Creating a Career Goal

My Goal Sheet

Developing a career goal is a great way to take charge of planning your career and a useful tool to manage your career effectively. Many individuals may not know how to develop a career goal; follow the steps below to help you determine where to start. There are a few steps that can be helpful in determining your career goal, which include: conducting a self-assessment, exploring industries and careers, and determining factors that are non-negotiable (e.g., geographic location, salary requirements, and health care benefits). The final step of goal setting is writing the first draft of your goal.

Step 1: Self-Assessment

  • What do you do well?
  • What energizes you?
  • If you knew you could not fail, what would you do?
  • What high school subjects did you do well in?
  • What issues do family and friends come to you for help?
  • What do you receive praise for at work or home?
  • What are some of your greatest accomplishments?
  • What is something you do where you lose track of time when you are doing it?

If you would like to take an online self-assessment to learn more about yourself, you may take TypeFocus. Visit the Self- Discovery Resources (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.page of My Career to learn how you can register to take the assessment.

Step 2: Career Exploration
Explore job industries by conducting research on the type of careers that use your interests and skillset. O*Net OnLine (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site., the Occupational Outlook Handbook (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site., and Bureau of Labor Statistics (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. are great web resources for career exploration, job analysis, and education requirements.

Ask a professional in your career field of interest for an informational interview. Informational interviews allow you to gather information from a direct contact about his or her role. There are various ways to pursue an informational interview. For example, company websites, social networking sites, newspaper ads, and professional associations are avenues a job seeker can take.

Also, while deciding on a goal, consider your current lifestyle and where you would like to be in the future. Some helpful questions to consider are listed below.

  • Does the career you want pay a salary that meets your needs?
  • Will it offer you opportunities to advance?
  • Are you comfortable sitting at a desk all day, or do you prefer to travel?
  • Is the career you are considering likely to exist when you are ready for a job?

Step 3: Determining your non-negotiable items
Although we may not speak them aloud, we each have things we are not willing to compromise on. During this step, write out your “must haves” for your future career.

To help get you started, think about the minimum salary you need to have, where you want to live, and desired work hours.

Part I.

Watch a prime time
television show (or rerun) in which the episode focuses on a group of people
who are talking to each other in formal or informal meetings as the context for
the show. You may choose from the following: The Office, Law & Order, the
Shield, 24, The Unit, or reruns of shows such as Friends, Seinfeld, or Everyone
Loves Raymond. If you would like to use a different show, send a message to
your instructor to get approval for your choice. Take notes while you watch the
show so that you can notice and recall who played group task roles, group
maintenance roles, and any self-centered roles. Your notes in Part I should be
integrated into your answers to the assignment questions in Part II.

Note: This assignment is
not referring to communication that occurs because of people’s personalities or
job skills. Please refer to Figure 9.1 in your textbook for specific group
communication roles.

If the show you have
selected does not give you an opportunity to observe a small group working
together in the particular episode you have chosen, please choose another
episode or show. It will be difficult for you to answer the questions well if
the show does not match the purpose of this assignment. However, you can
discuss poor examples of group communication roles as well as good examples and
show your learning. You do not have to find only good examples of group
communication roles. If you cannot find a show with a group of people who are
very clearly in a small group communication situation, then you may need to
discuss a real-life group of people who are communicating with each other in a
small group situation.

Part II.

Read the following
questions. Write the answers to the questions, review your work, and submit
your answers. Integrate the key concepts and key terms from this lesson into
your answers.

The answer to each
question should be approximately 6 to 10 sentences in length. You should write
your responses in complete sentences free of spelling and grammatical errors.
Please type your answers in a Word document and then paste your answers below
each question in the space provided.

Before
completing this assignment, review the
Grading Rubric.

1.List the television show that you watched. Use the communication
task roles Chapter 9 and 10 discuss to describe two specific characters and the
communication task role(s) they played. How did these roles affect the group
communication? Give specific examples.

2.Describe each maintenance/social role in your own words, and
explain which were present in the television show you watched. Which
maintenance/social roles have you commonly seen happen in your everyday life?

3.Briefly describe a “self-centered role.” How do you
think self-centered roles detract the group from its goals? Give specific
examples.

4.Using the functional approach to leadership, analyze the leader of
the group from the television show you watched. Did this leader perform mostly
task functions or process functions? How did the person’s leadership affect the
communication of the group? Give specific examples and incorporate concepts
from the textbook.

5.Of the variables that affect climate (found on page 267), which
was the most prevalent in the group communication that you observed?

—————————————————————–

All the work has to be 100 percent original.

Any guides/existing papers you find on internet will definitely not be
accepted

Any kind of plagiarism will definitely not be accepted.

Please read all requirement very very carefully and make sure it follows
the instruction very well.

W2 Discussion Descartes’ Method of Hyperbolic Doubt

This week, we will discuss and assess our excerpts from Descartes’s First Meditation.

