You are responsible for delegating duties to your team for the selection, development, and management of both the new and current employees. You must ensure that your organization is diverse and follows all employment laws.

(Note: You may create and / or make all necessary assumptions needed for the completion of these assignments. In your original work, you may use aspects of existing processes from either your current or a former place of employment. However, you must remove any and all identifying information that would enable someone to discern the organization[s] that you have used.)

Write a three to four (3-4) page paper in which you:

  1. Outline one (1) job interview process, and document the methods that you must use to select the right person for available positions. Determine two (2) employment laws that you must consider in the process in question, and examine the key ramifications of the organization’s lack of enforcement of said laws.
  2. Suppose your same organization decides on an unconventional workforce comprised primarily of independent contractors and temporary workers. Next, examine two (2) laws that you must follow during the relationship building process, and specify the manner in which each law would help in the relationship building process.
  3. Evaluate the effectiveness of the organization’s HR policies and processes that are designed to promote a diverse workforce. Next, outline one (1) strategy for the organization that recognizes affirmative action. Include a plan to mitigate both the glass ceiling effect and reverse discrimination within your organization. Bullying…Change
Read the following essay, written by Antonio, a fourth-grade student.

The Bully in the Mirror
Antonio, 4th Grade

Mirror Mirror on the wall why must I be the
Bully that has to fall. I beat on kids around the school
The mirror told me it wasn’t cool. The mirror told me to change.
My ways I have beat up kids all by days. I have no friends.
It’s just not right. The mirror said cause you like to fight.
I am a bully how could this be. The mirror is starting to
Change me. Reflections are now flashing back to me.
Someone plant the seed inside of me. Now the mirror has
shown me poor. I’ll change my ways and start
new days the bully is no more part of me.
Any bully can change
Imagine that you are Antonio’s teacher.
Antonio obviously wants to make a change. As a fourth grader, it is
almost impossible to do this alone. Therefore, he has handed this
writing piece to you, his teacher. Understanding that this
transformation involves far more than you and Antonio, you will devise a
plan to help him change his history and be a good person.

First, read the Kenny (2007) article and discuss how Antonio’s “looking
glass self” has been influenced by the agents of socialization. Be sure
to explain how this looking glass self is related to his “answerability”
and what role that has in his desire to change his behavior.

Next, devise a game plan for Antonio’s change:

  1. Share one lesson or activity that can be
completed with the whole class. The lesson or activity should focus on
the importance of awareness and bully prevention. Describe the lesson or
activity and how it will benefit the class as a whole.
  2. List one idea showing how the class can support
Antonio’s change. Explain how you would help your students support their
    former tormentor.
  3. List one strategy that you can help Antonio
implement in order for him to stay on the right path (e.g., literature, a
check list, or a change in routine).
  4. Provide one suggestion you would share with
Antonio’s parents, so that this change in behavior is a true partnership
between you (the teacher), the child, and the parents.

Use the information from your text and the Pacer’s National Bullying Prevention Center website to create your plan. You must include two scholarly sources in addition to the two given.

Criteria:

  1. Must be three to four double-spaced pages in length, not including title and reference pages.
  2. Must include at least two scholarly sources in addition to the text and required sources.
  3. Must be formatted according to APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.
  4. Must include a title and reference page formatted according to APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.
  5. Must be well organized and reflect college-level writing.

4. Herb Kelleher was a strong proponent of the idea that the employee—not the customer—came first. Regarding his views, Kelleher stated:

You have to treat your employees like your customers. When you treat them right, then they will treat your outside customers right. That has been a very powerful competitive weapon for us. You’ve got to take the time to listen to people’s ideas. If you just tell somebody no, that’s an act of power and, in my opinion, an abuse of power. You don’t want to constrain people in their thinking.

Select and describe an instance and/or example from the case that illustrates Kelleher’s statement. What do you find to be the most important impact on Southwest Airlines from such valuing of the employee?

5. Define the elements that, in combination, constitute a corporate culture. Which element do you think Southwest Airlines has used to its best advantage? Justify your selection and describe the way your selected element has contributed to the Southwest Airlines corporate culture.

NO PLAGIARISM! and use APA citation

Please answer as detailed as possible

1. All the parts of an effective activity plan are aligned with one another. Discuss what is meant by the concept of alignment and how it relates to the plans you write.

2. In what ways does brain development research document the influence of both nature and nurture on language development?

3. Think about the four theoretical perspectives of language development. Use your own experiences to reflect on which one(s) you think is most common in early childhood settings (this can be in the home, day care, preschool, etc). Explain why you think this is so.

4. Describe what it means to have empathy for others. Do you remember a time when a teacher said something to you in front of others that was critical or singled you out and did not encourage others to be empathetic towards you? Tell about this time and how it made you feel. How could the experience have been resolved in a more empathetic, positive way? What might the teacher have said or done differently that promoted empathy toward your situation?

