Service Marketing versus Product Marketing

Before completing this assignment, Read below to view some differences in marketing a service, versus marketing a product. Consider whether or not the fundamentals of marketing are applicable to both services and products.:

Product vs. Service

PRODUCT

This photo is of a young, serious business man leaning against an MRI machine in a hospital setting. The machine fills most of the image.

Marketed for: Hospital executives interested in purchasing an MRI machine; Physicians interested in adding an MRI to their office practices.

SERVICE

This example is a photo of a friendly young doctor attending to an older woman with a cane. They are smiling at each other. The setting is unclear because the focus of the image rests on the two people.

Marketed for: A physician clinic that treats senior patients; Hospital, home health agency, or long-term care facility.

Marketers who specialize in health care services often consider service marketing to be fundamentally different from product marketing. Marketers who specialize in health care products take exception to this claim; they believe that the fundamentals of marketing are largely applicable to both services and products. Analyze both sides and this argument, and then select and support a position. 500 words APA format with properly formatted references

Elements and Functions of an Effective Information System Case

A New Student Information System

Your school district (or educational training organization) has determined that it is not ready to meet its responsibilities to comply with the new data reporting demands from the state and federal legislation. The existing student information system needs replacement, or at the very least, an upgrade. You have been asked to be a committee member and help critically evaluate the market of software publishers who claim their products are SIF (or SIS) compliant. The committee is made up of school board members, and key administrators, teachers, local business leaders, and parents in the community.

At an initial meeting, a fellow committee member asks what SIF stands for and why it is important to the selection process. Another member feels that no vendor should be contacted until the committee lists components for an effective information system that will also conform with requirements set forth in the state and federal legislation.

Case Assignment

After reading the Module 1 articles, please summarize in 3-4 pages (not including the cover sheet and reference list), what you told the committee. Be sure to define SIF, and illustrate ‘why’ or ‘why not’ vendors should be contacted to help.

As Master’s-level students, it is expected you have good research abilities.

This assignment should focus on your area of study (elementary, secondary, post-secondary, or adult education).

Assignment Expectations

To receive maximum credit, you must demonstrate understanding of context and purpose of the assignment by bringing all required elements (described above) to the discussion, and meeting additional expectations (described below).

The expected length of your Case assignment is 3 – 4 pages.

Include at least three in-text references, preferably including one which is other than those provided in the assigned readings.

As Master’s level students, it is expected that you develop strong skills for reviewing literature. (Students must conduct additional review of the literature as necessary.)

Your reference list and overall paper must be formatted properly in APA format and style.

Language Policy

Language is political. The English Only movement argues that every American citizen should be asked to learn to speak in English only because, even though Spanish, in most cases, may be becoming the virtual lingua franca of the country, the liberty to stay different will break the unifying fabric of the nation. The English Plus movement, on the other hand, finds the English Only movement exclusive and denying the basic cultural and constitutional rights to citizens with non-English backgrounds to profess their linguistic identities. Read the articles from Dvorak and Torres regarding the two movements.

Keeping in mind Van Herk’s discussion on asymmetrical bilingualism and diglossia in Chapter 10, analyze the two articles and the motives of the English Only and English Plus movements. What do you think should be the linguistic face of the country? Elaborate on your suggestion with regard to its implication on the school system, media attitudes, justice system, and other domains of life in our society.

BUS 499 week 10 assignment 4

In this assignment, you are to use the same corporation you selected and focused on for Assignments 1, 2, and 3.

Consider the corporation you have selected to use in your first three assignments. Identify one of the firm’s major competitors that you would consider working for.

Research the corporation on its own Website, the public filings on the Securities and Exchange Commission EDGAR database (http://www.sec.gov/edgar.shtml), in the University’s online databases, and any other sources you can find. The annual report will often provide insights that can help address some of these questions.

You will do a 15 minutes presentation to the Board of Directors of the corporation. Develop an eight to twelve slide PowerPoint presentation with speaker notes or record a video based upon Assignments 1 through 4. You may choose to compare your chosen corporation to a major competitor with whom you would like to work. You will make recommendations to the Board of Directors based upon your analysis and decision on why the corporation remains or is not a good fit for you.

Determine the impact of the company’s mission, vision, and primary stakeholders on its overall success as a competitive employer in the industry.

Create a SWOT analysis for the company to determine its major strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.

Based on the SWOT analysis, outline a strategy for the company to capitalize on its strengths and opportunities, and minimize its weaknesses and threats.

Discuss the various levels and types of strategies the firm may use to maximize its competitiveness and profitability.

Outline a communications plan the company could use to make the strategies you recommend above known to all stakeholders.

