A matrix mapping of a key IT-related organizational (or personal) ethical issue concerning privacy.

Paper B1: a matrix mapping of a key IT-related organizational (or personal) ethical issue concerning privacy.

This assignment gives you an opportunity to analyze a key IT-related organizational (or personal, if not in the job force) ethical issue, related to privacy subject to relevant laws, regulations, and policies. Both of the following sites provide sources, and an excellent backdrop for issues relating to privacy protection and the law.

See EPIC Privacy Issues at: http://epic.org/privacy/ See List on left and/or: EFF Privacy at https://www.eff.org/issues/privacy [see list in center on this page].

This includes sub-topics discussing information privacy, privacy laws, applications and court rulings (case law is usually an extension of the basic law based on the facts from specific cases and real-world court decisions), and key privacy and anonymity issues. While the sites provide many interesting topics, be sure to focus on our class IT topics.

  1. Use the template below and the list of suggested workforce privacy topics from one of the sites above to produce a matrix to map a key organizational ethical (or personal, if not in the job force) issue and how this issue is affected by laws, regulations, and policies. Use the list of normative ethics principles below to help you complete the matrix. Choose any three (only three) of the following list of twelve (12) principles of normative ethics described below.
  2. Prepare the Ethical Issue matrix and include the following explanation (200 words) —double-space your narrative—below the matrix:
  1. Why I chose the dilemma;
  2. Why I chose the three principles; and
  3. An analysis of the research used to identify the actions in the matrix.

The completed matrix allows you to weigh the different issues involved and assign a rank as to the importance of the actions based on the effect on the stakeholders.

  1. Submit the matrix for grading to the LEO Assignments Module.
  2. Indicate appropriate APA in-text and source citations for all sources. In addition to critical thinking and analysis skills, your assignment should reflect appropriate grammar and spelling, good organization, and proper business-writing style.

This assignment is directly related to Paper-B2. The ethical issue identified in this assignment will be used in your Paper B2 Assignment. Paper B2 asks you to write a policy that corrects the ethical issue described in Paper B1.

Normative Ethics List

Autonomy: is the duty to maximize the individual’s right to make his or her own decisions.

Beneficence: is the duty to do good both individually and for all.

Confidentiality: is the duty to respect privacy of information and action.

Equality: is the duty to view all people as moral equals.

Finality: is the duty to take action that may override the demands of law, religion, and social customs.

Justice: is the duty to treat all fairly, distributing the risks and benefits equally.
Non-maleficence: is the duty to cause no harm, both individually and for all.
Understanding/Tolerance: is the duty to understand and to accept another viewpoint if reason dictates doing so is warranted.

Publicity: is the duty to take actions based on ethical standards that must be known and recognized by all who are involved.

Respect for persons: is the duty to honor others, their rights, and their responsibilities. Showing respect others implies that we do not treat them as a mere means to our end.

Universality: is the duty to take actions that hold for everyone, regardless of time, place, or people involved. This concept is similar to the Categorical Imperative.

Veracity: is the duty to tell the truth.

A sample template for the matrix is shown below. To reconstruct the sample template, you may use the Table Tool in MS Word or copy and paste this template.

Step 1: Identify the ethical issue that you want to analyze, as described above. An example might be the falsification of your personal profile in a social networking site.

Step 2: Identify the stakeholders involved. You, someone who reads your personal profile in a social network site, potential employers, etc. Be sure that each stakeholder category is unique and not similar to another category you use.

Step 3: Choose any three (only three) of the principles that might apply to your issue such as autonomy, publicity, and veracity.

Step 4: identify how the ethical issue affects each stakeholder based on the principles you identified. Put this statement in the matrix next to the stakeholder.

Sample Completed Matrix

Ethical issue: falsifying your profile on a social networking site

Stakeholders

autonomy

publicity

veracity

1: Yourself

You have the duty to maximize the right to make your own decisions.

You have the duty to take actions based on ethical standards that must be known and recognized by all who are involved.

