bad in them as well.

The three sins I chose are: Treason, Murder, and Lust

Treason,
betraying a person or ones country is wrong for any reason. This is the
sin that is closest to the pits of hell. Being as though I am
ex-military,
I am strongly against treason so I am in agreement that treason should
be the closest to the pits of hell ((Dante, White & Doré, 1948).

Murder,
to take someone’s life before the will of God is wrong and to me an
abomination. It is in the first ring of the seventh circle but I think
that it should be in the circle closest to hell. Taking someone’s life
should be the ultimate sin ((Dante, White & Doré, 1948).

Lust
being up there with greed, in my opinion. When someone wants what
another person has and will lie, cheat, and steal to get it should be a
sin.
Although it is a sin, I think it is one of the less severe sins of my
three. Lust can be something innocent but lead to something more
serious. The Trojan War was ultimately fought over Helen of Troy.
Because of her lives were lost that should not have been,
I think someone like her should be closer to the ninth circle of hell
((Dante, White & Doré, 1948).

http://search.proquest.com/docview/208422241?accountid=87314

This article written by Christoper
Kleinhenz is an analysis of Dante’s writing style that elucidates
Dante’s use of different texts, from the Bible and the Vulgate, to tie
together his work to present the larger picture of the
commedia.  He goes into further detail by explaining why and when
certain things are highlighted by phrases from the Bible or the Vulgate.

Kleinhenz has completed research on
Dante before this article.  His continued research of Dante’s works adds
to his base of knowledge on this poet.  However, Dante’s work is
translated and many words or meanings could be lost
in translation due to this.  Overall, I believe this article could
provide evidence to assist me on my discussion question.

Canto
XXVIII Sowers of dissension and scandal was the least of the three sins
chosen. Here sinners were forced to be wounded and walk in a circle
until their wounds
had healed and then they were forced to be wounded again.  The severity
of their wounds depended on the severity of their treachery.  “I surely
saw, and it still seems I see, a trunk without a head…….”  (Dantes,
Canto XXVIII, line 118)  Bad advice was
given to a king, which ended up turning a father and son against each
other.  So due to this Bertran de Born was given the worst punishment
because not only was he false in his words but he caused problems
between father and son.

In
Canto XXXIII traitors were forced to stand in a frozen lake however
there was a traitor present that had a double punishment. Archbishop
Ruggieri had double crossed
Count Ugolino; both were traitors though.  However, the Archbishop’s
sin was greater because he locked the Count in a tower with his sons
with no food or water causing the Count to eventually eat his dead
sons.  This is why the Archbishop is being gnawed on
by the Count.

In
Canto XXXIV Fraud was the worst sin in contrast to God’s love because
the betrayal of a person’s freely given trust and love was the worst sin
as shown here with,
“Judas Iscariot-/his head inside, he jerks his legs without.” (Dante,
Canto 34, Line 61) who betrayed Jesus.  Out of the three betrayers
present he was the only one who was head first in Lucifer’s mouth and
had to suffer the most for his crimes.

Thank you for you help.

Please do a paragraph about this post with this instruction .

post most have 4 or more sentences .

you also have to have a high quality post from a content perspective. This means it also needs to do more than agree with or praise a class mate. If you agree with a classmate, explain why, give an example, share what you learned in the readings, ask questions of each other, etc.

The impending nursing shortage can be problematic for the country’s economic health if it is not properly addressed. More than half of the current RN workforce’s age is 50 years and older (Snavely, 2016). The country is projected to go through a nursing shortage due to a high number of the “baby boomer” population aging and are predicted to account for a massive proportion of healthcare services.

If not addressed, the already stressful and demanding environment nurses work in will only get worse. Nurses will be expected to take on more responsibilities and could possibly make for errors due to burnout, fatigue and job dissatisfaction (Snavely, 2016). Overworked nurses can lead to poor quality patient care and negative outcomes.

The nursing shortage will have an unfavorable effect on the nation’s economic health. Hospitals with understaffed nursing units are related to readmission and unnecessary costs (Snavely, 2016). Tax dollars would have to be spent on the inadequacies of the healthcare system. The potential turnover rates of unhappy nurses could cost the hospital millions in hiring and retraining new staff.

Providing a safe and supportive work environment can help retain and attract nurses in the hospital setting and improve patient care quality. Letting nurses know that they are supported at work will help retain staff and improve employee satisfaction. Opportunities for both education and professional advancement could also help attract new recruits and keep the current staff invested in the company for a long period of time (Ball et al, 2015

Alterations of Hematology and Cardiovascular system.(Case Studies)

Case Study 1

Ms. A. is an apparently healthy 26-year-old white woman. Since the beginning of the current golf season, Ms. A has noted increased shortness of breath and low levels of energy and enthusiasm. These symptoms seem worse during her menses. Today, while playing in a golf tournament at a high, mountainous course, she became light-headed and was taken by her golfing partner to the emergency clinic. The attending physician’s notes indicated a temperature of 98 degrees F, an elevated heart rate and respiratory rate, and low blood pressure. Ms. A states, “Menorrhagia and dysmenorrheal have been a problem for 10-12 years, and I take 1,000 mg of aspirin every 3 to 4 hours for 6 days during menstruation.” During the summer months, while playing golf, she also takes aspirin to avoid “stiffness in my joints.”

Laboratory values are as follows:

Hemoglobin = 8 g/dl

Hematocrit = 32%

Erythrocyte count = 3.1 x 10/mm

RBC smear showed microcytic and hypochromic cells

Reticulocyte count = 1.5%

Other laboratory values were within normal limits.

Question

Considering the circumstances and the preliminary workup, what type of anemia does Ms. A most likely have? In an essay of 500-750 words, explain your answer and include rationale.

Case Study 2

Mr. P is a 76-year-old male with cardiomyopathy and congestive heart failure who has been hospitalized frequently to treat CHF symptoms. He has difficulty maintaining diet restrictions and managing his polypharmacy. He has 4+ pitting edema, moist crackles throughout lung fields, and labored breathing. He has no family other than his wife, who verbalizes sadness over his declining health and over her inability to get out of the house. She is overwhelmed with the stack of medical bills, as Mr. P always took care of the financial issues. Mr. P is despondent and asks why God has not taken him.

Question

Considering Mr. P’s condition and circumstance, write an essay of 500-750 words that includes the following:

Describe your approach to care.

Recommend a treatment plan.

Describe a method for providing both the patient and family with education and explain your rationale.

Provide a teaching plan (avoid using terminology that the patient and family may not understand).