Specifically, address in as much detail and clarity as possible the following questions:

  • Hyperbolic doubt:
At the beginning of the First Meditation, Descartes announces that
he seeks “to set aside all the opinions which I had previously
accepted” (p. 177). Why does Descartes wish to do this? Do you consider
his reasons for doing this reasonable? Why or why not? Do you
consider his epistemological project important? Why or why not?
  • The testimony of our senses:
The first doubt that Descartes discusses focuses on the idea that
our senses occasionally mislead us. What conclusions does Descartes
draw from this? Do you agree with his line of thought? Why or why not?
  • The dream argument:
Descartes’ celebrated dream argument–located in the fourth
paragraph of our excerpt–ends with the conclusion that there exists
no test that one can use to determine whether or not he is dreaming.
Why exactly does Descartes believe this?  (HINT: For any possible
test, could it be the case that we merely dream that we perform that
test?) Do you think that Descartes’ reasoning about this is correct?
If not, please identify exactly where his errors lie.

Respond to this post:

According to our textbook, responsibility accounting (RA) are “tools and concepts used by managerial accountants to measure the performance of an organization’s people and subunits”.

Generally, RA encompasses a company’s internal accounting and budgeting. The purpose of which is to help in the development and regulate a company’s responsibility centers like a decentralized department and division. RA also includes the establishment of yearly and monthly budgets for each responsibility center and the company’s transactions are categorized by responsibility center with prepared monthly reports. The reports will have tangible amounts for each line item in the budget with the variance concerning the budget and actual amounts. RA allows business’s and managers of a responsibility center to obtain monthly feedback on the manager’s performance (Averkamp, 2018). This journal is about the organization of responsibility accounting of the enterprises of City Electric Transport (CET) in Ukraine. This article explains how CET has been unprofitable in an industry that is declining where the important role of the CET is established through the experiences of advanced and functioning worldwide transport systems and the infrastructure of transport services through accessibility, cost-effectiveness and environmental friendliness. Added to this, according to scientific studies, developing better electric transport also allows for significant and positive environmental and social effects. In order to accomplish this, there would need to be drastic changes. They need to increase the performance and quality of service of the management system by guiding efforts to weather the unprofitability of their tram and trolleybus enterprises.

This article was written about how to tackle the problems within the transport service City Electric Transport (CET) in the Ukraine and how to safeguard the greatest efficacy for each passenger while at the same time ensuring the competitiveness of CET. The opportunity here was to approximate the effectiveness of different routes, and by using this approximation to set preferences for both units together that offer traffic of vehicles, and for management and staff to be accountable for the quality and efficiency of passenger transport. By incorporating state regulation of the industry, characteristics in interactions with customers, the detailed description of the services provided and technological features of structural units, CET can confirm the effectiveness of the organizations management accounting and enterprise activity. To accomplish this, the article states that a mathematical model and the method for determining the management quality, which connects the quality of service with the efficiency of city transport routes, was developed which allowed for rating of routes by the criterion of efficiency and determining the quality of service of the transport enterprise’s customers regarding the accuracy of fulfillment of the transport schedule.

    Option 2: Product Advertising

Part 1: Consumer Behavior Journal, Advertising (3-4 pages)

Over three one-week periods, track the advertising activities of a product of your choosing. This can include any marketing medium such radio, television, billboards, web, and mobile devices. Please do not collect data for 21 disparate days. We’re trying to find patterns in advertising of the product. Determine and note the multiple branding messages and images used in each ad and be prepared to discuss the differences in the portfolio paper.

At the end of each seven-day period (seven consecutive days), identify which ad aired the most and which medium was most used. Then, address the following questions in the journal:

    • Why did you choose this particular product?
    • Which of Maslow’s needs are exemplified in each ad?
    • What types of ad are used: informative, persuasive, comparative? How effective are they? See Chapter 8’s “Measuring Media’s Advertising Effectiveness” in Consumer Behavior for insight.

Part 2: Consumer Behavior Journal, Advertising Essay (5-7 pages)

At the end of the three weeks, choose the three advertisements you saw or heard the most. Your paper should cover the following assessment for each of the three ads:

    • Discuss the ad strategy most used by this brand and its effectiveness in reaching its target audience. How conspicuously were Maslow’s needs integrated within the ad?
    • Include a summary of the images and branding messages used in the ads and determine the feasibility of persuading or informing viewers about the product. If the ads were comparative, define the strategy used to employ this type of ad and discuss the effectiveness of comparison between the products. If the ads were persuasive, discuss what methods were used to gain the attention of the viewer such as celebrity use, etc. If the ads were informative, detail what information was presented and how. Discuss whether the ad included sufficient information necessary for viewers to walk away with meaningful knowledge about the product.
    • Referring to Chapter 5, indicate which cognitive learning models you think the companies were trying to employ in the ads and detail the model to showcase your comprehension of it and its relevance to the ads.

To successfully complete this Portfolio, you must:

    • Submit a total of 8-12 pages, not including title or reference pages
    • Include at least six outside sources that support your discussion. The CSU-Global Library is a good place to search for these sources.
    • Ensure that both your journal and your paper are well written and formatted according to the CSU-Global Guide to Writing and APA Requirements

Important Note: I will provide my 3 week logs and this needs to be written in a professional manner.
