Pharm discussion #!

A.C. is a 60-year-old Caucasian woman with newly diagnosed peptic ulcer disease, generalized anxiety disorder, and iron deficiency anemia. She also has a long history of asthma and depression. She is a strong believer of herbal medicine. She takes St. John’s wort for her depression, iron pills for her anemia, and alprazolam (Xanax) as needed for her anxiety. During her asthma exacerbation, she is instructed to take prednisone for at least 5 days. She also takes esomeprazole (Nexium) for her peptic ulcer disease. Three months later, she experienced severe fatigue, shortness of breath, dizziness, and swelling/soreness in the tongue. Her asthma is well controlled with the occasional use of albuterol (Proventil) inhaler. During her physical exam, her physician suspected that she had bacterial vaginosis and gave her a prescription for a 1-week course of metronidazole (Flagyl). She drinks at least two to three cans of beer per day.

Please respond to my prompt below.

Questions:

1. St. John’s wort is known to inhibit which of her medication that is known to be metabolized by cytochrome P-450 (CYP3A4) and could potentially cause her to experience significant fatigue?

2. Which of her medication could interfere with the absorption of her iron pills?

3. Which of her medication could potentially cause her to develop vitamin B12 deficiency?

4. How does metronidazole interfere with alcohol?

5. If she was given a prescription for ketoconazole, which of her medication could interfere with its absorption?

Module 01- A Bright Line Test

It is obvious that, objectively speaking, there is no ethical bright line test for society to follow. Whether dealing in Business, Law, Journalism, etc. no two realms have the same ethical guidelines. What is accepted in one faction of society is not always accepted and/or ethical in another faction. Moreover, what is accepted in one situation is not always then again accepted in a subsequent similar situation. What then is the bottom line? The bottom line is – there is no accepted bottom line. We all come to our own ethical make-up based on the positions we hold, the religions we hold ourselves out to be and the experiences we have live through. What is your ethical make up?

In a 2-3 page paper, analyze how to ethically guide your life. Do so through determining a set of standards to live by. Furthermore, differentiate where those standards derived from. Finally, conclude how you know these standards are right and/or wrong.

Please be sure to give at least five examples of ethical standards in which everyone should live by. Be sure to use proper APA formatting including a cover page.

  1. (2.5 points) An investment of $5000 in an Infotech common stock proved to be very profitable. At the end of 3 years the stock was sold for $30,000. What was the rate of return on investment?
  2. (2.5 points) Horizon Wireless must rebuild a cell tower recently destroyed by a tornado. If made of normal steel, the tower will cost $40,000 to construct and should last 18 years. Maintenance will cost $1,000 per year. If corrosion resistant steel is used, the tower will cost $50,000 to build and the annual maintenance cost will be reduced to $200 per year. Determine the IRR of building the corrosion resistant tower. If Horizon requires a return of 10% on its capital projects, which tower should they build?

Nike Marketing Plan

Purpose of Assignment

The purpose of this assignment is to help students think through the importance of social, legal, and ethical issues that may arise with their product or service and the implications of decisions made within those frameworks. It is designed to help the learners understand ethical and legal issues related to marketing practices. This knowledge helps to prevent such issues when developing the marketing strategies in their marketing plan. The executive overview of the marketing plan is not a summary and conclusion, but an overview of what the plan entails and what it does not address.

Assignment Steps

Note: the Social, Ethical, and Legal Implications assignment is part of the total marketing plan as outlined in the grading guide. It is not a separate paper.

Producing and marketing a product without regard to ethical, legal, and social considerations is detrimental to the overall success of any company.

Assess in a maximum of 700 words the ethical, legal, and social issues affecting your product or service in two markets: the United States and one international market. Domestic market generally means the market where the company headquarters are located. If you choose a domestic market that is not the U.S., then your other market is required to be the U.S. marketplace. This will be added to the Target Market section of your Marketing Plan.

Include the following:

  • Develop a process to monitor and control marketing performance. This process should be a flowchart!!!!!!!! (flowcharts do not count towards your word count requirement).

