United Nations criteria for genocide, law homework help

Genocide

Learning about genocide causes us to question why anyone would commit such extreme acts of violence. Those behind genocide have a rationale that we are usually incapable of understanding.

The United Nations Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide was signed in December 1948, and has been in force since January 1951. Article II of the convention defines genocide as any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnic, racial, or religious group, as such:

  1. Killing members of the group.
  2. Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group.
  3. Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part.
  4. Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group.

Tasks:

Using the United Nations criteria for genocide, conduct a case study on one of the current mass killings happening in the world, Darfur, Syria, Somalia, Ukraine, Burma, or Nigeria, and write a 5- to 7-page paper that includes the following:

  • Give an overview of why genocides happen.
  • Which of the four types of genocide is happening in the country you chose: developmental, despotic, ideological, or retributive? Explain your rationale.
  • What factors were the precursors leading to this genocide? How long has the killing/conflict been going on?
  • Who are the perpetrators? Who are the victims? How many known deaths have there been?
  • What are the perpetrators hoping to achieve by engaging in this genocide?
  • Has this genocide led to problems of refugee populations for surrounding countries?
  • Has this genocide been covert and is there denial by the perpetrators to cover up the crime?
  • How great has the destruction been to the structure of the country physically and economically?
  • Has the international community intervened in this atrocity? Have they done anything to prevent future incidents?

Submission Details:

  • Your final submission will be a 5- to 7-page Microsoft Word document.
  • Cite all the sources in APA format.

Can you answer the questions below within one day and reply to two post by Saturday night?

As an educator, you must not be afraid to seek support and help as we need it. You can rely on mentors and other educators to buttress your attempts to teach your students effectively. Parker gives some first-day tips for the classroom. The author also refers to some helpful organizations and information, so that you can seek the vital support you need.

Teachers tend to sometimes be highly independent, but you must learn to work even more collaboratively and ask for assistance, counsel, or advice when you are drowning in the never-ending tasks of teaching. If you are going through an emotionally or professionally difficult time, God gives you relationships so that you may build one another up. Matthew 7:7 declares, “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.” James 4:2 reminds us, “You have not, because you ask not.” Kellough & Jarolimek discuss ways that you can facilitate learning and learning experiences by organizing and grouping children for quality learning.

Based on the reading and study this module/week, reflect on the following items in your discussion thread:

  • How should elementary school teachers be learning to seek resources?
  • How did the Collaborative Resource Compilation and the Peer Review help you find support and support systems?
  • How can you do this in the workplace?
  • How can you personalize instruction to ensure success for all learners?
  • What is developmentally appropriate practice, and how does this concept inform instruction?
  • What are effective ways to group students in order to appropriately differentiate?

The Kardell Paper Co.

Using the Modified 5-Question Approach, analyze the ethicality of the decision to (or not to) incorporate the new technology and make a fully supported recommendation to the Board of Directors. Supplement this analysis with a Cost-Benefit Analysis (CBA) table.

You will need to reference your CBA in your recommendation to the Board. Make sure you thoroughly detail your recommendation with reflections on the consequences of the decision, whether the decision is fair to all, and whether the decision demonstrates the virtues expected of the Board of Directors, taking relevant codes of conduct into consideration, and the company as a whole in terms of social responsibility.

The following information and assumptions should be used to complete the Cost-Benefit Analysis:

Annual Revenues from the mill average 625 million.
Profit margin from the mill is approximately 11%.
Implementing the new technology would take two full years. The first year, the company would operate at 65% capacity (assume the company could maintain the 11% profit margin during reduced operations). During the second year, it would need to be completely shut down. After the two year period, the mill could reopen and operate at pre-implementation levels.
Approximate cost of litigation including medical costs for all affected by the contamination, environmental sanctions, legal and court costs, victims’ pain & suffering, and several other items is 1.7 billion. Estimate present value of future costs at 20%.
The company would spend approximately 4 million in hiring, onboarding, and training new employees after reopening as a result of several of their existing employees having to seek employment elsewhere during the shutdown.
As a result of the layoffs and shut down, the local economy would suffer greatly. The community would be forced to implement a 3 year tax on all local business profits of 5%. The tax would be enforced for 3 years beginning after the reopening of the mill. (Assume pre-implementation profit margins when calculating this and exclude all other costs and taxes when preparing this analysis.
Your recommendation should be addressed to the Board of Directors. It should be 4-6 pages long (including the CBA and a reference page). Your paper should be APA compliant.

List the symptoms typically seen in patients with prostate cancer

J.D. is a 70-year-old man with a history of prostate cancer, being
treated with palliative hormones and radiation. His admitting diagnosis
is adenocarcinoma of the prostate with widespread bone metastasis.
J.D. is married and has one grown daughter, who often helps with his
care. His chief concern is severe back pain for which the physician has
ordered intrathecal morphine sulfate and aspirin 650 mg for pain
relief. J.D.’s admitting CBC shows a WBC count of 500 and platelet count
of 15,000.

For this case study:

  1. List the symptoms typically seen in patients with prostate cancer.
  2. Identify the risk factors for prostate cancer, including which population is most at risk.
  3. Identify the complications J.D. is at risk for and explain the pathophysiology causing those risks.
  4. List 3 nursing problems and your goals for J.D.
  5. List at least 3 nursing interventions for each problem.

You should include a minimum of 3 references. Include a title page, in-text citations, and a reference page in APA format.

Help with discussion on sociolinguistic factors?

Sociolinguistic Factors

Because communication involves being part of a language community, it is important to understand the cultural contributions of the people with whom communication takes place. Chapter 2 of Introduction to Communication Disorders includes such information that may be useful in determining the manner in which people communicate. Consider how communication is influenced by age, gender, and ethnicity. How might sociolinguistic factors in communication be related to unique variables of cultural identity, setting, and participants? How might disorders that manifest themselves throughout a person’s life be influenced by these factors? How might a person be affected by these factors?
