recreation program

This chapter focuses on recreation program activity areas and formats for how leisure experiences are typically put together as services delivered to people. Take a look at your own childhood talked about a particular program that you were engaged in and how it was delivered using one of the platforms discussed in the chapter.

This assignment should be no more than one page and should include key points of the following: APA Style 6th Edition

1) The leisure experience

2) What type of group activity was it

3) Was it competition, open facility, special event, special interest group or instructional

ABS Market, business and finance homework help

**ONE PAGE**

You are a finance employee at a financial institution, specializing in originating auto loans in a country where auto loans have only been available for 2 years. Your group has just been informed that a close competitor has securitized $150 million in auto loans through an investment bank.

  • Your boss wants to understand why the competitor did this. Explain.
  • He also wants to understand the potential benefits for the following:
    • the issuer
    • the investors buying the ABS
    • the individual borrowers seeking auto loans
  • He also wants to know the likely impact to the auto loan market in this country if a large, liquid ABS market emerges over the next few years.

Morality and Social Responsibility

Assignment: Morality and Social Responsibility

Philosophical perspectives and theories on morality contribute to an understanding of the deep-rooted human need to question the role human beings play in society. Whether your views align with those of Aristotle, Kant, or Mill, you can explore the reasons behind your inherent motivation to act responsibly. At the outset of your life, you develop habits of thought based on what you are exposed to, where you live, with whom you live, and your experiences. In this Application Assignment, you critically examine these experiences as well as theoretical perspectives on morality and assess how they impact your moral and cultural identity. You also assess how these experiences influence your concept of social responsibility.

To prepare for this Assignment:

  • Read the articles by Brink (2014), Johnson (2014), and Kraut (2014) in this week’s resources. Summarize the key points of each theory. Does one theory resonate with you more than another? Why or why not?
  • Make connections to your own culture. Consider whether these three theories are reflected in your own culture.
  • Review the Cultural Genogram: Dimensions of Culture document in this week’s Resources. Think about the ways different dimensions of culture inform your moral identity (e.g., how your national, ethnic, and/or gender identity informs your moral identity).
  • Consider how different dimensions of culture inform your concept of social responsibility.

By Day 7

Write a 2-page analysis connecting the three theories of morality to your own cultural identity.

Explain how the theories align or do not align with your cultural identity. Include how cultural identity impacts social responsibility.

Provide at least three references using proper APA format.

You need to read an article and then answer some questions baed on your understanding in what you have read,

These three links (will provide once I choose a writer) are your research/book-review essay. You need not do any other research. Simply start by reading this article and and the link to the Texas statutory gun law. Click on the New York Review of Books link above. It takes you to a book review of three books. You are to read the article about these three books. Your paper is based on these three links. The Department of Public Safety (DPS) link takes you to a booklet, “Texas License to Carry a Handgun.” The New York Times link takes you to a short opinion essay written by retired U.S. Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens on why he believes the Second Amendment should be repealed.

From this pool of questions, one will be chosen for you to answer. Preparing for this exam should include developing an outline for each question. You may use that outline when you write your exam.

Important reminders for your essay:

– Think of your reader as someone who needs your help. Your essay will
serve as a tutorial:

– Organize your thoughts so they are expressed on paper as a
coherent whole. Given the constraints of the exam format, you’ll
probably write a minimum of four, and a maximum of six
paragraphs.
These should ‘hang together’ in a way that’s easy to
follow; there is a clear progression of ideas.

– Write intelligibly: sentences must be grammatical and cohesive.

– Choose your words carefully. Remember, you’re constructing ideas for your reader.

– Orient your essay around a single point you want to make, using your thinker(s) as evidence.

– Do not quote the text. I want to read you, not the thinker in question. Reference
any textual evidence you use in your essay in your own words, e.g., ‘Socrates
says that he doesn’t know anything…,’ rather than, “I know that I have no
wisdom, small or great.”

Question Pool

  • Does Socrates care about anyone?

  • Does Plato’s theory of recollection provide a metaphysical framework for
    Socrates’s ‘What is X?’ question?