Formulate a maximum 350-word executive summary including at a minimum the following elements to include in your marketing plan:

  • Required executive summary elements:
    • Strategic Objectives
    • Products or Services
  • Optional executive summary elements:
    • Resources Needed
    • Projected Outcomes

Integrate the previous weeks’ sections, social, ethical, and legal implications, and executive summary into the marketing plan. Incorporate corrections and suggestions from the instructor’s weekly feedback. The marketing plan should be a minimum of 3,850 words and include the following:

  • Incorporate Understanding Target Markets (Week 2)
  • Incorporate Promotion and the Product Life Cycle (Week 3)
  • Incorporate Price and Channel Strategy (Week 4)
  • Incorporate Marketing Communication and Brand Strategy (Week 5)
  • Incorporate Executive Summary, Legal, Social and Ethical Considerations (Week 6)

Cite a minimum of 5 peer-reviewed references.

Include all peer-reviewed references from the previous weeks’ individual assignments in your marketing plan.

Format your assignment consistent with APA guidelines.

Click the Assignment Files tab to submit your assignment.

Performance Improvement Plan

Resource: Performance Improvement Plan Guest Reviews

Review Rubric

Evaluate the three examples of guest feedback in the Performance Improvement Plan Guest Reviews document.

Identify 3 to 5 common trends (positive or negative) as seen in the feedback. Be sure to include these trends in your plan, but choose only one to create the plan on. (Note: the grading guide references trends from the region. These comments were pulled from a specific region and not the entire country. Look for trends within the comments that are given.)

Select one area of opportunity and develop a 700- to 1,050-word performance improvement plan to address the issue.

Use the “who, what, when, where, why, and how” approach to develop your plan.

Use process improvement techniques that are relevant to the industry of concern and the item you are trying to enhance.

Besides the Performance Improvement Plan, Respond to one of the comments as if you are a manager at the hotel, addressing the concerns or positive feedback.

You may submit 2 documents (the Improvment Plan and the Customer Response) or combine these 2 into one document.

Format your paper according to APA guidelines.

Compare your submission to the Rubric before submitting.

Gantt Chart

Every engineering project requires a thoughtful work schedule and plan in order to be successful. Project plans generally show available resources, including people and materials, and a precise timeline that demonstrates the steps necessary to get the job done by a predetermined project due date.

A Gantt chart is the primary tool that allows engineers to not only keep track of project progress but also to demonstrate to stakeholders that work is being accomplished and that the project is on-track. See the description of Gantt charts at

http://www.gantt.com/ (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.

Gantt charts for major engineering projects generally are created by Microsoft Project, Merlin (for the Mac) or some other commercial software program. Frequently professional project managers are hired to identify project resources and benchmarks, but sometimes Gantt charts are created by the engineers working on a project.

Gantt charts are visual in nature and, depending upon the level of sophistication required, can automatically detect and prevent scheduling and resource conflicts (i.e. the same engineer may not be working at two different worksites at the same time).

Even if you do not develop Gantt charts during your engineering career, you will need to know how to read and interpret the project information contained on Gantt charts. Creating a Gantt chart, in fact, is a type of engineering communications that is required for many reports and will be an element of our upcoming class Proposal Project.

Assignment Goal

Our goal for this assignment is to create a Gantt chart for the work we will do for Major Project #2, the Proposal Project. This Gantt chart–revised to reflect your current status–also will be included as part of your Proposal Progress Report, due at the end of Week 8.

So . . . Your completed Gantt chart will be delivered

1. Here, for this Assignment

2. In your Proposal Progress Report

3. In your Final Proposal Document

Assignment

Create a Gantt chart that visually describes your plan for completing the Proposal Project on time. Remember, the ending date for your chart should be the due date for our Proposal Project Assignment. You should begin the Gantt chart timeline as of the date of this week’s assignment posting, as that’s when you will begin your work on this project.

You should consider documenting such benchmarks as:

  • identifying a research topic
  • doing some preliminary research on the Web or in the library
  • finding appropriate graphics, charts, and images to make your proposal visually appealing and informative
  • completing and posting this Gantt chart assignment
  • completing your Progress Report by the due date
  • writing a first draft of your proposal
  • revising your proposal
  • submitting your final proposal for grading

Remember, this is only a suggested list of benchmarks. Read the Proposal assignment and other associated assignments carefully to identify other possible benchmarks. Your goal is to structure your time in such a way as to break down this project in steps that will lead you to your goal of on-time submission.

