This Critical Thinking Assignment focuses on how a product-based firm can leverage ISO to achieve a competitive advantage. Conduct research and assess one product-based firm.

Using an organizational or group situation with which you are familiar, construct a demonstration of interpersonal communication supported by audio-visual technology.

The demonstration will include a record of you delivering a message to an audience, either in real time or in simulation, such as a video or audio recording of a presentation. Consult your mentor regarding other audio-visual presentation tools that might work for your demonstration.

It will be accompanied by a written account of the following:

A clearly identified message you plan to communicate;
A clearly identified audience to receive the message, described in terms of the number of people in the audience, the reason they need to receive the message, and their characteristics (organizational role(s), cultural group(s) represented, preferred communication styles and methods, etc.);

For this assignment, I know that many of you are PowerPoint (PPT) experts! As such, I am sure that you have done a PPT presentation for your job to a group of co-workers, clients, external stakeholders, etc. My recommendation is that you take one of those PPT presentations that you have done in the past (or currently), massage it to the deliverables of this assignment and go from there. I have recommended this in the past with former BAM students and this has worked beautifully!

Once you have the PPT completed, then you will do a paper in the PPT in APA format 6thedition, just like the other four assignments.

I am interested in looking into how racist views and stereotypes influenced some of the best known early cartoon characters like Mickey Mouse. I have started looking into this and apparently live minstrel acts (white actors with blacken faces) were very popular in the mid to late 1800s. Some traces of these stereotypes were adopted into early cartoons. Details such as white gloved hands, huge eyes and mouths, blacken faces after explosions, and even repetitive violence with no consequences can (with some interpretation) be traced to back to slavery and social repression of African Americans that followed the Civil War.

Institutional conflict can be viewed as either functional or dysfunctional. From the functional perspective, conflict can be seen as productive because it causes members of the institution to learn, improve, and develop creativity and problem solving skills. On the other hand, conflict can be seen as dysfunctional to the degree that it threatens the structure and stability of an institution and to the degree that it stifles creativity and change. Managed properly, conflict can cause people and the institution to grow and improve.