  • What’s love got to do with it? Explain Plato’s epistemology and
    metaphysics in terms of love.

answer all 3 as 1 question.

all that is required for the essay goes for each question. So answer each question separately. meaning each question should have min. 4-6 paragraphs

Norm Breaking paper

Summary: Norm-breaking in Family life: One theme of the class will be to reveal the power of cultural/institutional norms in shaping family life.In this assignment, you will explore what it is like to go against the grain in an area of your choice (e.g., keeping name after marriage; declining to own a TV; home-schooling; splitting housework evenly; working part-time in high-demand occupations such as academia, finance or tech; celibacy, etc.).You can adopt any of several ways to go about this. After you pick your area of interest, you can interview 1-2 people going against the grain in this area (or who have in their life) or you can rely upon reports from 5-6 text/media sources (books, films, articles, blogs, etc.).Then you will analyze aspects of this experience in light of course themes from reading or class discussion. You will write your analysis up in a 5-page paper.

Why: The assignment should highlight for students the power of social norms in family and intimate life, and also illustrate for students what it is like to resist those norms.Students will also gain experience in primary research, and will practice synthesizing knowledge, i.e. applying the ideas from one area (course themes from reading/discussion) to another area (the particular experience of norm-breaking that they explore). The assignment also provides an opportunity for students to hone their skills in another kind of writing.

The details:

  • Students should identify a topic relevant to the sociology of family that is subject to strong censure by others/pressures to conform/social norms. This preliminary topic ID will involve some research, because students will have to figure out 1) a practice or identity they care about, that 2) goes against the grain/bucks the trend/breaks norms.
  • In proposing a topic, students need to prove that what they want to write about is a minority practice/identity/population.If students want to write about the experience of being Jewish and keeping the Sabbath, for example, the topic proposal should include the percentages of conservative and Orthodox Jews in the United States. If a student wants to write about the experience of being transgender, then the topic proposal will have to report statistics about the incidence of transgender people in the population. All facts should be cited, and all sources should be reputable (academic or think tank, no Wikipedia, etc).
  • Your proposal should also indicate how you plan on executing the paper – will you be interviewing people?Consulting online sources or written materials?Tell your TA how you will gain access to interviewees, how you will find sources, and how many sources you will consult. Supply URLs or other means that they can double check your sources.
  • Once your topic is approved, then you should go about collecting your data – interviewing/reading/researching your topic.See more information about conducting interviews below.
  • Once you have your data you should read it over again repeatedly, looking for particular themes that stand out. What is it like to break norms in this area? How did they first decide to embark on this path? Why did they do so?How did they know they were violating a common standard or bucking the trend? How did other people respond? How did they manage the experience of being unusual or unique? Did the experience change them at all? What did they learn from it?What do they think about others who break similar or different community standards or beliefs?
  • Once you have your themes, then put them in some sort of logical order, and construct an argument around them, so that one theme leads into the next.
  • When writing up the paper, include an introduction, conclusion and appendix (where you will provide your data) and bibliography (for the sources that you cite to establish that the practice/identity you are writing about is unusual).Give us one paragraph about your data – what did you analyze? The bulk of the paper, however, should develop an argument by expounding upon the themes you discovered, with quotes from your data as evidence.Your paper should be 5 pages. In an appendix, attach your transcripts/interview notes/notes from websites, etc.

Interviewing: If you are using interviews, they should last about 30-60 minutes, and involve questions you should prepare in advance (make a list of about 10-20 questions beforehand so you don’t have to think on the fly).I wouldn’t use the words “norm-breaking” with your interviewees because that sounds too much like sociological jargon. You can tape record the interview on your phone and transcribe them, or take notes during the conversation; you should hand in the transcripts/notes with your paper.Be polite and friendly, but also fearless and interested/curious about their lives – most people will respond well to genuine interest. At the same time, please be sensitive to people’s feelings. If they give you a sense that they don’t like talking about something, you can always check in with them, remind them that the interview is confidential and voluntary, and ask if there’s any way you can make them more comfortable with the experience.

Tips for good interviewing:

  • Start out by telling people the interview is confidential (you will change their names when you write up their answers for the paper to submit to your TA), and voluntary (they can stop it whenever they want).
  • If possible, use empathy to establish a connection to the interviewee, so they feel more comfortable (by using reflective statements that give voice to the emotions they’ve been expressing, e.g. “sounds like that could be difficult sometimes”).
  • In interviews, your job is to get them to be as specific as possible. Most people will put the best face on things in interviews (e.g., “here in xxx, we take care of each other”) but your job is to try and get them to be very concrete (e.g. “the last time I saw my father was last week, when he needed a ride to the market”).Specifics will help get people past statements of honorable behavior and instead reporting what is actually true.Questions like “can you give me an example?” or “when was the last time you…?” or “walk me through the time you …?” are more effective than “do you believe that xxx?”
  • Avoid yes/no questions; ask truly open-ended questions (do: “how did you know how other people felt about your choice?”; don’t: “did you feel alienated then?”)
  • Make time afterward to ask if they have any questions for you.Treat them and their words with respect.