Nonverbal communication

Select option 1 or 2:

Option #1: Nonverbal Communication Observation

In this critical thinking assignment, you are asked to observe the nonverbal communication in a business setting. You could choose a Zoom session, Microsoft Teams session or another location where business is being conducted. While observing, pay close attention to the nonverbal communication messages being sent. Please reflect on the following:

  • What nonverbal behavior did you observe and what information did you glean from these messages?
  • Are the verbal and nonverbal messages congruent?
  • How is the leader demonstrating nonverbal communication and is it helpful or not in facilitating communication?
  • Talk with at least one other person from the meeting to gather his/her feedback regarding the nonverbal messages being sent in the meeting.

Keep in mind this is academic writing. It should be written in third person and should not include unsubstantiated opinions, but rather facts and theories. Your well-written paper must adhere to the following parameters:

  • 4-5 pages in length, not including the title and reference pages.
  • 3 scholarly references cited in the assignment. Remember, you must support your thinking/opinions and prior knowledge with in-text citations and references; all facts must be supported; in-text citations used throughout the assignment must be included in an APA-formatted reference list.

Option #2: Analyzing Nonverbal Communication

In this critical thinking activity, analyze the nonverbal communication observed within any television show, speech or other visual broadcast you can find. You can choose any speech that you find on the Internet (and be sure to include the link so your instructor can also view). Analyze the nonverbal communication by turning off the volume. Once you have observed and recorded the show for 20-30 minutes, review it again with the volume on.Write a paper reflecting on the differences and similarities between what you observed without volume and what you discovered with the volume on. Include information from the module readings as well as your own personal experience/knowledge.

Keep in mind this is academic writing, should be written in third person and should not include unsubstantiated opinions, but rather facts and theories. Your well-written paper must adhere to the following parameters:

Critical analysis on the topic “The Allegory of the Cave”

A good critical analysis requires the reader to think, question, analyze, and evaluate the subject of analysis. When writers do a critical analysis of other writings, they should not only read the article they are critiquing thoroughly but also do some critical thinking on various aspects of writing as a way to evaluate the article. Remember that a critical analysis is written not merely to provide the readers a report on the article but also to evaluate the worth of the article. The critiquemust first demonstrate that he/she has made a sincere attempt at understanding the content, structure, and the rhetorical dimensions of the article, such as the purpose, occasion, target audience, etc., before he/she attempts at critiquing the article. Lacking this, the critical analysis may come off sounding biased and partial; hence, losing its credibility.

Most critical writings begin with a content summary of the article that is being evaluated, followed by points of analysis, and concluded with an overall evaluation of the entire article.Forthe critical analysis assignment in this class, you are required to write a minimum of 750 words critical analysis on the article that you have previously chosen. You must present your analysisof the article by reading it in class before turning the analysis in, for a grade. You must also be able to present your views and justify your evaluation of the article in the ensuing discussion.

Required Structure for the Critical Analysis Paper:

1. Summary of the article that is being critiqued:

Must be concise and not longer than one paragraph long.

Must present the author’s thesis accurately

Must demonstrate complete comprehension of the text.

Must include some background information about the article if its available, such as author, title, publication, purpose, target audience, occasion, etc.

2. 3 critical points of analysis.

Analysis points: Author’s Purpose, Claim or Thesis, Point of View, Assumptions, Organizational Strategy, Argumentation Style, Strength of Evidence/ Support, Language (Diction, WordChoice, etc.,) Warrants, Audience Appeal, Author’s Credibility, Credibility of Evidence/ Support, Validity of Argumentation/ Claims, Use of Appeal (Logic, Emotion, and Authority,) Effectiveness, etc.

All critical analysis must evaluate the article’s thesis/ claim as one of the three analysis points. Writers may choose the two other analysis points from the list above or any other points of argument of their choice.

Each analysis point must have its own claim.

Each claim must be supported by textual evidence or references.

3. Evaluation of the overall impact of the article:

Did the article have a positive impact?

Was the article convincing?

Were the arguments logical?

Is there any evidence of dishonesty?

Were there emotional pleas? Were these pleas acceptable?

Did the author make any assumptions? Are they honest, acceptable assumptions?

Was the author sincere or truthful in his claims?

Did the article offer a new, meaningful way of seeing the subject or is the author merely parroting all that we already know?

On the whole, was the article a worthy read?