You have the duty to tell the truth

2: Other users of the networking site

They have the duty to make their own decisions

They make these decisions based on ethical standards that should be recognized by the person falsifying their profile

They assume that the person falsifying the profile has the duty to tell the truth.

3: The social networking site

The autonomy of the site is limited by law (Goldman, 2007)

Users of social networking sites are content publishers, as such the site must take actions based on legal and ethical standards and must notify users of these standards so they are known by all.

As providers of content the site must conform to the laws regarding truth or be held responsible for legal issues as defamation (making harmful false statements about someone else) or copyright infringement. (Goldman, 2007)

Final Case Study: Consulting for the Caring Angel Hospital

****4-6 PAGE PAPER, COVER PAGE AND REFERENCE PAGE DO NOT COUNT****

Imagine that you are a senior consultant at Practical Health Care Consulting firm. Your supervisor has instructed you to spend three (3) months at the Caring Angel Hospital to help improve the quality of care, add value to the organization, improve employee morale, design an efficient organizational chart, create a strong team environment, and create the hospital’s competitive advantage. The hospital has traditionally made losses year after year. Furthermore, it is not performing well financially, and the banks are not willing to lend it large sums of money for more effective marketing.

After spending two (2) months within the hospital, you are very happy with your progress, and you think you are capable of acquiring more patient base and expanding the hospital market. However, with a closer look, you notice that your patients are still hopping from one specialized hospital to another in search of various specialized treatments. You also notice that the seats are not comfortable in the waiting area, and the patients continuously show up for appointments on the wrong dates. The nurses and the employees are not smiling during patient conversations, and everyone looks for ways to blame others for failures in the patient treatment process. Everyone seems to work alone and hide what they do from their colleagues.

At the end of the three (3) month period, you must provide a report with your recommended strategies designed to help Caring Angel Hospital achieve its goals.

Note: You may create and / or make all necessary assumptions needed for the completion of this assignment.

Write a four to six (4-6) page paper in which you:

  • From a consulting perspective, propose the major steps that Caring Angel Hospital could take to achieve each of the following goals:
    • Improve the quality of care
    • Add value to the organization
    • Improve employee morale
    • Design an efficient organizational chart
    • Create a strong team environment
    • Create the hospital’s competitive edge.
  • Recommend one (1) approach that the hospital could use for acquiring a larger market share given the prevailing financial circumstances. Justify your recommendation.
  • Investigate at least two (2) value-added services that Caring Angel Hospital could offer to strengthen its value proposition. Provide at least two (2) examples of the advantages of these value-added services to the hospital.
  • Use four (4) recent (within the last five [5] years) quality academic resources in this assignment.
Note: Wikipedia and other websites do not qualify as quality academic resources.

Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:

  • Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references must follow APA or school-specific format. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.
  • Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required assignment page length.

The specific course learning outcomes associated with this assignment are:

  • Propose methodologies that have been proven to increase value in health care delivery systems.
  • Examine leadership and management frameworks that are most applicable to a certain organization type within the health care industry.
  • Assess how politics in a health care organization motivates and demotivates employees, and recommend strategies to mitigate the challenges presented with each aspect.
  • Create a communication strategy to address an ethical dilemma within a health care organization regarding the quality of service and cost.
  • Craft a strategic plan that leads to a competitive advantage within a certain market.
  • Determine best practices for establishing and maintaining strategic alliances within the health care industry or enterprise.
  • Use technology and information resources to research issues in health care management.
  • Write clearly and concisely about health care management using proper writing mechanics.

Answer 6 medical questions in a short essay

Answer the following questions.

Mr. Smith is 60 years old. He was diagnosed with a prostate cancer five years ago. Over the past few days, Mr. Smith has been feeling weak and increasingly tired and has also been suffering from a headache that did not respond to over-the-counter medications. He scheduled an appointment with his physician.

His physician performed a physical examination and recommended a battery of laboratory tests and imaging procedures.

The table below shows Reference values in the right-hand column. These values reflect the normal range of values for patients without disease or illness. The center column reflects the resulting values for medical test results obtained for Mr. Smith.

