You will need to post your Evidence-Based Practice Presentation to the main forum in Topic 8 as directed by the instructor for class discussion and peer feedback.

While APA format is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected, and in-text citations and references should be presented using APA documentation guidelines, which can be found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.

This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.

Assignment: Applying a Model to Address a Business Process Change

In your Reading you reviewed the Capability Maturing Model (CMM) and in the Learning Activity you briefly practiced with the Kotter 8-Step Model. Now you will apply one of these models to address a business process change needed at the organization of your choice. You will also apply Porter’s 3-phase process from the learning activity to suggest a strategy and steps to be taken in each phase.

Prepare your original Business Process Change in a Word document using APA format. Use the Writing Center accessed through the Academic Tools area of the course by selecting Academic Support Center. You can also consult APA Central located in the Academic Tools area as well.

Do some research to obtain your selected specific industry and/or organization resources. If confidentiality is a concern regarding the organization you selected, choose a publicly traded company instead. Ultimately it is your responsibility to ensure you do not share any of an organization’s proprietary information.

Checklist:

• Select one industry from those recommended below and then choose one of three types of organizations provided for that industry. Select an existing company in that industry or use your current organization and industry, and do some research. Then choose a business process change at that company you might propose and address the checklist items (a) through (f).

–Service Industry: Retail; Restaurant; Supermarket

–The organization for which you work. (Be careful not to share proprietary information.)

(a) Provide the name of an existing organization. Ensure you have access to the information required for this project and protect your selected organization’s proprietary information. You can select a publicly held organization if proprietary information is a concern.

(b) Describe the organization’s size (locations, divisions, employees) and summarize the primary mission and vision of the organization. Do not simply copy from the organization’s mission or vision statements.

(c) Based on your research of the organization, identify and explain a single business process change that the organization will need to undertake in the coming year. The change can result from new or improved technologies, economic issues, or changes in the marketplace.

(d) Utilizing either (1) the Capability Maturing Model (CMM) or (2) the Kotter 8 Step Model from the Learning Activity, outline briefly what changes need to be undertaken at each of the stages.

-Explain how using the chosen business process will improve organizational performance.

(e) Evaluate Porter’s three-phase process (page 29, figure 2.1 and also see the Learning Activity) for defining a company strategy, and create a simple chart of the recommended change addressing issues in each phase.

(f) Use APA format and citation style and demonstrate consistency in the body of the paper, indenting paragraphs (paragraphs should consist of at least 3–4 sentences each) , proper margins, citations, and references. You should use 5 references for this paper properly cited and referenced using APA format and citation style. A paper missing references will receive an automatic 20% reduction in grade.

For this Assignment you will pick one recommended screening from AHRQ section 2; an A or B Grade:

An initiative is a project, an event, so something in the community is ideal. Workplace location for employees is fine too. Please include the following suggested level one headings so content is clear and easily identified.

Conceptual Model

Choose a conceptual model that you think might work for your initiative and explain the model here. Appendix 2 in the document at the link below will help you understand community approaches. Appendix 3 in this same document will help you with conceptual model selection. Note: This project is about screening, not physical activity evaluation. Use the appendix as a resource for models:

You may choose to independently research your model to help you explain its application to your initiative. If you have found another model you will like to use, not listed, contact your instructor.

Screening Purpose

Discuss why it is important to screen for this condition. This is where you address your community assessment and the reason for this need in your community/ population choice. Support your stance with statistics and information, ideally related to the location and population.

Population

Clearly address the demographics that are being screened; where they live, state, county, ages, races included etc.

Screening Activity

This section is what you are doing at the screening and should completely align with the screening guideline above for the condition. Also all health promotion screenings include some brief prevention education component.

Outcome Goals

Bullet a few specific goals here. What do you hope to accomplish with your screening?

Location

Briefly explain where you are doing this. It should be very specific. Senior Citizen Center in Monroe Co on Saturday. Local church- name, malls, fair etc. Think about what facility type, area you will need. Add comments on why this location meets the needs of your target population and screening choice.

Cost

This is the cost for you to develop and conduct the initiative. It is best displayed as a brief Word table showing what it costs you do develop and conduct the screening; paper, equipment, rental s etc. Volunteers are fine, but everything is not free. Students must demonstrate they can develop a cost estimate for screenings that is realistic and takes into account financials. If there is a cost for the attendees that should go here as well.

Summary

Provide a summary of your screening, general benefit to the community and why it is important.

This should be a 3–4 page paper, excluding title page, and references. A person should be able to read your paper and understand fully what you are screening, where, when, the costs and how it is supported in the guideline. Ideally a person would be able to duplicate your screening initiative, based on the clarity you present. This paper should adhere to appropriate 6^th edition APA format. A minimum of 3-4 sources should be used. Times New Roman, font 12, 4 references not older than 5 years (2012-2017).

Attorney Adams has accepted a case that involves a series of
harassment incidents over a long period of time at a job site. The
employer is one of the defendants. To get maximum recovery, the timing
of several separate incidents will need to be shown. The timing of
employer responses and training need to be shown as well and be matched
up with incidents. The employer claims that prompt action, remediation
and training remedies were done, but the victims are claiming “too
little, too late.”
It is going to be hard to get a jury to “see” the timing. Please
explain in a 2 to 3 page paper for Attorney Adams how a time map
software product may help. What brand of time line software do you
recommend? Give a second choice. What are some pros and cons of each?