Develop an executive level Power Point presentation with 8 -12 slides with speaker notes and appropriate graphics or professional video.

Assess efforts by this corporation to be a responsible (ethical) corporate citizen and determine the impact these efforts (or lack thereof) have on the company’s bottom line. Provide specific examples to support your response.

Use at least three (3) quality references. Note:Wikipedia and other Websites do not quality as academic resources.

References must be submitted on a Works Cited page using SWS format. This course requires use of Strayer Writing Standards (SWS). The format is different than other Strayer University courses. Please take a moment to review the SWS documentation for details.

Analytical Summaries

For this assignment, you will compose two short critical essays explaining and evaluating arguments by other authors. This assignment allows you to analyze an issue from a variety of perspectives and assess arguments for or against the issue. By focusing your attention on how the original authors use evidence and reasoning to construct and support their positions, you can recognize the value of critical thinking in public discourse.

Read the two articles “Shooting in the Dark“, and “Focusing on the How of Violence” and write two separate analytical summaries.

This assignment has two parts.

Part 1—First Article

Write an analytical summary of the article focusing on the article’s main claims. Include the following:

  • Provide a brief summary of the argument presented in the article.
  • Identify and discuss three ways the author uses evidence to support assertions.
  • Analyze how the author signals this usage through elements such as word choices, transitions, or logical connections.

Part 2—Second Article

Write an analytical summary of the article focusing on the article’s main claims. Include the following:

  • Provide a brief summary of the argument presented in the article.
  • Identify any value-based assertions in the article and how the author supports these value-based conclusions with evidence.
  • Discuss how this evidence does or does not demonstrate relevance, consistency, transparency, and speculation.
  • Analyze how the author signals the use of these elements through language. For example, word choices, transitions, or logical connections.

Contemporary Organization Evaluation

Please read all instructions carefully…

In today’s fast-paced and global community, most organizations are faced with constant change. Research contemporary organizations that are currently responding to a significant change within the industry, such as disruptive technology; state, government, or industry regulations; environmental constraints; judicial or legislative rulings; etc.

Choose one organization from your research that has recently responded to major change, or is currently responding to change. Write a paper in APA format (1,250-1,500 words) discussing how well the organization is responding to the change dynamics. Include the following:

  1. Describe the organization and the change to which it is responding.
  2. Discuss the degree to which the change has been disruptive and how the organization has responded to the dynamics created by this change.
  3. Evaluate the strategies the organization used in its change plan and determine the level of success the organization experienced with the strategies.

  5. Evaluate the overall implications the change had on interdepartmental collaboration.
  6. In your opinion, how well did the leaders of the organization respond and prepare for the change? What worked and what did not work with the strategies they implemented?
  7. What modifications would you suggest the leaders of the organization make in order to better address the change dynamics? What additional strategies would you recommend to assist the organization through this change?

Include at least 3-5 references in APA format.

Peer review assignment

This is the information for the peer review Writing Assignment #4: Peer Review

Writing Assignment #4 will be a peer review of another student’s personal research narrative.

You will include two documents when you submit the assignment. You will submit the

following:

 your fellow student’s essay that you reviewed

 your essay that you have written as a peer review of your fellow student’s essay

Issues to Consider When Writing Your Peer Review

In writing the peer review, please read the paper carefully and write an essay with your review of

the paper.

Please do not simply answer a list of questions about the paper. Write your review in essay

form, with an introductory paragraph, body paragraphs, and a concluding paragraph.

Listed below are some questions you should consider when writing your peer review. Again,

these are questions you should consider. When writing your review, you will not simply write

answers to these questions. You will write an essay.

1. Does the essay have a strong introductory paragraph and a clear thesis statement?

2. Is the student’s research journey apparent when reading the personal research narrative?

3. Is the reader clear about what he or she already knew about the subject before

researching?

4. Does the paper integrate the strategies mentioned by Bergmann?

o Does the student describe steps he or she took while researching? Note how the

essay from Bergmann does this on page 162. Does the student take this

approach?

o Bergmann says, “Although the personal research narrative does not take the form

of an argument, often an argument underlies it or emerges from it” (p. 160). Can

you see the underlying argument the writer is making in the paper?

o Bergmann says on page 161 that “transitions and cues to your purpose and to your

response to sources are particularly important for your readers…” (p. 161). Does

the writer incorporate transitions and cues in this manner?

5. Does each paragraph begin a new topic, perhaps a new topic in the research journey?

6. Are any terms in need of clarification or definition? In other words, as a reader, did you

need clarification or definition of any terms or concepts in the essay?

Length:

Your essay should be 800-1100 words in length