Take note whether Mr. Smith’s values are within normal limits.

After receiving Mr. Smith’s test results, his physician admits him to the hospital. Hospital staff treated him and discharged him.

The following week, Mr. Smith returns to his physician with the same complaint of weakness and a new complaint of shortness of breath. His blood pressure is 160/100 mmHg. MRI reveals metastasis of prostate cancer to osseous tissue. Abdominal CT shows obstruction of intestine due to nodular enlargement of adrenal glands.

Laboratory results from Mr. Smith’s second hospital admission and medical tests show following findings:

CONCLUSION AND DIAGNOSIS

Laboratory findings, MRI and CT confirmed metastatic prostate adenocarcinoma, hypertension and refractory hypokalemia due to ectopic ACTH production. High levels of circulating cortisol caused continuous activation of mineralocorticoid receptors resulting in hypokalemia, metabolic alkalosis and hypertension.

After reading provided scenario, answer the following questions:

1.What are the components of physical examination? Describe each component.

2.Mr. Smith’s blood pressure was 160/100 mmHg. How does a medical provider take or measure blood pressure? What do the top (numerator) and bottom (denominator) numbers mean in the biological sense? What is the significance the size of these two numbers? Is Mr. Smith’s blood pressure within normal range? Explain how you concluded whether Mr. Smith’s blood pressure is/is not within normal range.

3.Based on the data provided, what laboratory tests were performed and what samples were taken from the patient? Select one of the laboratory tests ordered for Mr. Smith and discuss why Mr. Smith’s physician might have ordered the test and the information she might have expected to obtain from that particular test.

4.Compare Mr. Smith’s values with reference values and indicate whether MR. Smith’s values are below, above, or within normal range (compare Mr. Smith’s values with the Reference values) for each laboratory tests in the table above from the second set of tests.

5.What imaging procedures did Mr. Smith undergo? Discuss the distinctions and similarities between the two different imaging approaches. What were the results of imaging procedures in Mr. Smith’s case?

6. Select one of the medical terms from the CONCLUSION and DIAGNOSIS section above and define what it means. Also, discuss, in your own words and based on what you can gather about Mr. Smith’s condition, how the laboratory or imaging tests helped with drawing a conclusion or making the diagnosis. In your own words, discuss how medical providers use the scientific method to come to work through the examination and diagnosis of a patient.

You should write a short paper addressing all six questions and submit it into the assignment folder. Your grade will depend upon the content, clarity and originality of responses written in your own words. Good writing practices, including the use of correct grammar, sentence and paragraph structure, and punctuation, and presence of logical reasoning, will account for a portion of your grade.

Cite all sources in APA format within your answer text as well as full citations in APA format at the end of the assignment. References has to be scholarly.

Finance The financial sector has a profound influence on important macroeconomic

Finance The financial sector has a profound influence on important macroeconomic variables like GDP growth, employment and inflation. The evolution of financial institutions has made the world’s economies more interconnected than ever, allowing financial “contagion” to spread out of control. In an eight- to ten-page paper (not including title and references pages), address the following:

  • Describe recent financial crises and describe the effect that destabilized credit, mortgage, derivative, and insurance markets have had on national economies and assess the stabilization policies implemented to address them.
  • Compare and contrast two different countries during a time period when they experienced financial crises.
  • Explain the role and action that central banks took to stabilizing the business cycle. Be sure your answer includes appropriate data, graphs, terms, macroeconomic indicators and theories used.
  • Indicate which country you believe implemented the best stabilization policy during the crises, supporting your selection with scholarly resources.

Managerial Accounting Homework

Toxaway Company is a merchandiser that segments its business into two divisions—Commercial and Residential. The company’s accounting intern was asked to prepare segmented income statements that the company’s divisional managers could use to calculate their break-even points and make decisions. She took the prior month’s companywide income statement and prepared the absorption format segmented income statement shown below:

Total
Company

Commercial

Residential

Sales

$

In preparing these statements, the intern determined that Toxaway’s only variable selling and administrative expense is a 10% sales commission on all sales. The company’s total fixed expenses include $66,000 of common fixed expenses that would continue to be incurred even if the Commercial or Residential segments are discontinued, $78,000 of fixed expenses that would be avoided if the Commericial segment is dropped, and $56,000 of fixed expenses that would be avoided if the Residential segment is dropped.

