watch Central Park Five movie

The definition of RHETORIC is: “The art of effective or persuasive speaking or writing, especially the exploitation of figures of speech and other compositional techniques. Language designed to have a persuasive or impressive effect, but often regarded as lacking in sincerity or meaningful content.”As we discussed during the “product blog” unit, rhetoric can subtly influence what we see and believe, even when we don’t recognize that we are being manipulated by outside forces.

While you’re watching, take careful notes on how RHETORIC is used to manipulate and coerce the five boys’ fates. For example, note how the newspaper headlines impact the public’s opinion during their 1989 trial.Discuss how racial stereotypes influenced the rhetoric used by reporters, attorneys, and more. Pay attention to how/if the media impacts the public’s perception of the case.

Your write-up:

  • While you are watching, make a list of 5 ways that RHETORIC (persuasive speech/writing) was used to influence the case against the boys who were accused and convictedof the rape of the Central Park jogger.
  • What is your emotional response to this film? After watching it, were you inspired?Discouraged?Angry?Confused?Explain in 1 fully developed paragraph that provides examples from the film.
  • Finally, write a 1-paragraph to this question:“Is this 6-year old film still relevant today? If so, what lessons can we learn from it?” Include examples of current events that you see are relevant to the lessons of this film, or examples of ways that the film is no longer relevant. As always, be specific.

Departmental policy

You have by now read several chapters of Criminal Justice Policy Origins and Effectiveness and should have a clear understanding of the number of actors within the criminal justice arena that create policy, including those in the corrections, law enforcement, and the courts among others. Each actor shares some goals with the others, but some goals are unique to each actor.

In this discussion, we are going to examine the challenges that exist when multiple actors in the same criminal justice arena are all trying to create policy that necessarily impacts the other actors. First, review the chapter readings in Criminal Justice Policy Origins and Effectiveness from Modules 1 through 5, as well as the Marion video and Obama article from Module 3. Next, in your initial post:

  1. Identify an example of a departmental policy effort to address a public policy issue.
  2. Focus your explanation on the potential difference between perceptions of criminality, the public policy issues related to these perceptions, and the reality of the challenges many political actors face in addressing these issues.
  3. Discuss the overall impact on the public that exists having so many actors involved in the same criminal justice arena—all of whom are trying to create policy to address the same public policy issue.

History Question

Between 1865 and the present, how did ideas about racial difference and racial hierarchy shape the development of American capitalism? As you craft your argument, consider these guiding questions: What different locations in the economy did people from different racial categories occupy? How possible was it for someone from one racial category to enter an occupation more typically held by members of another category? What kinds of resources, other than jobs, were inaccessible to people who were not white? What role did the government play? Did racial categories become more or less rigid over time?

You do not need to be exhaustive and describe every change in this 150+year span. Instead, you should select 35 key moments or shifts and show how the relationship between ideas about race and the capitalist economy changed over time. Remember that all of your examples need to support a main thesis. Keywords: black codes; ReedJohnson Immigration Act (Immigration Act of 1924); bracero program; Home Owners’ Loan Corporation

As your fourth assignment toward completion of the Session Long Project, you will need to discuss the fragile balance between the need for public health agencies to acquire data and the demand for security of sensitive information. Review the article Ethics in Public Health Research. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC23748…

As public health director in a small county, you must maintain records that track diabetes rates, the incidence of HIV, and immunization records. Recently, there have been at least two breaches when computers were stolen from employees or an outside hacker broke into the system and downloaded data.

Now you must write an open letter addressing the community and explain how the department is going to protect the information. In your letter, address the following questions.

  1. Explain why the health department collects this information conveying the idea of how it serves the greater good.
  2. Discuss the public’s interest in privacy and why this is important in our society.
  3. Discuss why the department needs to infringe on the community’s privacy.
  4. Explain how the department might ensure greater security.
  5. Be sure to identify at least one applicable regulation, statute, or source that supports the ability of the department to collect this information.

SLP Assignment Expectations

  1. Limit your response to 3 pages, not including title and reference pages.
  2. Be sure to utilize at least 3-4 scholarly references to support your discussions.
  1. Be sure to properly cite your references within the text of your assignment and listed at the end.
  2. Be sure to apply critical thinking skills to the write-up of your assignment, especially for numbers 1, and 2 above.

For our purposes, Reading Responses are focused responses to the assigned reading. These responses are the most important means for practicing and developing your ability to read and think critically. You will generally write one response each week. These responses should be typed, double-spaced, and at least one page in length. These are like journal entries relating how students respond to their reading.

How did the reading make you think and feel? Of what did the reading remind you? How can you relate the reading to your other classes? Or your current life situations? Or history? Try to make these relatively informal but still academic. Do not give me summaries! Some of the response may quote excerpts of the reading, but keep the quotes short. And make sure to use proper formatting for quotes.

Good Luck!

Effective Presentation Skills Training — COMM/102, assignment help

Public speaking is a fear that many people have–even more so than heights, flying, or creepy animals. Therefore, to make matters easier and smoother, it is important to consider audience, purpose, and format when creating a presentation that will accompany one’s verbal communication among a group of colleagues and upper management.

Create a 15- to 20-slide Microsoft® PowerPoint® presentation with speaker notes that you would use to train coworkers on effective presentation techniques.

Refer back to Ch. 14 in Excellence in Business Communication for effective presentation techniques.

Include the following:

  • At least five strategies from this week’s readings on effectively developing and delivering a presentation to an audience
  • Tips for overcoming speaking anxiety
  • A description of how using presentations can help enhance the understanding of important information

Demonstrate the effective use of visual resources by including at least three images.

Note: In creating your presentation, be sure to actively model the effective presentation tips you are teaching your audience. For example, include short, precise, pertinent information on each slide and interesting and easy-to-follow graphics.

Present your Effective Presentation Skills Training.

  • For Local Campus students, these are 10- to 15-minute oral presentations accompanied by Microsoft® PowerPoint® presentations.
  • For Online Campus and Directed Study students, these are Microsoft® PowerPoint®presentations with detailed speaker notes.

Format your assignment according to appropriate course-level APA guidelines.

Submit your assignment to the Assignment Files tab. It is important to follow the rule of six and six. No more than six bullets per slide; no more than six words per bullet. This rule must be followed in your final presentation. You may want to view the information in these links.

16 slides power point

Revise your 12-slide PowerPoint using the original directions and sample provided and my feedback.

Label the file: 321_SouthernBaptists16_YourLastName or 321_Theravada-Buddhists16_YourLastName. The 16 indicates the PowerPoint has 16 slides. If necessary you may use more than one slide for your bibliography.

Add four slides. The content on slides 12, 13, 14, 15 needs to be based on four articles from the American Theological Library Association database (ATLA) available on ASU Libraries website. ATLA is the most comprehensive database for scholarly articles and book reviews for Religious Studies. Access ATLA at http://library.lib.asu.edu/record=e1000071.