Finally, there should be no excuses for attempting to use the ideas and/or words of any of your sources and attempting to pass them off as your own. Plagiarism will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Simply citing your source(s) does not give you permission to copy them word-for-word unless they are being directly quoted and placed in quotation marks. Even attempting to adjust the sentence structure or altering a couple of words in a source will not absolve you of charges of plagiarism. The skill of paraphrasing (or putting a source’s words or ideas into your own words) is not a simple one to acquire.

Informatics Competencies – average quality is fine

Nursing informatics is a discipline that is still evolving. Yet, there is a set of core skills and knowledge that applies to all individuals who work as nurse informaticists and many competencies that are specific to informatics roles, positions, tasks, and responsibilities. For example, a nurse informaticist who works as a consultant for a health care technology company and a nurse informaticist who works as a professor at a university will share much of the same expertise and knowledge. However, they will also have distinct competencies specific to their unique roles.

In this Discussion, you explore informatics competencies within the informatics functional area you selected for the Week 1 Assignment.

To prepare:

  • Review nursing informatics competencies such as those outlined by the American Nurses Association (ANA), the Technology Informatics Guiding Education Reform (TIGER), and the Quality and Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN).
  • Review this week’s media presentation Competencies for Nurse Informaticists, and reflect on the competencies outlined by the presenters.
  • Recall the informatics functional area you identified in the Week 1 Assignment. With this in mind, what competencies would be most important for you to master? How might you go about developing these competencies?
  • Create a list of competencies you would like to master.

Post a brief description of the informatics functional area in which you are interested. Then, identify at least four ANA, TIGER and/or QSEN competencies that you believe to be vital for success in this functional area, and justify your choices. Explain how you might successfully develop and master each of these competencies.

Introduction of Film

The movie I picked is SNOW WHITE AND SEVEN DWARFS, explain how three cinematic techniques and/or design elements
have helped establish a major theme in that film.

In 800 to 1200 words

  • Describe a major theme of the movie you have selected
using evidence from the movie itself as well as course resources and
other scholarly sources to support your position.
  • Identify at least three techniques (cinematography,
lighting, acting style, or direction) and/or design elements (set
design, costuming, or hair and makeup), and explain how these techniques
and/or design elements contribute to the establishment of the theme.
Reference particular scenes or sequences in your explanations.
  • State your opinion regarding the mise en scène, including
  • How the elements work together.
  • How congruent the design elements are with the theme of the movie.
  • Whether or not other techniques would be as effective (Explain your reasoning).

Note: Remember that a theme is an overarching idea that
recurs throughout the plot of a film. It is the distilled essence of
what the film is about, the main design which the specific scenes and
actions lead a viewer to understand.

Your paper should be organized around a thesis statement that
focuses on how the elements of your chosen feature-length film both
establish and maintain one of its major themes. Review the Week Three sample paper, which provides an example of a well-developed analysis as well as insight on composition.

The paper must be 800 to 1200 words in length and formatted according to APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.

You must use at least two scholarly sources other than the textbook to support your claims. Refer to the ENG225 Research Guide

in the Ashford University Library for guidance and to locate your

sources. Cite your sources (including the feature-length film) within

the text of your paper and on the reference page. For information

regarding APA, including samples and tutorials, visit the Ashford

CJ 520 Module Two Policy Analysis Memorandum

Overview: For this assignment, due in Module Two, you will write a policy analysis memorandum that is a minimum of one page in length, excluding title and reference pages, that explains to the supervisor of your criminal justice agency the importance of incorporating an understanding of at least two criminological theories into policymaking. Explain how your understanding of the theories would help you begin to analyze policy for how it could be improved. This memorandum will help prepare you for your Milestone One submission in Module Three.

First, review the document Criminological Theories Defined as well as the different criminological theories that are described in your text Criminological Theory. Select two theories to complete this assignment. In your reading and in your research, pay particular attention to how criminological theories have been applied in the creation or revision of departmental policies.

Next, consider the following scenario: Your supervisor needs to be convinced of the need to incorporate criminological theory into the decisions that are made regarding departmental policy-making. Write this memo for a departmental policy from one of the three following departments: law enforcement, the courts, or corrections.

Use the Memorandum Template to complete the assignment. Address the following critical elements as they are reflected in the Sample Policy Memorandum.

Prompt: These critical elements appear as headings in the Memorandum Template and must be addressed:

1. Issue Presented: In a brief one-sentence question, summarize the importance of incorporating an understanding of at least two criminological theories into the decisions that are made regarding departmental policymaking. 2. Short Answer: Provide a short answer that summarizes the conclusion of the memorandum. 3. Statement of Facts: Describe how incorporating these two criminological theories will result in more effective policymaking. 4. Discussion: Using examples from your text and from your own research, briefly discuss at least one example of a departmental policy (from law enforcement, the courts, or corrections) that has effectively been revised to incorporate these two criminological theories. 5. Conclusion: Provide a conclusion based on the research you have done and the details you have gathered. 6. Recommendations: Recommend incorporating an understanding of at least two criminological theories into a departmental policy in one of the three following departments: law enforcement, the courts, or corrections.

