A counter-argument section for this paper should explain what the opposition believes, and it is the opposite of the opinion you are arguing in your paper. For example, if you are arguing that anti-plagiarism software should not be used in college classes, then the counterargument would be that anti-plagiarism software should be used. Unit 3 Essay: China’s Impact on Japan and Korea

You have now read a chapter on the early history of East Asia that focused primarily on the history of China but also included the equally important early histories of Japan and Korea. In an essay of approximately 800 words, please explain when and how Japan’s and Korea’s histories were impacted by China, but also what was unique about the historical development of each. To do so, you will want to take as your starting point the period during which East Asia first becomes clearly identifiable as a cultural sphere with developed states in each case – roughly, the sixth to eighth centuries. In writing your essay and thinking about its structure, you might consider the following questions, although you should make your own judgment about what should and should not be included and discussed:

1. Should the introduction define the term East Asia, the period of time in East Asian history under consideration, and which countries are being included in the discussion?
2. Should the introduction define clearly the topic that will be discussed and also offer a tentative assessment? (For example, to what extent were Japan and Korea impacted by China and to what extent were their histories entirely unique?)

• The Period of the Three Kingdoms – You have been provided with a link to the entirety of chapter 2 in this book. That chapter is on the Three Kingdoms Period in Korean History (in this book, transliterated as Baekje, Koguryo, and Silla). But the most important section for the essay will be p. 63-73, “The Culture of the Three Kingdoms.”

For this assignment, read the scenario below and write an essay detailing your response.

Scenario – Your supervising attorney asked you to do intake on a “receiving stolen property” charge, and you want to verify what the statute says and what it means.

Using Lexis.com, find and cite the statute in Wisconsin that makes it a criminal offense to receive, possess, or transport stolen property. It may be located in a special section of the code or may be part of a general theft statute section.

Go to AmJur2d and find the article that states the elements of receiving stolen property. Possible searches include: receipt of stolen property, receiving stolen property, or possession and transportation of stolen property.

For this assignment you will be exploring the crime of “receiving stolen property. My grade will depend on the extent to which you take the following required steps:

Research the laws in your Wisconsin: Locate the relevant statute in Wisconsin related to receiving stolen property, and identify the “elements” of that criminal statute (that is, what needs to be proved, like the fact that the property was stolen, that it was in the possession of a person who did not have a right to it, etc.).

Research AmJr2d: Find an article in AmJur2d about receiving stolen property that discusses the elements of receiving stolen property. The identified article must address the elements of the crime.

Compare: Compare the elements listed in your state statute and the elements listed in AmJur2d. What is different? What is the same? Does your state include more elements or less?