I will be looking at
why divorce rates in an arranged marriage is lower than love marriage. Based on
the statistics in “statistic brain” it states that the global divorce rates for
arranged marriages is 6.3%. I will be looking at online blogs, articles, and
news about this matter.
the norm-breaking practice you have in mind is the practice of getting divorced from an arranged marriage.

Make sure that your research includes (and your argument is drawn from) what people who have been divorced from arranged marriages have to say.

metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) used in logistics and supply chain

Stock Project – Fall 2018

(You can work individually or in groups of up to 3)

Part A: Due in class exactly one week before Final Exam

PART A: (10% of course grade)

Analysis of risk and return, portfolio diversification

Here you will apply what you have learned about portfolio theory. Use the monthly-adjusted closing prices for IBM, MSFT, And the S&P500 during the five-year period from January 2013 – December 2017 in the file “Stock Project Stock Prices” posted on Canvas. Calculate returns for each month for each of these three assets (Stock 1; Stock 2; S&P 500).

Exercise 1:

Calculate the following for each asset (in Excel, using the statistical functions given in parentheses): average return (AVERAGE), standard deviation of returns (STDEV.S), and variance of returns (VAR.S). What is the covariance (COVAR.S) and correlation (CORREL) between the returns of stock 1 and stock 2?

Exercise 2:

Calculate the return and standard deviation of a portfolio that holds these two stocks in the following weights: 0%-100%; 10%-90%; 20%-80%; 30%-70%; 40%-60%; 50%-50%; 60%-40%; 70%-30%; 80%-20%; 90%-10%, 100%-0%. Plot these portfolio return / standard deviation combinations. Make sure return is on the vertical axis and standard deviation is on the horizontal axis. (Important: use a scatterplot) (You may use excel for this part)

Exercise 3

1. Which specific combination would deliver the least amount of risk? Use the formula for the minimum variance portfolio (show your work) to get the exact weights, calculate its return, standard deviation and Sharpe ratio (show your work), and mark it by hand on your plot printout. The monthly risk free rate is 0.15%.

2. Draw in the CAL (by hand) that gives you the best risk-return combinations, given that the monthly risk free rate is 0.15%. Mark the optimal risky portfolio. Calculate the optimal risky portfolio’s weights (show your work) in the two stocks (using the book’s formula 6.10). For this optimal portfolio, calculate the average return, standard deviation, and Sharpe ratio (show your work).

3. Mark the spot on your return / standard deviation plot where the market index (i.e. S&P 500) falls.

4. For a moment, assume the correlation between the two stocks equals exactly 1. Graph the investment opportunity set. (Hint: This does not require any additional excel work or calculations)

5. Now assume the correlation between the two stocks equals exactly –1. Again, graph the investment opportunity set. Make sure to be precise, and provide your calculations. If you would like, you can perform steps 4 and 5 on the same graph.

What to hand in: A hard copy of your plot, results, and detailed analysis — this means you should clearly show all of your work! Write out all equations that you use, with the exception of those that are functions in excel such as AVG, COVAR, VAR, etc. For example, you need to write out the equations for portfolio return, portfolio standard deviation, and show all your calculations in determining the MVP and ORP.

Reading Comprehension: Sam Harris, The Criticism of Bad Ideas, and Sexist Appeals To Biology

In his Washington Post article “Sam Harris, The Criticism of Bad Ideas, and Sexist Appeals To Biology, philosopher Daniel Fincke writes about an intersection between gender essentialism (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site., philosophical debate, sexism, and the atheist community.

For this assignment, you will explain, in your own words, Fincke’s argument in this piece. It’s complex, so read and annotate it carefully. Make sure to distinguish between when Fincke is arguing that people generally believe something, and when he himself believes the thing he’s saying. It can be tricky; you have to pay attention to tone and structure to find where he implicitly indicates this distinction.

You also need to do a little background research and rhetorical analysis. For example, who is Daniel Fincke and why is this a reliable source? Who is Sam Harris? What event/speech is Fincke referring to here? When did it happen? Who was the audience when it happened? Who is Fincke’s audience now?

You can respond to these questions in addition to your explanation of Fincke’s ideas. Your post should be about three paragraphs. Although there is no technical length requirement, I expect you to use your judgement about the length necessary to explain his ideas. This will be a summary, but you need to do more than a sentence or two. On the other hand, you don’t want to give a blow-by-blow rewrite of each paragraph. Find the right balance.