Required:

1. Do you agree with the intern’s decision to use an absorption format for her segmented income statement?

2. Based on a review of the intern’s segmented income statement.

a. How much of the company’s common fixed expenses did she allocate to the Commercial and Residential segments?

b. Which of the following three allocation bases did she most likely used to allocate common fixed expenses to the Commercial and Residential segments: (a) sales, (b) cost of goods sold, or (c) gross margin?

3. Do you agree with the intern’s decision to allocate the common fixed expenses to the Commercial and Residential segments?

4. Redo the intern’s segmented income statement using the contribution format.

5. Compute the companywide break-even point in dollar sales.

6. Compute the break-even point in dollar sales for the Commercial Division and for the Residential Division.

7. Assume the company decided to pay its sales representatives in the Commercial and Residential Divisions a total monthly salary of $25,000 and $50,000, respectively, and to lower its companywide sales commission percentage from 10% to 5%. Calculate the new break-even point in dollar sales for the Commercial Division and the Residential Division.

RE: SOCW6351: Assignment: Position Paper

Dear students,

For Week 9, you will be submitting a paper discussing a specific policy (i.e. state or federal level Law or Act) from the perspective of a population. Think of this assignment as a Testimonial where you, as the macro social worker is trying to persuade the audience on behalf of members identified from a specific population (i.e. pros and cons of the policy, recommendations, etc). This paper is essentially a written version of a speech, so you can use first person and case scenarios/anecdotes in order to persuade the reader. Even though the objective is persuasion, academic writing is still required. As such, provide in-text citations and a Reference page following APA 6th edition formatting. Be sure to review the course themes document posted in Doc Sharing to assist you in formulating this paper: identify the social problem; identify the population(s) affected; identify a specific policy (i.e. act or law) that exists in an effort to address the social problem; reflect on the social work values present.

In an effort to assist you in this task, attached is a document with three brief writing samples. Please refer to these items for learning purposes only, do not duplicate or distribute: 6351_Week9Samples.pdf

Sometimes, during heated discussions and debates about social policy, the underlying reasons for the policy go unnoticed. Advocates and policymakers may become so committed to their perspectives and to winning the debates that they lose focus on the larger context surrounding an issue. The purpose of policy is to improve the lives and well-being of individuals and groups in our society. As you assume the role of a social work policymaker, consider the importance of keeping the needs and experiences of vulnerable populations at the forefront of your mind in your advocacy efforts. This can help to assure effective policy practice.

For this Assignment, you will analyze a state, federal, or global social welfare policy that affects an at-risk, marginalized, oppressed, underrepresented, or over looked group population. Finally, consider the impact of social policy from the perspective of the group you selected.

Assignment (5-7 double-spaced pages, APA format four peer reviewed references and use reference included as one of references). In addition to a minimum of eight scholarly references, which may include electronic government documents and reputable websites, your paper should include:

  • A description of the current policy approach for addressing the social issue you selected
  • A description of the current policy goals for addressing the social issue you selected
  • A description of the population the current policy approach covers
  • An explanation of the funding levels for the current policy approach and whether they are sufficient to address the issue
  • An explanation of how this policy may affect at-risk, marginalized, underrepresented, overlooked, or oppressed populations. Identify a specific at-risk population.
  • An analysis of whether or not the policy meets the needs of the population groups most affected by the policy.
  • Recommendations for alternative policies that would address the gaps identified in the policy. Please be specific in recommendations.

see questions below

Criminal justice agencies are often interested in determining whether certain characteristics or variables of offenders can predict certain outcomes. For instance, recidivism, which is defined as returns to prison after being released, is often looked at in terms of what variables predict that outcome. Variables such as race, gender, criminal history, treatment received, and others can influence recidivism.