Reference your textbook or other course readings to support your submission.

RE: Graham v. Connor Case – Judging Use of Force Issues
DATE: January 1, 2016
Issue Presented When one of our police officers is involved in a use of force incident, what perspective should be used in judging the reasonableness of that officer’s use of force?

Short Answer When judging reasonableness, in the application of force, the perspective to be used is that of a reasonable objective officer standing in the shoes of the officer at the time the application of force is used. That officer is additionally briefed to disregard 20/20 hindsight.

Statement of Facts The case of Graham v. Connor, 490 U.S. 386 (1989), is the applicable precedent and rule of law applicable to these situations. In Graham, supra, an officer made a traffic stop on an individual who was diabetic. As a result of low sugar, Graham was attempting to buy orange juice. He was driven to a convenience store by Berry, pulling in expeditiously. Graham ran into the convenience store and rapidly exited after seeing the line was too long. Berry and Graham then swiftly pulled out of the convenience store parking lot. Based on the aforementioned events, Officer Connor, observed this behavior and was troubled by the situation. Connor believed some type of crime or a robbery may have occurred in the convenience store. The officer conducted an investigative stop to determine whether or not criminal activity had taken place. Graham was incoherent and refused to comply with officer requests, running around the vehicle as a result of low insulin. Due to his behavior, Graham was subsequently handcuffed and detained while officers were conducting a preliminary investigation. The officers at the time had no idea that Graham was diabetic. Graham was not charged with a crime but sustained injuries while being handcuffed. Graham brought suit against the officers for a violation of his civil rights under 42 U.S.C § 1983, for excessive use of force and violation of his Fourth Amendment right to be free

from unreasonable search and seizure. Graham contended that the officers disregarded the fact that he was diabetic. Id at 392-394.

Discussion As a result of recent use of force issues across the country, there has been intense media scrutiny placed on law enforcement. As grand juries have convened, in both Ferguson and New York City, there has been unparalleled attention and protests as to why these officers have not been indicted. This is a result of the public having a general misunderstanding and misconception of how the law is applied. It is paramount that the general public understand the context when judging the reasonableness of incidents involving the use of force. A complete and thorough understanding of the law is critical when analyzing these incidents. Grand juries are instructed on the law when reaching their conclusions. This, in fact, is the dispositive reason as to why these grand juries have refused to indict these officers. When judging reasonableness, in the application of force, grand juries are advised that they must stand in the shoes of the officer at the time the application of force is used. They are additionally briefed to disregard 20/20 hindsight based on the aforementioned Graham standard. That judgment should be based on the “objective reasonableness” standard outlined in Graham. Police officers often have a fraction of a second to make a life and death decision. After the fact, that decision, may in fact, be wrong. However, the incident cannot be judged with hindsight. Under Graham, we must stand in the shoes of the officer at the time the force is being applied to determine its reasonableness. The realization that a gun is in fact a toy after the application of deadly force is a perfect illustration of this point. However, using the Graham analysis, was the officers’ application of deadly force “objectively reasonable?”

Conclusion In reaching its conclusion, the United States Supreme Court ruled in favor of the officers stating in a pertinent part:

All claims that law enforcement officials have used excessive force—deadly or not—in the course of an arrest, investigatory stop, or other “seizure” of a free citizen are properly analyzed under the Fourth Amendment’s “objective reasonableness” standard, rather than under a substantive due process standard. Graham at 392-399.

This “objective reasonableness” must be applied while “standing in the shoes of the officer” at the time the incident takes place. The Supreme Court recognized that officers have to make splitsecond decisions in the course of executing their duties. The benefit of 20/20 hindsight must be disregarded when judging “objective reasonableness”. Id at 399. Obviously, had the officers known that Graham was diabetic, they would have taken different action. However, this information was revealed after the incident took place.

Recommendations The general public has a general misunderstanding and misconception of how the law is applied in use of force situations. It is paramount that the general public understand the context, when judging the reasonableness of incidents involving the use of force, before judging the incident. A complete and thorough understanding of the law is critical when analyzing these incidents. The understanding of this approach is the dispositive reason as to why grand juries have refused to

indict many officers. It is imperative that our agency deals with this negative public perception with an informational campaign on the Graham standard. This information should be disseminated proactively before another incident becomes the lightning rod of controversy and reactionary public perception. It is also important that our officers be trained in the proper use of force, the use of force continuum, and from what perspective their actions are going to be judged. If these strategies are followed, there should be better public awareness of the situation, better trained officers, and a thoughtful/mindful approach to the application of force.