For this Individual Project, you are working as an analyst for a State Correctional Agency. You have been asked to investigate whether or not the number of drug arrests an individual has predicts his or her number of prison incarcerations. These data will be used to shape a sentencing policy.

This assignment has 3 steps.

Step 1: This assignment will require you to complete the linear regression using Microsoft Excel and to interpret the results of that analysis. Before you do that, watch the following video and Web site on residuals and residual plots because there will be questions about this later:

Step 2: Transfer the data from the following table into Microsoft Excel. Then, use the data analysis part of Excel to conduct the regression (follow the steps below).

Steps to conduct regression in Excel:

  1. Cut and paste these columns of data into an Excel sheet.
  2. Go to the Data tab, and click the Data Analysis button to open the dialogue window. Highlight “Regression,” and click “OK.” This tells Excel that you will be calculating a regression model.
  3. When the Regression dialogue opens, it will require inputs. First, click in the Input Y Range box, and then use your cursor to select all of your values that are in the Y column. This tells Excel what data to consider the response variable. Make sure the dotted line encompasses the entire column to include the label header (# prison incarcerations).
  4. Next, click Input X Range box, and select all of the values that are in the X column. This tells Excel which data to consider your explanatory variable. Again, make sure the dotted line encompasses all of the column to include the header (# drug arrests).
  5. Next, click the Labels box that says and then the New Worksheet Ply button, and Type “Output” in the box next to that button. This tells Excel to read the labels of your columns as names and not data and to place the output of the analysis on a new worksheet.
  6. Then, click the Residuals box and the Residual Plots box. This tells Excel to analyze the residuals for the regression line and to plot them on a graph, giving you a visual idea of how far away each point of your data is from the predicted values given by the regression equation.
  7. Once done, click “OK” to run the analysis.

Step 3: Now that you have conducted the analysis, answer the following questions:

  1. What is the R-square value for the regression model?
  2. What does the R-square value tell you about the regression model?
  3. What is the significance F value of the model?
  4. What does the significance F value tell you about the statistical significance of the model?
  5. What is the coefficient (t stat value) for the X-variable drug arrests?
  6. What does the coefficient (t stat value) mean? In other words, how do you interpret the coeffficient?
  7. What is the p-value for the X variable drug arrests?
  8. What does the p-value for drug arrests tell you about its ability to predict prison incarcerations at a level of statistical significance?
  9. Is the residual plot a random pattern, nonrandom U pattern, or an inverse U pattern?
  10. What does the type of pattern tell you about the “fit” of the regression model to the data?

Please submit your assignment.

Introductions

Data visualizations can be used in many different ways. They paint a picture of data to make
it easier to interpret and understand. They are important for decision-makers because it
gives them the opportunity to see analytical results presented visually, find relevance among
variables, and predict the future.

Instructions

Imagine that the director of your department has tasked you with creating a presentation for
your organization that illustrates a health issue.

Go to the Kaplan Library and research a health topic (obesity, diabetes, heart disease,
cancer, etc.). Locate scholarly sources that represent the data in a visual way (infographics,
charts, graphs, etc.). Data visualizations may come from the CDC, NIH, American Heart
Association, American Diabetes Association, National Association of Mental Illness,
American Cancer Society, etc. You must use highly credible sources.

Use the template provided in the Doc Sharing area to complete your assignment.

Create a 10-12 slide PowerPoint presentation using visual representations of the data from
highly credible sources. There should be detailed speakers notes for each slide. The
presentation should be in the following format:
● Title slide
● Introduction slide
● Data visualization (3-4 visualizations, one on each slide).
In the speaker notes area, provide a detailed description of that data in the
visualizations.
● Analyze the data visualizations on the slides and within the speaker notes. (1-2
slides)
● Discuss how these visualizations can assist with organizational decision-making for
program development. (1 slide)
● Recommend organizational action based on the combination of data from the
visualizations. (1 slide)
● Conclusion slide
● Reference slide(s)
